A good old Swedish trad waltz, called Vals efter Ljuder Anders och Hållbus Totte. I heard this tune on one of Mats Edén’s (Swedish fiddle and melodeon player) records tonight and wanted to have a go right away. I’m also using new mics for this particular video. Let me know if you liked it! Peace ✌🏻 Played by Edvin Aronson on a 3-voice Hohner Corso in G/C.
Jimmy Duffy’s 1 & 2
zhlédnutí 978Před měsícem
A little set of two good old Irish barndances called Jimmy Duffy’s 1 & 2. Originally played in G, here in C. This is what it sounds like after having been sick for over a bloody week 😅 Haven’t played these tunes that much either, so it’s still a bit of work to do to get the right flow to it. Anyway, I wanted to make a video and there it is. Let me know if you liked it! Peace ✌🏻 Played by Edvin ...

Just bought this Hohner HA113 in G and wanted to try it out. I’m not used to play one row boxes, so it’s a struggle to say the least 😅 I was inspired to record this tune after I saw John Spiers play it in a video. Let me know if you liked it! Peace ✌🏻

The Irish hornpipe, An Súisín Bán. The mic picked up some of my breathing, but you’ll have to live with that I guess. 🗣️💨 Let me know if you liked it! Peace ✌🏻 Played by Edvin Aronson on a Hohner Corso (16 8) in G/C.

Joe Bane’s/Gypsy Princess. I first heard this set being played on the concertina by Cormac Begley and Jack Talty on their album ”Na Fir Bolg” a couple of years ago, and it has become one of my favourites. I highly recommend it! Let me know if you liked it! Peace ✌🏻 Played by Edvin Aronson on a Dino Baffetti Art 86 Wood melodeon in D/G. The guitar track was recorded by Kristian Lindberg. Recorde...

Skara Brudmarch, a Swedish tune composed by Ove Green. Played by Edvin Aronson on a 3-voice Hohner Corso in G/C. Recorded in Malmö, Sweden.
That was so beautiful I could cry.
Great !!!! Bravo
This was an interesting one. I picked up my G/C one to try it on that and I think it is playable on that as well, is there a particular reason why you choose the B/C and not your G/C? If you want an additional source of inspiration I can recommend Ingunn Bjørgo
@@TheRegretzOP Thanks! 🙏🏻 I no longer own a G/C box with accidentals, so this was my only option to play it in the original key. I’ll look that up, thanks 😄
@@Edvinaronson I see, that makes a lot of sense! She is posting on youtube so you will find a lot here. Well played by the way!
That was a great tune, well played, lots of Dark and Light just like a Guinness.
Thank you for being such a great ambassador for the diatonic accordion. You bring out the best out of the instrument, whatever the tonality! Thank you!
Thank you for your kind words 🙏🏻
Thanks for another great tune. It helps whenever you put what key the box you're playing on is in.
Thank you 🙏🏻 ☺️
I do like it. :)
@@louischarbonneau428 🙏🏻
You've got a heck of a lot of songs under your belt now. Do you ever just noodle around? What's that sound like? I'd be interested to hear
I’ve got plenty more coming up 😄 If I compose my own tunes, you mean? Sometimes when I get a feeling for it I can sit down and maybe produce something like an A-part, a nice melody that just comes from nowhere. But I guess I’m too lazy to actually complete it 😅 Maybe in the future
Beautiful ❤
Thank you 🙏🏻
Fint
Tack 🙏🏻
I enjoyed that too Edvin. Thanks for the post and for sharing your amazing skills. Brilliantly done. I love the bass on this little accordion. It sounded lovely. Like 186. Accordions are great you can take them almost anywhere and play away the afternoon or evening. Your Fan and Canadian Friend Patrick.
Another nice accordion tune that you played very well. Although I have not heard this song before I enjoyed it a lot that's because I have loved the sound of the accordion since I was a child. Well done BRAVO! I am self-taught. I loved the guitar back up and I noticed you didn't use the bass side with this little Squeeze box. Anyway, still a lot of good action and beautiful tones. Sounds very Irish.
Just beautiful ❤
Fabulous version! Well done. 👏👏
Bravo!!!!!!!
Well played
Hi Edvin. Love listening to your music. Any idea where I would get the notes for this tune for the fiddle, I've it nearly off but just to be sure😅
Hello! Thank you :) I’m sure you’ll find something on Google if you search for ”Guinness Waltz + notes/sheetmusic” or something like that. I just play by ear so I never use sheetmusic
@@Edvinaronson Thank you ❤️ I will work it out. 🙏
Luv it !!
Super comme d'habitude !...
This is a really beautiful melody. It's the first time I've heard it, but there's something familiar, something comforting, almost timeless about it. I'm a chromatic player, but I'd love to make this my next project piece. Effortlessly played, plenty of feeling - Thank You.
Thank you 🙏🏻 I bet it will sound beautiful on chromatic too 😄 Glad you liked it!
Hi Edvin. Gorgeous playing, as always. Masterful. What's the key on this one?
Hello! Thank you so much :) It’s a C/F box and I play in F major. I think it’s originally played in G major
@@Edvinaronson Thank you so much! Pure magic...
Arr, spel, ljud och låtval - fanimej full pott på samtliga. Tror även Portsmouth skulle göra sig bra på den där.
Åh tackar så mycket 🙏🏻⭐️ Portsmouth? Är det en låt?
@@Edvinaronson Ja precis, engelsk visa. Mike Oldfield har gjort en populär version av den.
This is great, I'm going to work on it!
Dark mood - lovely playing always great !!
Well done !
Thank you! ⭐️ 🙏🏻
@@Edvinaronson Well deserved. Keep it up! You are very good now and I suspect "great" in the not too far future.
👍👍😊😊De har vackra låtar i Älvdalen, den här valsen är en av dem. Och du spelar det fint. ❤
Tack så hjärtligt 🙏🏻
Great playing - love the deep sound of the 3voice GC
Thank you 🙏🏻
Very nice tune. How are the three voices of your melodeon tuned: MMH, LMH, or...? Anyway; zounds very good.
Thank you very much! It’s tuned LMH, but I think I might have taped off the H-reeds a while back. Not really sure if I changed it back 😄 But in that case it’s LM in this video
Great playing, great sound, great piece
Thank you ⭐️
I see plenty of very fancy and expensive accordions on you tube, but I still love the old pokerwork sound
Nothing beats the raw sound of a good old Hohner box. The only instrument that I own that can be regarded as expensive would be my Dino Baffetti. But I still prefer the Hohners 😏
@@Edvinaronson I find the sound from these boxes is great but the buttons are noisy. You really need to concentrate on toning it down if you don't care for all the clicking. Even then, it's marginal.
Skulle gärna lyssna på dig live när du spelar durspel. Finns det någon möjlighet för det framöver? Tala bara om tid och plats så tar jag bilen och kör ned från Göteborg till Malmö! 😊
Hey Edwin, thanks so much for this great song, directly startet to learn and love it. As thank you I want to recommend you a song. The Cornerhouse, obviously you know it. Find a great version from Grace Dowling from Tumbleweed in youtube...
Erica in G? Great sounds and with your trademark lilt. So so good and thanks. I have dry tuned my Corona so it sounds similar. Bit heavier with the extra reeds but I sit to play like you. I think if you have a larger bellows area then they are easier to play and you don't run out of gas so quick. Is that correct thinking?. Always love your playing. Pete
Hello Peter! This is a Hohner Corso in G/C :) Originally these tunes are played in G, but I play them in C major in this video. I also struggle to keep the air in the bellows, but an advice is to press the bass and chord buttons quickly. It’s often the bass side that makes you run out of air, in my experience. To press the bass buttons quickly can also give a nice rythm to the tune. Keep struggling 😁
Прекрасно! Подскажите что за модель гармони?
I don’t understand, sorry
@@Edvinaronson Wonderful! Tell me what kind of model is harmony?
Thanks Edvin. I have been struggling with Princess Royal. I have had a hard time finding a used DG box stateside. I do have a GC Corso and hope to make some progress on these barn dance tunes. Please keep posting maestro! Grateful.
Btw, glad you are feeling better!
Thank you, friend 🙏🏻 Remember that you can slow down the video further in the settings if you need. I usually end up playing faster in my videos than I intend to 😅 And by the way, if you have problems finding a D/G box, you could actually buy separate reed blocks in D/G and just install them in one of the boxes you already own. I’ve done that a few times. Do you own any other models than that Corso? Peace 🙏🏻
@@Edvinaronson pardon me for delayed response. I’m just learning this CZcams communication tech. I have a pre-poker work CF in Gray perloid, as I believe you do as well. I have a black Erica GC. I have an AD Poker work, which was my original box that I purchased 10 years ago on eBay. I have numerous other boxes in various degrees of playability. Unfortunately, I’ve only managed to learn approximately 10 tunes over the past 10 years. I also have an HA 114 in C. Your videos have inspired me to invest in my efforts. Thanks again, my friend.
Bloody brilliant.
Making a simple tune meaningful
Edvin, Do you read music or play and learn these tunes by ear?
No mind. I see in another post that you play by year. That is very encouraging. Thank you for sharing your time and talents.
Hello! Sorry for the late reply! Yes, I only play by ear. Glad you like my videos :) Take care
Snyggt! Kommer vi få se fler videos med detta durspel? :)
Tack! Det kommer garanterat 😃
I am in NH, and know the author of this tune, how nice to see how far it has travelled.
Cool! I'll learn that on my G garmon.
Good job
Great stuff ! I am sending this to all my Morris friends
Please do! 🙏🏻 Glad you liked it!
Beautifully done. Love your playing
That makes me glad 🙏🏻 Take care!
Philippe P
Bonjour! As far as I know, this tune was originally composed by the Irish composer O’Carolan, but this specific version is quite different from the original, which is played in a minor key. This one version is more in the style of the English Morris tradition, I believe. Trust me, I struggle a lot with fast push & pull’s too 😅 Just start slow and get familiar with the structure of the tune. Then you will be able to play it. Just allow it to take time, and practice :)
Hard to believe you've been playing for only four years. Good work. Thanks from Philadelphia
Lovely. Nice mellow sound from the G box
Bonjour et merci pour ce moment musical. À bientôt. Philippe P
That's good work. Thanks from Philadelphia
Thank you, Its always a pleasure to hear you play, how strange, I did'nt know such a instrument existed, with one row, (I don't play).
They sure have a nice raw sound. It’s very limiting type of box, but I’m starting to like it more and more. I’m glad you liked it too! ⭐️😊
