I remember these. The "Dempsey and Makepeace" ones got used as part of the later seasons publicity package in the press.
Do you have a broadcast video of this video?
R.I.P GEORGE ALAGIAH
ও কে?
Oh, what a classic. Very cool!
This, for me, is the highlight track from "Mascara Streakz" (2022). Not one for comparing and contrasting especially since we're talking 42 frigging years! But it puts me 'in mind' of John Peel sessions from 1980/81.
I adore the conductor's style - not sure what it is but you can tell he really is feeling the music !
Still sound SUPERB
Classic. Always loved this.
RIP George
Brividi forti..il grandioso Steve che canta il mio amore David...da pelle d'oca❤
Does anyone know if there is a studio recording of the version of Chicken Man (Grange Hill theme) available anywhere? The breakdown and sax solo is funktastic and I need this in my life.
Amazing to see how much things have changed in the past 25 years. Haha, I worked in TV land in the lat 80's.
Song, Voice, Bass to me right in my heart.
This is extremly rare video. You hardly ever see and hear library music concerts because it isn't supposed to be played live. It needs to be available instantly and in its entirety, ready to be replicated, cut, edited and used for whatever purpose it is.
40:50 Thank goodness he can play the keyboard.
Gone but not forgotten George. A true class act.
I'm so sorry for the loss of George Alagiah. He was an exceptional talent. It's great to have this video to remember him in the future.
RIP George Alagiyah 😢
Keith Mansfield had some great tunes. Morning Broadway was one of favourites.
Thank you George for everything! You will be missed!
Superb
0:24 Buck Tarbrush.
Loved watching every second of this
"better resolution" - it's 360p!
I love how 15 years ago they did this at the Jazz Cafe and now it's at the British Library, and I reckon 90% are the same audience. God we've got old.
We all get old - but this music does not!
@@timmatthews773 Absolutely!
Just heard this on wave 105 about 30mins ago, must have heard it before, was 12 when it was on top of the pops 1979...great song
KPM are awesome and everyone playing is having a blast, Especially the drummer! 2 women in the band and they are sexy as fck!👌❤💥
I like Hogarth but he reminds make of Mr Bean before he starts singing
This video was a great idea please put up more of these I would love to see more behind-the-scenes of the BBC who ever thought of this you are to be congratulated I am very interested in broadcasting and I love to see behind-the-scenes yours gratefully Derek O’Brien
That was a great night, sad that these legends are leaving us..
Such a beautiful song
I have a cunning plan. The Goes Wrong Show could do this and feck it right up.
I love that they have a great behind the scenes that even shows everything! I love it! Thank you so much, BBC
I can only imagine the atmosphere in the newsroom earlier this year when the news broke about The Queen’s passing.
Yes! Just what I was thinking too!
Love those photos
4:07 gosh! What happened to her hair there?! Lol
I'm a broadcast journalist, but have always worked on radio in front of a mic. If I had not chosen my path as a newsreader on radio, I would have gone down this path behind the camera on TV, in a control room. This was brilliant!
Did you notice that the BBC has a monitoring service of other world news broadcasts? Struck how all the important positions were men and few women. Very sexist.
Joseph and today 😀 TV
Absolutely my idol and genius. The best man in the whole world. ❤😍🤩

Uffff.... Exclusive Blend👀
Trev wearing the kilt is simply adorable! Handsome man and genius. ❤
A Queen tribute band would not do two claps to this track. Watch the original video and get it correct - one clap
360p goodness
I've always loved these arrangements. This music can really only put a person in a great mood! Imagine if production music today had this level of writing and musicianship. Alan Hawkshaw was brilliant. I would have LOVED to been in the sessions when the KPM bands or The Wrecking Crew were recording. Sad this level of arrangements are gone, well except for like Snarky Puppy.
I still can't believe the intercom mic for the director is open to the presenter the entire time, and the presenter hears EVERYTHING in the control room/gallery.
I work at a broadcaster too...with us, different presenters have different "preferences", some don't mind an open intercom, others can't handle it and insist it's on just when they need to be spoken to, and otherwise shut off.
I think you'll find the directors turn of phrase could have been better. It's likely what he meant to say is George can hear everything IF HE WANTS TO. I never knew of any presenter who would want open comms in their ear. Normally the director can key the presenters ear piece (turn on their mic to talk to them) when they need too. Otherwise the presenter can't hear anything.
They had us fooled in THE USA....they used this music on nfl films highlights and the music credits always said Sam Spence, Spence was good but NOT like these brothas
I need to visit England to go to the kpm library
