Adullams Cave Music

Adulams Cave Music is the culmination of a 50 year project to adapt psalms and traditional hymns for contemporary worship. New music has been composed for these and, in some cases, wording has been updated for use in personal and corporate praise settings. The hymns are drawn from a wide cross-section of Christian traditions and across many historical periods.
Some of this music has been recorded and published in the past, but through the medium of digital technology I hope to make this body of work accessible to a wider public.
The music may be used for personal devotion, but for public use permission for printing and performance should be obtained by emailing adullamscavemusic@gmail.com.

i learnt it to this very tune from our dear departed brother chris bower while travelling on the road with him, and i found myself in a place this morning where it was very much the battle hymn of my heart again you have my eternal thanks for this arrangement, dear Dr. Kelly - it has often met me in my need - and you are often in my prayers, Sir apologies for any lack of transparency: this user name is a necessary evil for the places i now travel on the information super-highway

This is Psalm 356 in the old Methodist Hymn Book that I cherish for worship. I was so happy when I saw John had covered it with such humility. THi have been listening to a lot of your tracks and noticed a lot of melody by John Kelly. I have been trying to find out more information on him but I’m guessing he has a connection with KIngs Church, Bangor Northern Ireland…Wonder if you can help a bit more as I would like to hear his melody’s to Fight the good fight and Rise up o men of God

I remember singing this great hymn to this tune when I was a student. I can play by ear so no problem for me, but my praise band members can't? Does anybody know where I could get the sheet music? rev David Cupples, Enniskillen Presbyterian.

Got the page photocopied in nearby Erne Business, returned the hymnbook, and I hope we will sing it this Easter. delighted to have at last found the music for this great tune and yes, a fabulous hymn. BTW I gave away my copy of The Christian Book of Mystical Verse and deeply regret doing so.

Hi John, I learned the original words version back in 1981, as well as many of your other revived Wesleyan hymns in Ballysillan Presbyterian church. I came across the words recently and worked out the chords. Just one thing, I learned it with a G at the end instead of a C. Many thanks for your tunes of old hymns, they have been a source of praise throughout the last 40 years.

I was reading in John Wesley's journal and in it he said that it was a usual or common practice to close a service with the hymn called Harken to the solemn voice. When I read that, I just had to find it and listen to it. It took me a year to find it but I finally did right here and I am so happy to have finally heard it. My eyes are filled with tears of joy. God bless you brother for sharing this. I will cherish this song forever. I love John Wesley and I can't wait to see him in heaven. Hearing this song made me feel like I was present at one of his open air meetings. The Spirit of God filled me to overflowing. I can't say enough about this video. Blessings my dear brother.
