Trying to make some progress in technique and checking it in the video. I avoid setting down under my body. When setting my skate down beneath my nose (the traditional concept) I am in a vertical position. In a vertical position I can push but downward. That does not take me forward at all. Pushing in a vertical posture takes more energy than leaning to the side by using my hips (the general ce...

thank for this video :)
Love the Dynamics of this Video with the music change @ 1:00 thanks for posting...Joey you're a machine! :)
@kentek3141 "automagically", I agree. A better knee angle is the right answer. I fully agree with you! Yes, it's much like free fall.
Nice style... My only comment- step across further. You will feel like you are falling but you wont. The knee bend will automagically work itself out.
@elven0ne yes he is <3
Your foot is landing too far underneith your body. There is not a true underpush happening. With a DP, your foot should land straight or slightly pigeon-toed. At that time, your weight shifts over your leg causing the underpush to occur. In your video, your foot is landing too far underneith and no power is being generated by the double push. It looks like you are trying to generate the underpush with your legs rather than your body (shifting your wieght).
Excellent routines I practise at least one of them for 30 min everytime I skate. It's really made me a better skater! Thanks for posting.
@firstskate - I hardly wait for the 2011 spring to get out and start practice all the moves, seen in your posts or other clinic speed skating movies. Now I will start on ice... just for fun at least. We only have rinks in open air, and they are small on size. Unfortunately here in RO the ice speed skating doesn't have much support and no tracks for this. Would love to feel the glide on ice on a short boot... Thanks for the movies you are posting.
@lepsulet I'll download them soon. Thanks for asking...
what happened with the 2010 year videos ? didn't take any ? if you have you should post them... the routine is great !!! thanks!
great!!!
Nice try man you´re close to get it, an advise: Try to transfer more the wieght or your weist to each side, so the double-push will be more powerfull and you´ll advance more, try to work on your knees angle, you´re kind of standed, get down little more
yeah i do it too. i've finished short track for this season, so its time to go inline:) i've just finished my first individual skating now.. euphoric:) oh.. and thanks for the song (for firstskate too) keep rollin' ;)
If you have a CZcams account, you can find this track in the Audioswap library list in Acoustic/G-Spott/City Streets/.
G-spot City Streets is that song. I'm going to work hard this new upcoming season 2010 to improve my technique and make it closer to Joey's one! )))
does anybody know what's this song used in the video?
Roll4life ;)
gracias, aprovecho de decirte que, descarge tu video con otros de youtube y confeccione un dvd con tecnicas, entrenamiento funcional, pliometria, entre otras cosas para la gente del club de patinaje de rengo.Chile
Mucho éxito para su hija!
the less bent your knees are the shorter the push stride will be so bend the knees around 110 deg and try that
esos ejercicios los realiza el entrenador de mi hija gracias bien aporte
I'm working on that. As I lean the head should move in line with the vertical (longitudinal) axis of the body. I have had difficulties in keeping the head and the upper body with the vertical line of the body when I am leaning. By keeping the whole body (and the head) straight with the body when leaning results in more weight directly on the skates. This gives more power in skating. I think the only way to get more horizontal amplitude (lateral movement) for my head is to lean more.
Don't you think about more horizontal amplitude to your heaad? opposite to direction of push.
Bnuyp_Nu75U&feature=related is a great skater. Yann sets down outside his body, consequeces are remarkable footwork & upper body swings and leans. That's Yann's concept. He does it right but I try to learn an easier way. I have not said a word about the double push. I like more the single push. But I don't like the word "push". I like more words like to roll, to fall and to lean. I already said my focus was not the low butt; I tried more to lean and fall . I am always on my heels.
I accidentally removed your comments, sorry! .When setting down my skate beneath my nose I am in a vertical position. In a vertical position I can push but upwards. The vertical position does not move me at all. Skating vertically takes more energy than leaning to the side by using my hips or the general center of mass and the generous help of gravity. The pendulum-like motion from one side to another makes skating continuous. There is no first or second push. No push is stronger or weaker.
Nice remark! My focus was not on getting the butt lower but on FALLING/moving the hips from one side to another. Remember, the hips are the center of the weight of the entire body. The hips are most vital and even leading in moving and in skating... See how Diego Rosero or Joey Mantia are roller skating or how Sven Kramer is speed skating. You see, there is no particular set-down line. That's what I'm training. You are right my butt shoud be lower.
