Stuart pearce was practically playing at home, as when younger he played for stonebridge, just over a mile from wembley stadium Pearce must of felt weird he then later got to play at wembley so many times, and it must of felt like playing at home for him He worked for brent council, which was the borough that wembley stadium is in, totally ruined today brent, over run by non white crime. I ended up being a Liverpool fan but in the aftermath of being baptized into football from Italia 90, this was captivating. When Villa lost the 2nd leg it was heartbreaking.

Nottingham Forest were one of my favourite teams to watch in the late 80's and early 90's.

Rather a crucial First Division relegation "four-pointer". But the 1-1 draw did little to help either club, for both Spurs and Sunderland were relegated at the end of the 1976-77 campaign, Spurs after a near thirty-year spell in Division One, and Sunderland after just one season back in the top flight.

A truly vital top-of-the-table match at the time. Liverpool on top, Ipswich one point behind in 3rd spot. Anfield was full to the rafters. I was happy to be there.

How on earth David Pleat agreed with the offside decision against Lee Chapman early in the first half is beyond me. Even with the offside rules back then where level meant offside, Lee was a good yard or so onside. No wonder I was so confused about the offside rule when I was little when goals like that were scored, looked miles onside only for a so called respected figure in football to say offside was an excellent decision 😂

I remember clearly in early 80s Wednesday fans jumping over the walls, kids under turnstiles...the official attendances were often far from what was really their. Officially 55k, goodness knows how many got in. Same for semis. wonder how many got in to the stadium then.
