I did my city and guilds 706 1&2 in the early 90s under chef Robinson who was also a family member :)
Was a landmark college and just like that ...... its gone. all that history just lost to time. now housing? thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers
Yes. £1.00 😊 UK.
:-) thanks for watching and commenting cheers
Most enjoyable, thank you 😊 UK
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks
Why not do a video of the moby dick thats off curzon street, still there but now part of birmingham uni. Only old pub left there now. The railway that was on curzon street long gone now.
Thanks. Already done one. czcams.com/video/NGc_RwL2v_8/video.htmlsi=FqVIPhhB6RfkPOjd
Worked here from 1980-86. Waste Disposal Accounts Dept. The Christmas parties there were a riot! Sadly the County Councils were abolished in 1986 and I moved onto Walsall Council.Local was The Ben Johnson - always rammed on a Friday afternoon, or alternatively The Turk's Head. Great memories of this place.
Thanks for watching and comment , we have both The Turks Head (now student housing ) and the Ben Johnson (now a takeaway) on videos on our channel. How things change? Cheers
Less drunk in society, that’s a good thing
Lose of Jobs and Community Places Though.
Another pub I used occasionally when my car was being serviced at a nearby garage. Very friendly staff. Shame it’s still closed.
The inside is completely ripped out, can't see it ever going again as a pub?
@@joyfuladventureaudits Really? That’s a shame. I agree, given the area it’s in I can’t see anyone gambling on opening it as a pub now.
I’d occasionally pop in on my way home from work in the early ‘90s. I think someone lost their life in there after being s tabb ed and not long after it closed. I liked the old boozers around the back of Digbeth, the Spotted Dog, Billy’s Bar, the Old Wharf, the Forge Tavern and the White Swan. All a bit rough and ready but they suited me.
Shame it couldn't have been saved? all that history just lost to time.
@@joyfuladventureaudits Sad, isn’t it? Pubs are such important parts of the social fabric of our country (or they were, anyway), we even navigate by them. “Carry on past the Grant, keep going past the Breedon, down past the British Oak then turn left at the Three Horseshoes.” Many of them have been there for well over a hundred years, but Britain is a very different place, now. Perhaps it’s inevitable they slowly disappear.
Thank God! 😊
Yes indeed!
I lived at the Swan Yardley from 1950 to 1953. My grandmother was the licensee her daughter my mom head bar maid and my dad the manager. My grandmother was born at the Australian Bar in Herst Street and they eventually took over the pub from my great grandparents. They then moved to the Breedon Cross and then onto the Swan. Her brother in law had the Mermaid Pub at the same time. One of her sisters had the 3 Horse Shoes in Stirchley and another sister had the Gypsies Tent on the Hagley Road. Another uncle had the King George the Fifth on the Bristol Road. These are just a few of the pubs my family have managed.
Wow, your family has a rich history in the pub business! It's fascinating to hear about all the different establishments they managed, from the Swan Yardley to the Mermaid Pub and the Gypsies Tent. You've got pub management in your blood! Thanks for sharing these memories - it's a great snapshot of Birmingham's pub scene in the mid-20th century.
@@joyfuladventureaudits My grandmother was born at the Australian Bar in Hurst Street in 1901 she was one of 5 girls who all had a pub in Birmingham and one of the sisters married the manager of the Alexander Theatre and tried to set up a circus in Birmingham that caught fire and he went back to the Alex and when he died his son my cousin became manager. I have a long history with this city.
Good news 🎉
Yeah its great new 128 years of history has been saved. lets hope the lad in the lane a 600 year old pub. Birmingham oldest pub in Erdington Birmingham can also be saved.

Its reopening inside HS2.....
Its been knocked down.
It closed way before 2015 sad loss was great 👍 in there
Shame all that history just gone like that .....
I was born and bred just up Adderley Road, in Arden Road. 1945. I passed the 3A's every day going to school. My dad and I drank in there for years. Before the name change there were large plate glass windows acid etched with the three A's. AAA. Symbol.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers
@@joyfuladventureaudits If you follow our old pub crawl route, after 3A's along Adderley road a short walk to the Olive Branch. Continue up Adderley Road to the Denmark Inn on corner of Adderley Road and Landor St, then directly opposite to the Brittania Inn. then to home in Arden Rd. We'd sometime do it in reverse order as we lived in Arden Rd close to the Brit'. Then after 3A's walk down Adderley Road to Crawford St go to the Gas House, then along to the London Inn on the corner. Turn Right to Saltley Gate and have one in the Tilt Hammer. Then stagger over to the No. 8 bus stop, take bus to top of Arden Rd and wobble down the hill to home. This only happened on special occasions.
Great pub I remember it well I drank in it played pool meet great people another pub gone birmingham will not be the same now all the pubs are going it was great going down to your local pub with out getting buses or taxis love the old days 😢😢

More British culture going down the toilet
Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers
So utterly disrespectful and anti British. You can bet the administrative counsellor who allowed the sale to go forwards was a Muslim. The Muslims have far too many mosques in the UK as it is if that wasn't enough the Islamic continent is so huge England is just a small island. They have more than enough mosques than they could ever need.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers
This is ashame eh, i used to drink in this pub before it closed down. It's amazing how the council will alow mosques to be built but never a church. Shows how this council favours muslims more than the christian people. It's probably to do with 'RACISM' . lol.
