Maybe "teach" the actual technique?
A lot of flowery talk ... but no actual "teaching" of the technique....
Being a guitarist of 61+ years, and having played out weekends for 35 years, I bring complete agreement with JD on playing for crowds. And we all need Jesus ...
Very talented man. Love hearing slide guitar. Hearing him talking to the audience, he sounds so much like a regular down to earth guy. Hope i have the chance to hear him play live. Awesome video. Wish him tons of thanks for his instructional video.
thanks to his technique I can throw in some chicken pickin from time to time without chicken pickin the "proper" way :-)
Spot on. It served him well. I try to dig, mine Anything about this guy. He has a CZcams channel, 8 year old things. Very little new, & his UNREAL, ( Crazy Ass, W/ the Unreal, dynamic Marshall & 50 W.) That stuff is allmost impossible to find. I LOVE this guy, & his way of thinking. But, is he trying to NOT be successful/Available to his fans ?? Unheard of.
15 years ago i got hold of their first mapleblossom archtop 1980....since then ive had many gibsons...they came and went as nothing compares to the sound of my MB archtop...a proper keeper
Thank you for sharing this…incredibly inspiring! 🙏🏼🙌🏽😎
He’s 100% correct
Watched this clip before. Still blows me away. JD gave me and my son his 60 LP to check out at his gig in NY. Awesome human and amazing talent.
The night I got to meet him, he let me play his prototype custom that Gibson was putting out, he’s so dang cool
Awesome playing, with his own flavor.
if he did this demo on a tele or even strat it would sound worlds better....!! love JD
Hello. How are you all ? Thank you, For your Business. I Been Playing Banjo, Since I was 11 years Old. I Was Wondering, if it is Legal, I wanted to have my Own Small Business in Selling Banjos 🪕. I was Wanting to Sell your Banjos if Possible. Wondering if you Could give me Some Advice. And How to go about it. What all I Need to Do. And of Course, pay you, your percentage. Thank you.
Pretty good chicken
slowing this down (did you know you can do that right in Settings on CZcams) will expose some great nuance to his picking when he starts playing. love how he is using muted notes to keep the rhythm strong.
thats right!
So nice to hear someone explaining things with music theory! High E sting I will get to you eventually. Hard to feel the strings through the slide at first to get the right touch, but it’s coming along. Excellent video in all ways!
JD's story is so inspiring! When you consider his non-country background, it's all the more STAGGERING to watch him play. He is a MONSTER player!!!
I like how everybody says that kinda thing after they play stuff
i cant find tabs online for these kind of scales. must find.
That's funny, I have the exact picture of Carlos only blown up.
What a talent.....what a player...thanks for the music JD!
Jaco wound up playing Louie Louie on streets in NYC.
J.D is so awesome!! I Love the tone and slide work he does here. It reminds me of the movie "Crossroads."
JD is just the best. People talk about Bonamassa, and I say Joe who? Here, check this guy out...
Music is not a competition friend
@@patrickolivier1 You're right. It's all subjective, and opinion. I just feel that some players are overrated, and some of who I feel are better players are overlooked. I don't mind sharing my opinions since it is a comments section though.
Musicians express what we all know is true but we never said it for fear of being laughed at..*
Man I like to meet u some day, love yrs playing
toe cutter
That is the simple trick of BB King, so smooth and clean
Looking like Leslie West ...! Good stuff Simo cheers
So cool.
I guess the other way to emote is dynamics.
Amazing player, I could listen him all day.
amazing player . It seems he de runs a normal action, not setup just for slide? Does someone know ?
I always recommend that. Don’t set up a guitar for slide, just play it normally. It teaches you to have a light touch and be subtle. The Derek Trucks Method.
JD feels everything he plays. I think that is what sets him apart from the crowd.
MAAAAAAAAN THE HIGH E, I recently started to work on slide playin, and i having so much trouble with the high E
Talked to JD after a recent show he did. The guy is down to earth and a class act.....and plays his ass off. Killer drummer too. Reminded me of Mitch Mitchell. His band is well worth the price of admission. I can't say that about many acts these days.
Does he still play in Nashville? We're supposed to be going there if this virus crap tones down... What's the name of his band?
2:16 ... all accomplished instrumentalists can relate to that. When you hit that point of saying "yeah, I can do it" then you've got it for life!
Super talented! That said, SIT STILL!!!
Cool as.👍
Just a suggestion and maybe as a courtesy, interview in an area where there is no door opening and closing often. It is very distracting. Greg and Janet are providing their time to provide some of the history of their company. You have produced a historical interview that I hope stays on CZcams for a very long time. Thank you for posting!
Great guy would love to see him play
Wat amp is jd using in this video? that reverb is lovely
kevinrichardson14 looks like an early 1960s Princeton with separate tube reverb unit sitting on top
This guy is awesome! Found out about him in a cover band called Lexington lab band. He was Doing a set of Johnny cash songs. He can flat wear a telecaster out!
Another stupid scarf from the collection.
and just as you couldn't play his guitar as well as him, you couldn't wear his scarf as well
Stupid scarf end of,in my opinion
@@bpy4073 Fuck you hater lol
Is the 335 the right color for you? Bwahahaha
Seriously everytime i see JD i see Gru's twin brother
Holy Reverb.
it is Holy
I’m thinking JD Simo is becoming one of my favorite guitarists.
I can gaze at that ES-335 the whole day
wise advice!
Jd simo is so cool man Deep as the ocean is wide on so many levels of music/art/virtuosity/ etc
