How do the Hoyt Trad limbs compare to the Uukha Selenga in terms of forgiveness? I'm starting to think the Selengas are quite unforgiving and tend to punish shots much harsher than other bows.
@@mccarthy86 I actually prefer the Selengas. I like a more softer feel to the limb with less stacking. Plus I had these Hoyt Limbs upside down to get the Tiller I wanted.
@@Maddie_Madds Yeah I heard those limbs don't perform as well in speed but wasn't sure about forgiveness. Thanks for the reply.

Most trad archers have a bad release. Some of this has to do with “chasing the target.” I think that a bad release is a subtle form of target panic. As mentioned, most trad archers accept their bad releases and incorporate it into their shot sequence. You also pluck the string (something that I do - only much worse than you). Instead of “pull pull pull” my mantra is “launch the arrow, launch the arrow” this takes my focus away from the target and puts it back on my form. I do a lot of blank bale practice. When I shoot w/ my archery bud, he watches me closely and/or shoots a video. My form holds together until about 10 yards, which is where I have to start thinking about aiming and that’s where I start plucking.
It's a constant learning process. And whatever mantra works for you to get you to put your conscious mind into the movement is the best one and such a personal thing. I like "Pull, pull, pull" because I can say it slower or faster depending on how I'm feeling. If my environment is more distracting or challenging like this shot trainer was, I can say it more intensely to myself to make my thoughts much louder than my thinking. And I can keep saying pull even after the shot breaks as my follow through needs work, and so it reminds me that the shot isn't over when I let go of the string.

Greetings from Colorado! For my 70th birthday, my wife gave me a 3 hour session w/ Tom Clum, Sr of Rocky Mountain Specialty Gear. I shot a bunch of different bows while Tom did a shot analysis. He recommended a 19” Satori w/ Uukha Gobi mediums for a 62” bow. Tom tested the entire Uukha line and explained that the Gobi’s shoot w/in 5 fps of the Selengas. I also had a lesson and Tom fit the bow for me and tuned it. Until I shot this bow, I subscribed to the bromide “it’s the archer and not the bow.” I now understand that an archer can limited him/her self by not taking advantage of good equipment. The Uukha limb design is not only smooth, it eliminates a lot of stacking. Try shooting a Samick Sage or similar recurve then shooting Uukha limbs and you will see what I mean. Somewhat off topic, but I have to mention, my wife, a massage therapist, highly recommends protecting the ears when outside. she approves of your headband! Keep shooting and yes - more videos please!
Thank you. That's so awesome you got to experience a lesson with Tom Clum. I am a student of the online Solid Archery Mechanics course myself. I'm going ETAR this year an I hope I see Mr Clum there. The Archer in my opinion accounts for most of the shot, as a good archer can shoot a beginner bow very well, and I've seen people with good bows that they shoot very badly. But I agree that equipment does matter and plays a big part, but the Archer is the bottom of the tuning pyramid. As for the headband, I always wear a headband or cap when I shoot. Not really for ear protection though, it just keeps my long hair out of my face & also away from the bowstring.

I can make arrangements for you to shoot at my archery bud’s private 3D range. You and my wife can compare caps and headbands - she has quite a collection. Heck, I will even pay for you to have a massage from my wife.
Thats almost my bow! I have the 19" buckskin riser with 50# Selengas. I went for the NAP Centerest, just got it a few days ago its really nice. But I went with the Hoyt Superlite quiver because it keeps that carbon fiber/ buckskin aesthetic, also its bolted on solid. My arrows are Axis 400 spine, with a total weight of 495 grain. I'm training to do hunting, its such a nice bow, and you got a really nice range too! Would you recommend the trad vanes over the feathers?
Awesome! The Buckskin color just looks so nice. I do like feathers, they're definitely easier to fletch than the Trad vanes. However, I shoot Trad vanes exclusively right now. The reason why is because I live in the UK, and it rains almost every day here, and Trad vanes are waterproof. Therefore, they're a more reliable option for unorthodox weather conditions.

I love the mentality you use. Some traditional archers accept poor form as long as it is consistent, and they don't realize how much better they would shoot if they cleaned up the technique.

Great shot, too bad you didn't record the mission status after harvesting. I shot two mouflons at 600m + and so far didn't get credit for either of them. I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong or perhaps the mission is glitched? I love the challenge, but this is turning into a PITA for no apparent reason. :)
I think I did get the missoin complete for it. But I know there was a wolf mission in Transylvania that I completed and it didn't register it as complete.
