Where Do Insects Go When It Rains? *Molly Keck*
Music is very distracting
Can I spray on my pears plum apples and cherries. I just bout a bunch and don't know much
Squirrels will dig holes and burry nuts and seeds like corn and stuff like that then burry them then try and cover them up - then if another one sees it doing this it may dig around the area a buncha holes trying to find what the other squirrel buried. Peanuts and Corn "squirrel food" people can get at many stores, be careful lol - those do all germinate and you may end up with a forest of corn popping up or mounds and sprouts of peanuts! Both actually grow pretty fast!
Super cool thanks! It has been raining in San Diego, and I wondered what happens to insects when there is prolonged heavy rain. So thank u!
Thanks!! Found out it was EARTHWORMS making those tiny holes . The dirt kinda looks like “dots” ice cream around the hole too
Its just food grade mineral oil. Dont pay criminal prices.
Thanks
Wow lots of great info!
I will be dragonfly watching….
Dozens and dozens of holes, across the whole acre + rural yard??
Frogs, to burrow for the winter. Up to four feet deep.
I really learn a lot with your program . I am a Intern Park Ranger, and this helped me to explain to children's group when I am teaching about the skins
They ate my fresh Basil every yearfout of 2.5 years 😢put me kyysilis in aMayo jar and got a very pretty white moths that flew into the bug zapper lethal.
Thank you..I am from India and we struggle to farm organically due to weed problem of Parthenium hysterophorus..Any ground cover recommendation that can overtake an arid sub tropics ?
Thank you
I’m new to the hobby and I just want to thank you for putting all this great info online
No safety glassesd and gloves. ☹
No more videos?
Are you aware that there are Bagworms in, at least, Anna TX. I found 1 cocoon about 2 years ago didn't know what it was. And now I know they will destroy the trees before we even realize they are there. I found 3 cocoons this season. Can you tell us how to get rid of this issue?
Would be interested to hear about meadow voles, gophers, and moles. I have meadow voles, and they have caused serious issues to my property. They spawn very often so it can be difficult to get under control if you don’t act fast.
Thanks! I found a tarantula hawk in my back yard.
To much turf grass, to much shade, to much inputs-should be TOO much, etc. darn auto correct
I saw 210 an was like san Antonio
Thanks, appreciate the tips and highlighting the superstar selections. Especially appreciate the specific varieties suggested on the plumbago and salvias. Please note, on slides, the butterfly is a “queen”, not a “queen monarch “.
Love this!! So helpful!
Hey Molly , You need a pop shield for your microphone apart from that .Awesome
I used BT. Worked very well on my SVB. Squash bugs on the other hand...💔
i have a family of 6 armadillos in my backyard. they come right up to me.
Molly, you are a breath of fresh air in a world of dry plant experts. Love your "little guys" and other non traditional comments. And the content is excellent!
Thank you for sharing
Thank you for the great information. I live in west Texas do you know where I can get the plants you listed? I have not seen them. Thank you.
Nice😊👍👍
Thank you! This was very informative!
Thanks for a great talk, David. Joyce Dare
Best presentation I have viewed that helps you learn about butterfly life cycles and how you can plan a garden! Great presentation!!!

What brand is the 18-5-9 fertilizer you talk about on the radio show and where can I find it? Thanks 😃
VERY COOL! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Should I fertilize now? My tree is about a 4” diameter.. can I expect a crop this fall?
If your tree is beginning to bud out, yes, now is the time to fertilize. Use one pound of ammonium sulfate per inch of trunk diameter or in your case 4 pounds, spread around the drip line of the tree and then water it in. If you had no pecans in 2020, there is a good chance you will have a crop in 2021.
Excellent! I appreciate the format of the presentation. I knew about preemergent weed killer application in late summer but did not know or remember the early spring application. Thank you!
We appreciate you watching! Take care!
We appreciate you watching! Take care!
How about citrus? Same application? Thanks
Citrus could be sprayed but it is usually not necessary; and you would only spray if you have aphids on the foliage and only if the tree is not pushing new growth. As a general rule of thumb we do not spray citrus trees with dormant oil, though we may spray the trees during the growing season with a summer oil.
What if there is already buds and tiny leaves?
If the tree still has a lot of buds which have not yet opened, then yes the tree can be sprayed with the dormant oil. It may burn a few of the ones that are open, but the closed ones will be just fine. If the majority of the buds are open, then do not spray.
Hello :) I found a mud wasp here in Australia. I was trying to move the mud capsule to a safe place. I accidentally cracked it and the pupae case fell out. My mum then picked it up and then I noticed the casing had ripped open a bit and I can see the wasp. It is a pale yellow and not moving. Is it dead? I would like to save it!
Great presentation. Took lots of notes for class I am teaching for another organization. And this wraps up my required continuing ed hours for 2021!! PBMG.
Great class. Thanks David.
Nice.
