Vietnamese martial arts deeply rooted in Chinese Kung Fu have focused too much on forms rather than practical combat like Muay Thai, Cambodian bokotor, Burmese lethwei, karate, jujitsu, judo, and so on. You could easily defeat a normal person but not a warrior. This system needs a new perspective on traditional and practical. In Europe, Many foreign practioners teaching these arts put a lot efforts to close the gap not like in Vietnam where it orginated. Stop! Martial arts have to be practical besides tradition. Without being practical, martial arts don't go anywhere.

That shows you have no knowledge of Vietnamese martial arts, there are hundreds of styles/schools. There are impractical styles, and there are practical hard-core styles. Not sure about Judo, Jiujitsu but as for Muay Thai, and Bokotor, hundred years ago ancient Vietnamese has beaten Cambodian and Thai many times. In a country that martial arts were the number of hundred to thousand styles/schools that said many people there are born as fighters already, they just don't practice those arts for bloody sports or street fights, but when comes to war to protect the nation, Vietnam has proven unbeatable, and that is before gun become de facto in warfare. You just need to find the right school to practice.

instead of trying to be a keyboard warrior, why don't you look at history and facts that tell: the men in the video are direct descendants of the master of the Tay Son's army generals, who defeated both the Qing army (China nowadays, where chinese kung fu is from) and the Siam army (Thailand nowadays, where muay thai came from). As for Europe, the ancient Vietnamese army defeated the Kublai Khan army (the Mongol force that invaded and left their sperms & DNA's over most Europe) 3 times (yup, 3 fk big times). Sounds like your so-called "practical martial arts" performed so well in war...

very beautiful art with a blend of martial arts, I see Kung Fu, Taekwondo and wrestling. In my opinion it is very important for women because besides the Vietnamese women because they have very light hands, light body, are very light and fast with empty hands and armed with a machete or a pistol and are patient and calculating with a snaipe this talking about a police officer or a soldier. Very efficient art congratulations for your producers. the Vietnamese women resemble the women of the army of Israel. but a deadly detail is missing

Since there are so many schools, I can only name some of the more popular schools for you: Bình Định Gia, Nam Hồng Sơn, Nhất Nam, Thăng Long Võ Đạo, Tân Khánh Bà Trà, Bình Định Sa Long Cương and Thiên Môn Đạo. Vovinam is generally not consider a school of Võ Cổ Truyền though since the creator of Vovinam, master Nguyễn Lộc, he took elements that he considered good from various schools of Võ Cổ Truyền to make Vovinam. So Vovinam is like a descendant of Võ Cổ Truyền.
