My dad died on july 26 2024 after struggling for 3 months.
Thanks surgeons!!! I had a L5S1 posterior fusion a month ago. Stage 2 spondy with par defect. Surgery took 3.5 hours, First attempt 3 months ago was anterior but the surgeon after an hour of trying aborted. I worked at a distribution centre for 20 years and obviously I'm fighting for compensation, They think my back problem wasn't affected by the DC at all.
I'm sorry to hear that, and hopefully you are feeling better after surgery.
@@summitmedicalinstitute Its been a month and I'm doing better :) I appreciate all you doctors. Thankyou
He doesn't look like a surgeon 😷 Weird how humans judge a book by it's cover
I can confirm that he is indeed a surgeon. Thanks for watching.
@@summitmedicalinstitute I definitely see he is one haha I'm just saying, some people look different to what your used to seeing in a profession. Great video
What about your sterile processing technician they are the big reason your able to do your job
There are so many people working behind the scenes to help us be successful in and out of the operating room. We could not do our job without them. Central processing is one of those, and plays a key role in ensuring a safe and effective procedure for our patients. We appreciate everything they do.
Videos like these motivate me to become a surgeon.
It's a great career path. We are grateful for all of our medical providers.
I love doctors. I appreciate doctors but when you find out that a lot of it is just pain management and a lot of these situations can be prevented with proper education. It just shows that the medical industry is all about the money. It’s mostly about the money.
We couldn't agree more that education and prevention should be at the forefront of medicine. We will always try to provide and exhaust all conservative measures before taking someone to surgery.
Which device was used in his surgery? Any response is appreciated.
Thank you for your question. M6 and Prodisc C are the most common devices we are using for disc replacement
@@summitmedicalinstitute thank you very much for responding. I recently had two level cervical replacement with the Simplify device, and as a hobbyist martial artist, am concerned they will not serve me well when I resume training. I was interested in the a Prestige LP, Prodisc, or M6. Unfortunately, I could not find a surgeon willing to place any of those devices. Should I be concerned about the strength and longevity of the Simply devices? Thank you for your time, and for all you do.
So what can “we” do?!!!
That is a great question and would be a good conversation with your treating provider to determine what would be appropriate for your unique case.
Sometimes I feel like there is this energy send it towards me in order for me to use my credit card and there is a message coming through my head that don’t you dare to do it they are a scammers with evil intentions today I use for AT&T and something weird happen in between the messages. It’s it’s difficult to protect myself I’ve been against bad energy what happened to love what happened to customer service what happened to respect of the elderly and label? What happened? What is love 💗
2 months ago , i had a surgery, started radiation and chemo,🙏🙏🙏🙏 inshalla Allah will help us all,
Good luck with your journey, thank you for watching
Hello, I turn 57 in a few days time and I've been a T2 diabetic for many years. This is the first time I have ever heard of a Back/Spine/Diabetes connection. My A1C is at 7, I am on the Trulicity/Tresiba/and a Novo Rapid combo. Due to Ozempic misuse in Montreal/Quebec at large, those who need it cannot get it. I've been on a waiting list for months now. I have stenosis in L3/4/5. I also have nerve compaction in T4/5. Also on a waiting list for spinal treatment. I've been living on drug maintenance for years now (Pregabalin/EX-St Tylenol), seeing that proper treatment for our public medical system is not available. BUT, if you can afford it, the Private route is there, for those with deep pockets. They will prescribe certain drugs for me but due to fluctuating kidney issues, I don't have access to any other form of oral medications. My options are very limited to what is available and what is possible. My back issues range from not being able to walk 3 blocks to grocery shop without having to stop and rest, amid the trip, and droning back pain that sometimes takes my breath away. Nobody seems to be in a hurry to find me viable treatment options, due to the fact that the public system here, is woefully lacking across specialized medicine for public access.
it's going to be a long journey but i will be a paediatric neurosurgeon.. from africa
That's exciting, I'm sure you will do great. Good luck with your training.
Hi doctor! I have mine scheduled September. My surgeon is using a titanium patch on the skull as well. What are your thoughts here? I’ve heard a lot of good things, but nervous about it.
Thank you for your question. Every case is unique and that is a great conversation to have with your treating provider. We have not traditionally used those patches, but they can be useful depending on the situation.
Hi all my name is trev i Have Hydrocephalus and i must be one of the lucky one my shunt doz not work i saw 9 years young and it stoped i am 63years young now and no trable
Thank you for sharing your experience
Thank you 🙏

Humans are more complicated than previously thought!
Agree, complicated in a lot of ways.
The mood and the way he entered walking at the beginning tells me he's a daily hero
Thank you for your comment. We are grateful to have Dr. Anderson with our group.
Are we not going to talk about the only not qualified to be in the operating room - the "neurosurgery" NP? I was shocked because no other MD or DO's who specialized in other fields cannot get the same access. I said what I said. Patients first.
Thank you for watching. Patient safety is always a primary focus. Nurse practitioners and physician assistants commonly act as first assistant in the operating room and increase efficiency and patient safety. We appreciate the great work they do.

Hello sir im RN my brother suffered from road accident had a brain injury diffuse axonal Injury.he is in vegetative state a year ..how much time will require to become fully conscious??
Thank you for your question. That can be very difficult to predict, however, as the severity of each injury is a little unique.
My baby has been diagnosed with hydrocephalus & has been delivered prematured (25 days before delivery date). Is being treated using Omaya with daily taping requirement. Since last 15 days there is no requirement of taping. What can we conclude... require your suggestion.. Regards
Thank you for your question. A complete review of the patient case would be needed to give accurate advice on treatment and prognosis. I would recommend communicating with the treating provider.
Wow, this is some cool stuff!
I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Bro my last name is chiari 😭
Can it cause 1/2 your body a loss of hot and cold sensation? 😢
I would not say that is a common symptom with this condition. Thank you for your question.
@@summitmedicalinstitute could Chiari cause a stroke?
Yes.
Can anyone give us an idea of the actual out of pocket costs for one of these surgeries with insurance and without insurance?
That's a great question and is very difficult to generalize as there are many variables that will affect the final out of pocket cost to the patient. Hospital fees, surgeon fees, and anesthesia fees can be different and each insurance plan will have different benefits.
Summit Medical Institute supplying Arc'Teryx jackets, you know you're in good hands! PS These doctors are the future of the world, incredible work for humanity!

Wow, I am
goobie woke up and left the matrix
I am too after watching goonie,Doobie.
goobie is soft
@@Giddygooncave I agree. It's best that he left the profession.
Doing unnecessary surgeries that won’t really help your patients, maybe some of them temporarily, but mostly it’s for money, to keep the hospital going. You know this deep down
Facts.
You base this off of literally one video by Goobie & Doobie. Very ignorant comment coming from someone who has not spent one day in the field.
@@samuellambertmurrayduncan1412 Truth only needs to be mentioned once. Regardless, it's common knowledge to hear unethical practices in the medical field. It's just unfortunate.

Thank you for your comment
June 2024 I had a consultation with Dr. Edward‘s office his PA based on the findings via MRI. said they would do MIS TLIF Based on a neurological journal’s own statistics, roughly one in four fusions fail, or the patient gets worse, sounds like Russian roulette to me only worse, 1 in 4 v.s. 1in 6. With a laminectomy, you can never unring the bell, I’m hoping they make advances ADR artificial disc replacement with only an 8% failure rate would be my choice accepting that I have a spondylolisthesis and I’ve been told I’m not a candidate. So I guess I just get to live with this. It’s been 12 years since my herniation 24 seven fun for the whole family.
Thank you for watching and I appreciate your comment. Risk vs benefit should be considered in every case and are unique to each individual. Hoping for the best for you.
Diagnosed in 2017. Still here.
That's great to hear
How are you doing ..any special thing?
Dud the trial and I want the permanent one put in. It made a Hell of a lot of diffrence with the pain. Can't wait, will know in 2 weeks when I get it
That's great to hear, thank you for sharing. Hoping all goes well for you.
Whars tye symtoms
Symptoms can vary quite a bit depending on the location and size of the tumor.
Definitely weigh your options, pros and cons, everyone experience/ symptoms differs.
That's great advice, thank you for your comment.

I want to be a neurosurgeon and I always love watching these “day in a life” -premed
Thank you for watching and hopefully you found it helpful. Good luck in your future.
Watch Goobie & Doobie. He speaks the truth.
@@RH-gz7orliterally just watched him last night
@@RH-gz7or Goobie's thinking is existential, which doesn't mix well with neurosurgery. He should have done ortho or something "easier" where the routine is mundane and you see the progress in your patients. Replacing ACLs all day isn't hard and you see your patients improve over time in the majority of cases. He's allowed to have his opinions but neurosurgery is not one big scam.
I'm going back to school and I'm going to be a pre-med as well. I want to be a general surgeon. I also really enjoy the "day in the life" videos. Gives a glimpse into what the life is like and what this career can look like!
Fracture at pars interarticular at l5
Cool?
I've been diagnosed with Chiari type 1 and I can tell you I have a lot more symptoms then this! Anxiety alone is nasty and out of control.
I'm sorry to hear that. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Greetings Chiari brothers and sisters! 😂 How’s them nasty migraine headaches??
I have congenital hydrocephalus. I have been lucky as I have only had 3 shunts and I am 53. It is possible to "outgrow" hydrocephalus or the need for a shunt. I ask as during some x-rays for an unrelated issue, it was discovered the my catheter is all broken up and was referred to a neurosurgeon who looked at the x-rays and past CT scans, we don't trust an MRI as we don't know if my shunt has any metal so I only do CT scans. My current shunt was installed around '76 or '77. I am not looking for a medical diagnosis but information. I haven't had any issues with my shunt since it was put in. I have just haven't heard of anyone "outgrowing" the need for a shunt.
Thank you for your comment. It's not that a person will "outgrow" the need for a shunt, but rather more often we will see that the shunt becomes less effective and thus patient may elect to stop using them or have them removed.
Why so many negative comments. I’m on my 5th of the trial I have at least 65 percent relief!
That's great to hear, thank you for sharing your experience.
Do not get a disc replacement surgery….they are a con…..they have so many problems that they have to be taken out. Fusion is the best surgery. Yes it’s a longer recovery but it works and it’s for life, it will not pop out, calcify, cause hypermobility or break. Only fusions deal with neck pain ( facet joint pain) with disc prolapse.
Thank you for your comment. There are always risks and benefits with every intervention and these should be appropriately evaluated with your treating provider before making decisions.
Trial sounds very painful being done while awake.
I was told it’s all painful by a patient.
Thank you for your comment, that is a valid concern. Everyone has a little different response, but it can be painful. Any concerns should be addressed with the treating provider beforehand to ensure a manageable experience.
@@summitmedicalinstitute Thank you for your honest response. Much appreciated.
