    Hi Pete, I've not personaly dealt with this sort of problem but have grafted commodore running gear into old kingswoods and learnt a bit about fuel injection and it's systems. What I think is there is a neutral/negitive wire that is common to all the sensors that has broken and/or somehow this reffernce is not been seen by the ecu which means no zero volt refference sending all these sensor high which confirms at least the positive wire is ok. Hope this helps in your search...

      Hi, you are 100% correct. Except it’s inside the ECU that this wire breaks or unsolders. There’s a guy in New Zealand that repairs one on video. Thank you so much for your advice and your support. I am going to change the ECU and if that doesn’t fix it I guess it will be going where the last owner was sending it to….😂

    Did a manual swap on my auto, replaced everything except the BCM, (at the time didn't realise it needed to be replaced.) and it did the same thing, just continued to crank. Went back to the wrecker i got my manual swap from, got the BCM, plugged it in. and Volia, all was good. Also, double check all earths are connected to the engine block, as this also caused dramas starting, 1 earth not torqued down and it wouldn't start. And, if the car starts randomly running rough and stalls out refusing to start, well check you error codes and i bet you one of your injector plugs is damaged. solder that up and shes all good. Alot of little things i've learnt working on my 05 VZ.

      Hi, are you 100% sure that the fuel pump is pumping the right pressure? I’ve seen those pumps snap the hose fitting and even though you can hear the fuel pump in the tank working it’s not creating any pressure. As far as your no crank only relays clicking should only be battery or the starter motor has decided to cease up from sitting. Get a hammer and give it a tap it may unjam…. Good Luck let me know how you go…. Thanks for your message and support….

    Hi mate. Im a recently qualified mechanic, I am into commodores. I stupidly in a rush put a new battery in my VT v6 wagon in the wrong way, terminals went on and parks happened. Long story short the car is blowing or just not liking DFI modules lately right before I decided to try and sell it, it still is. So I figured the ECU is temperamental and might have an issue. The car runs mint but sometimes it just died and swapping in another DFI module, even though it will work on another car, it just wants a new one. WEIRD. Just thought I should mention this for a ECU failure cause and effect. I don't see why can't you just swap in a new loom, ecu, key, bcm and all that for this one? Cheers.

      @@howtopete33 there are two plugs one above the other. Near the side of the thermostat to the right side. Mice and possums sit in there also and chew the cords. The ECM has all bonded earths and sense wires to each sensor. Sometimes the sensors get shorted by animal or human interaction and not get any readings. If someone has a tech2 obd scanner , can read that side of the control and may show abnormal activity and show the range is open or the resistance is way off chart. Some obd scanners cannot detect it.

      I've also found if you put in a scan tool into the obd2 it'll start right away and you can drive around with it connected without issues and turn the car off and start it up again with it still connected as soon as you unplug the obd2 it'll cut out

    Check the neutral safety switch signals. There can be faults with the PIM. There can be issues with the slip ring (which I think you already cleaned?). Much of the fault finding requires a bidirectional scan tool to see what is talking to what and an oscilloscope to see what the signals are doing. You can download the factory manual with every pinout and plug . Always back probe.

      @howtopete33 Před 3 měsíci

      You are on the money my friend… I’ve kind of narrowed it down to the PIM but I can’t seem to get a wiring diagram/manual for it even though I bought two separate ones on line. As I mention in part 5 the same faults keep recurring. So the next step I think I’m going to replace the PIM and see what happens…. Thank you so much for your input it means a lot and thanks for the support….

      @@howtopete33 Josh from Joshes Car Corner covered some PIM details in his ECM conversion video. Not sure which one though. Also if you go to Just Commodores, you’ll find a link to the genuine factory manual. I can’t post a link here.

      Thank You very much for your kind words and support. To be honest I’m not a big fan of the commodores last commodore I like is the VH. However I have a soft spot for Australian Made things hence I’d like to put this Ute back on the road. I’m going to keep at it and hopefully I get to the bottom of what’s bothering him/her. The hardest part is that so many people have had a go at it and it was stripped when I went to pick it up. All the panels are only holding on by a couple of bolts cause if I left them in the back of the tray when I picked it up they would have been full wrecked after 300ks…. Hopefully I find the issue sooner rather than later as my viewers must be getting tired of no results….lol…👍🏻

    What i have done is just swap the passenger side seat base with the drivers side as the are the same and bolt up to the runner.

      You are 100% right but then you end up with a dud passenger side. Ideally get a passenger side from another car and put it in the driver’s side… Thanks for your comment and support…👍🏻

    Mate what was that you used to power the relay

    • @howtopete33
      @howtopete33 Před 4 měsíci

      Nothing. When you turn the ignition on that powers it . All I did was just manually activate it instead of the ECU. If your relay doesn’t have power you have a fuse issue I’d say…

    Thanks Pete. Yours was the second how-to video I watched. The first, DIY How To and Reviews, claimed you couldn't remove the ring (he had the whole assembly including the retaining ring) so he took an oscillating multi-tool and cut thru the retaining ring. I just had the retaining tether like you so your video was spot on. Your method is the best one - whenever you start cutting things apart, look for another video. Oh, by the by, you can remove the ring. Mine came off when I hammered the first pin out 😁
