The Great Britain XVI 2024
A look at the three locomotives taking part in the 2024 Great Britain XVI rail tour which was run by the Railway Touring Company. We departed London, Victoria Station on Saturday, 13 April and returned to London, Paddington Station on Sunday, 21 April. During the tour we visited: Dartford, Faversham, Folkestone, Maidstone, Cheltenham Spa (overnight), Lancaster (overnight), Carnforth, Glasgow (overnight), Stirling, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness (overnight) Edinburgh (overnight), Liverpool (overnight), Swansea (overnight), and Gloucester.
Due to operational reasons (central locking), British Rail Mark 2 carriages were to be used this year. I understand the braking system placed a limitation on the locomotives able to haul the service. This year, there were just three: 34067 Tangmere, 45407 Lancashire Fusilier, and 44871 an LMS Stanier Class 5.

A visit to the Qaqortoq community. With a population of 3,050 in 2020, it is the most populous town and the municipal capital in southern Greenland and the fourth or fifth-largest town on the island. We were entertained in the old church with Inuit Drum Singing and something a little more modern.

I’ve always wanted to go to Liverpool
Love the sound of these bells, beautiful deep tones and I'd love to ring there sometime 😊
Lovely clear video of all 6 bells in the method and at a nice speed for a learner like me! I don’t suppose you could do another video that has singles called in it?
Why half muffled
Happy Easter all. See you Thursday.
A big thank you to the staff and residents of Heightside House in Rawtenstall for helping me recover from a serious emotional illness ❤️🏴🏴🏴☮️👍🎸
Pretty much like chesterfield but the 9 and tenor are hard and the ringing room is very spacious
They’re like chesterfield’s ring of 10
Wonderful Trucks
Ray has kindly filmed & posted this to help a struggling band on Alderney come to grips with touches of Grandsire Triples - a great help & much appreciated:-)
Best ring of 10.
We are an island band and trying to ring a touch of grandsire triples. The view of all the ropes is excellent:-) This video is super helpful. Can you let me see more of it please?
I haven’t kept the original from 2018. I recorded a touch we rang today. Hope this helps. czcams.com/video/zpbISBQgoCY/video.htmlsi=dT-CiLDsdOpkML7L
Perfect - Really appreciate this!
Seen that once in York in the 60s I think what a beautiful piece of machinery .
Where is this at
Blackburn Cathedral.
@@ray.hutchings ok thanks just wondering
The fastest kettle in traffic.
Is it possible to post the whole of this quarter peak or a longer excerpt. I am getting to grips with called GT and this video has been so helpful. Ben (Chedworth, Glos. x6 bells, Rudhall)

Has the road ever flooded at the bottom of Herbert street? Thanks
I didn’t know people can manage CSM in a 82cwt Tenor!
A wonderful selection. It took me back in time. I remember all of those vehicle designs.
Lovely to see these vehicles again. I have a corgi 1/50 scale model of the Leyland Octopus with the 3 tanks in the Walter Southworth livery which I noticed going past.
Love this
Are any of these Herbert street?
Yes, the first couple are the footbridge at the north end of Herbert Street.
both these bells and st sillas are john taylor st judes are john taylor only bells 1 to 4 the rest gillett and johnson hung on 2 tiers
There’s some bloody power there mate.
6 bells treble is john taylor 2nd is samuel smith 3rd is william oldfield 4th and 5th unknown and tenor 14cwts thomas mears hung on 2 tiers
Amazing ❤
Tenor needs to catch the sally lower down
Short trains today. I wonder there must be a weight limit on how much these little engines can pull. 🤔
is there any photos
1.27 ,150 ve 2.10 daki leyland kamyonların servisinden çalıştım.turkiye de keşke devam etseydi üretimi 😢
Not enough smoke
These are really too big.
Remarkably soothing!
they are anticlockwise
No. They are a clockwise ring.
ray on doves it doesnt show the frame for the bells
anticlockwise
Pretty cool to watch ....It's Church Time. I had no idea people actually ring those bells ...I thought it was electric...silly me
It is a bit like Shipley near Bradford where we got going again
It's not really like Shipley. Mytton were far worse. There is more unguided rope, the bells have wheels that are a lot larger than a 12cwt six should have, the bells have big, heavy timber stocks and none of the bells are "tucked up"-all of the weight is well below the bottom of the gudgeons so they need to be ring more like an 18-20cwt six would be rung.
I love hearing them
in the past the parade consisted of everything the area produced such as industrial and agricultural products. - now its basically a parade of state dependent single mums, which i guess is still a reflection of the towns output.
these bells were cast almost at the same year as chesterfeild\s bells which are 10 bells cast by mears and stainbank tenor 25-1-5cwts and a scantus bell by whitechapel
great video!
Sounds really good. You need to come down to Isle of Wight to ring little bob at the the home tower at Mary’s Braiding
i m now reading the nine tailors
Same
some amazing pieces here. i was at manchexter '97! was great to meet jerry and charlie adlard
tenor 22-2-16cwts
That looks really interesting, I’m from Crewe but haven’t been to the heritage centre for a long time despite being on my doorstep. Hope you enjoyed it :)
that person at 0:15 that took something out of a bag he looks like Andy Pollock the tower captain of ST James Barrow In Furness
Ye shall go out with JOY and be lead forth of PEACE📯
They are really nice.
