Can you give me the information about pecs hungary that how students can find job there and also how much they can earn in pecs And also I wanna know that is pecs is good option as new comer in hungary I really hope if you read this comment reply me 😊
Please you help to recommend websites or sources to study information for rentals? Thank you so much in advance
Hi! The main site to search for a flat is: ingatlan.com (You can search there in English, you have to change language at the bottom of the main page), but there's also a lot of facebook groups (even in English) you can choose from. (Type in something like "Budapest Flat" and you will find more groups around this topic.) I think these options are the most valid ones, at least I would start with them. :) You have to also know that 99% of the time you have to pay a 2-month deposit what you get back when you move out. And also the people apply for the "good offers" within hours, so don't hesitate to apply for them right away, you can still say no after you checked the place out in person. :) I hope this helped! Good luck! :)
We (2) re looking for a reasonable apartment..
Thank you very much,
Great explanations, thank you so much!!
You are welcome, it makes me really happy to know that I could help at least a little to you! 😊
This is so calm and relaxing to watch! I’m from a countryside in northern Vietnam, got the same kind of hot summer :)) Looking forward to seeing more videos like this from you, I’m moving to Budapest soon 😊

Hey, future expats, just one thing: I am not sure why Petra chose to pronounce our capital's name the American way, but please don't. It is not B-you-da-pest, more like Boo-da-pesh-t. Thank you!
Hey! Honestly I never knew that this word would upset or bother anyone, I'm really sorry for it! Next time I will try and pronounce it correctly, but this is how this word comes on my tongue when I speak in English. Another example is the way you pronounce Paris: I've never heard an English video that said it like how the French people say it. So I truly don't understand why is it so bad to pronounce Budapest like this.
Does that also work for the scooters?
I don't think so, because the scooter system is ran by other companies, but I'm sure that they work very similar (I mean by an app, paying through phone, having time limits etc.). I've never tried them, so I can't really say much about them. I think Lime is one of the biggest, you can find information about it here: help.li.me/hc/en-gb Tier is also another brand, more information: www.tier.app/en/ I hope that this helped! :)
@@petrasperspective thanks a lot for the info, it really helps
Cool !! But,that snacks are Japanese ! Lol I'm Japanese ( living in the States ) ,Pepero? Lottery is a Korean company which has a long ,long history/ business in Japan. We've got Pocky by Lotte in Japan. 😅👍😜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
Yes, I was aware of that that these are not Chinese, that's why I put "tasting asian snacks" in the title. 😄 This part was actually nothing to do with the Chinese New Year, we just wanted to taste a few snacks that we found at the asian shop and we wanted to finish the video a bit funnier. 😄
I work the same way in Pennsylvania during the the summer, work like crazy from six or seven until nine or ten. Then do inside stuff or run errands, and tackle any outside work after supper.
It's interesting to read that even though we are the other half of the world, our days still look similar.
What a lovely environment with lots of animals in the surroundings and nice warm weather. Definitely a place for my taste.
Probably spoken from the comfort of your air-conditioned flat. 😅
That's very nice to read! This place is really calming and makes me truly relax, so I'm happy that you think the same and you can feel this vibe through the video. ☺️
There's no problem with it! I wish we had it at home, as well! 😄
nice video Petra
Thank you very much! :)
Hi .... I was married to a hungarian girl for 15 yrs...she was from the Danube bend area, we had a summer vacation home there..Im a physician in the USA. divorced now.... Im looking into spending time in Budapest and maybe moving there in the next few years. I fell in love with the country and the people.
Hi! I'm sad to hear that that story had no happy ending, but I'm glad to hear that you still have nice memories about our country. I hope that you will enjoy your time here!
Come-come, we are running out of doctors 😀
@@juditsomi4287 LOl thank you...Its not very easy to change countries as a Physician. I make about $380K a year here in the US. Hungary would be a lot less. I went to med school in Milan, Italy...and coming back into the US, I had to do a lot of work. I would go to Hungary to retire and find a nice hungarian girl and we could enjoy life. Best wishes to you!
@@dojocho1894 I sure hope you don't mean to find a literal girl as your companion for retirement. All due respect, but that's - at best - an unfortunate choice of words.
My wife and I have lived in the Caribbean for 10 years, I’m Canadian with dual citizenship so our next plan is moving to Hungary, we plan to buy a house and renovate it but we want to be in the country side, probably closer to Croatia, it’s hard to find videos about rural Hungary…
Hi! All I can say is that Hungary has many different faces (just like any other country), that's why it's really hard to talk about the Hungarian countryside in general. The life is definitely calmer, there are a few bigger cities, but compared to Budapest (with 1,6 million people) they are incredibly small (the second biggest city has 211.000 inhabitants). The difference is huge! Personally I live in a small village in the middle of the Great Plain of Hungary, so I'm not living that close the the Croatian border, but I will try my best in the future to cover as many topics about the countryside life as possible. I hope that you will find enough information and you will be able to make a definite decision about where to move.

Nice vlog Petra. just one suggestion, if you share a bit details of accommodation or travel itinerary so we can plan/enjoy the nature and make trip a lot more comfortable.
Thank you for the comment and for the recommendation! Next time I will incorporate these informations as well! :)
When I buy anything from IKEA, I just leave it with my husband and run. 😂 Imm not good at putting things together. Nincs türelem. Remélem hogy jól mondtam. 😁
It can be a fun thing to do together, but I can totally understand why you said that. :D Sometimes I also get frustrated, so it's better to do it alone. "Nincs türelem" would simply mean: "No patience". It sounds strange in Hungarian. If you would like to say that YOU don't have patience, you say: "Nincs türelmem." :) The other sentence is absolutely perfect! :)
What a pretty place. I love seeing the older architecture. A régi épületek és házak nagyon érdekesek nekem.
Tata was my favourite city that we visited so far this year, I really recommend you as well! :) Tata egy nagyon nyugodt város, közel a természethez, nagyon tetszett. :)

Welcome here! :) I'm happy that you joined! That's so interesting to read that you are a first generation Canadian, I know a lot of Hungarian people left the country during the revolution. That's also really exciting that you plan to visit Hungary, I really hope that you will like it here! Until that I will show you a lot of things about Hungary (not only about Budapest), so I really hope that you will find some inspiration on what to visit in this country. If you need any help or if you are interested in a specific topic, let me know and I will talk about it in a video! :) Legyen szép napod! :)
Are you originally from austria
No, I am 100% Hungarian. :)
Loved it. The nature and the beauty are quite amazing. Looking forward for more. Thank You, Petra.
Thank you for this kind comment! :) I agree, the nature was absolutely beautiful!
I believe You forgot to tell the story, from where the odd name comes from. The story says, that the miners dug into some underground watersource. So far nothing is special in this -hey, it's Budapest, the Thermal Capitol of the World! They could barely escape from the pit, as the water was raising so much, so they left everything behind. It was several other pits nearby as well, and they were filled ever since, but when the workers tried to fill this one too, something very strange happened. It was so many gas in the water, that the soil what they threw into the water was just floating on the surface -hence the name: Nothing sinks to it's bottom, 'cause it doesn't have one!
You are absolutely right, I read about the "legends" around the lake, but I decided not to include, because that would have made the video very long and that was not my intention. But they are truly interesting! :) I will pin this comment on top, so everyone will see this story about the origin. :) Thank you for it! :)
We'll be visiting Budapest later this month (July) and would definitely use Mol Bubi to get around. Thanks for the vid.
That's amazing, I hope you will like it here! :) Be careful as the weather can be pretty hot during the day, so make sure not to bike around in the middle of the day, but otherwise I think this is a great way to see a lot of things in the city. :) Take care! :)
What is the weather like in Budapest in October? Winter clothes or summer clothes?
October is one of my favourite month in Hungary, the weather is still pretty warm during the day, a bit chillier at night and in the early morning hours, but most of the time you don't need coat, a thinner layer is enough. The temperature is around 20 degress (celsius) during the day and around 10 degrees at night and in the morning. This weather is perfect for hiking and gathering around the city in my opinion. :) October can be rainy, as well, but nothing serious (mostly quiet rain). So my answer is that you won't need winter clothes, have at least two layers with you, so you can put one down during the day. :) (I'm sorry in advance if it turns out that this october will be anything, but normal. :D I only wrote down the average experience.) I hope this helped.
I'm a student from Asia, I'm thinking to shift Budapest for my higher studies
That's great! If you decide to study here, I hope you will like it! :)

Thanks Petra for sharing correct information with honesty. I came just a month back and experience the same. You can try Indian food if you want more taste or spices.
You're welcome and also, thank you for the comment! :) I really like Indian food, we go to an Indian place every once in a while! The vibe of these restaurants are also really kind and welcoming that's what I also love about them. :)
@@petrasperspective i just move here so can you please share your favorite restaurants also local food as well.
Well, that's a really hard thing to answer, because there's a lot of good places. :) Since I really care about the money I spend, I don't go to expensive reastaurants and I've never been to one that serves Hungarian food (obviously, because I prefer what my mum makes at home). :D Restaurants I've been to and I really liked: Wafu (Japanese); Heureka (Greek); Bellozzo (Italian); Kashmiri (Indian) and Indigo (also Indian). For a good coffe I definitely recommend Frei Café. It's a Hungarian coffee chain with so many special type of coffees. When you search for good places definitely check it out first on Google maps, most of the places have a lot of rating. Lángos and kürtöskalács are a must, you can buy them actually on the street. :D Typical Hungarian foods are: Goulash soup, stuffed cabbage (one of my favourite), chicken paprikash, pörkölt (stew kind of thing). Hungarians really like soups, fish soup and different type of meat soups are really popular. :) Maybe once I should try out a place in Budapest, to see if they are the same as for example at home, but right now I only can say you these. I hope it helped. :)
@@petrasperspective wow.... thanks for sharing all the info. definitaly will try all of them. Lángos and kürtöskalács are our top priority. well, my wife and i both are cook well so If you want to try some tasty food let me know. we have most of indian spices and masala at home.
I loved using Mol Bubi when I visited Budapest in 2022 for 2 months. I think Budapest is a very bike friendly city with many dedicated bike lanes, and I also felt safe riding around the city overall. I recommend you try it! Sok szerencsét!
Thank you for this comment! :) Budapest really tries to be more open for bikers, it's not easy everywhere to let the bikers go, but we can really see the developement, there are always more and more bike lanes and that's great! :)
Hi Petra, Amazing video and very insightful! Where can I find your email?
Hi! :) Thank you very much, I appreciate your comment! :) You can find my email in my bio, but it's: frompetrasperspective@gmail.com
I would walk to work too because Budapest is my favorite city. I only lived in Hungary, in Esztergom, for maybe 5-6 months but I enjoyed it very much. That work day seems long and I'm surprised! We don't work that much in the US, generally, but I haven't compared any recent labor statistics. Still, I would walk, sometimes take the bus, tram, or subway, and I would try to eat out as much as possible because there is so much good for everywhere. If I see some elderly woman selling Langos out of a window along the sidewalk then you can bet that I will stop there often. LOL!
I also fell in love with walking in Budapest, that's one of my favourite activity and the options are endless! What I also love is to walk along one of the bridges, I never get bored of it. :) The Danube is so beautiful. Lángos and (for me) Kürtöskalács is a must! :) I love it that these little buffets are not only for tourists, even the Hungarians stop by from time to time, that's how you know they are good! :) When we make a program in the city, we always but one of them, I really like them as well. :)
Very nicely made video. Keep on the good work!
Thank you very much, I will try my best! :)
I'd live there for 45 years. The people are deeply depressed. Even so the country is beautiful mostly.
First of all, this comment has nothing to do with my video, it's just spreading negativity which I don't support. Second of all, I wouldn't say this in such a general way, this statement is definitely not true within the younger generations. Such comments like this only create tension between people and negative attitude, so I would appreciate it if people would not focus on writing comment like this. Don't get me wrong, I respect your opinion, but when it really has nothing to do with the content I make, I can't comment otherwise. Thank you.

It really depends on how long you stay here. :) For a shorter (few days) stay I would definitely check out: • the Parliament and it's surrounding: Kossuth Lajos tér (Kossuth Lajos Square), the Shoes on the Danube Bank, Szabadság tér (Liberty Square), until the St. Stephen's Basilica. • the Buda Castle and the whole Castle Quarter • walking through the Lánchíd (Chain Bridge) • Hősök tere (Heroes Square) • Margit-sziget (Margaret Island) I would also use the tram lines to see more of the city, because honestly, every building in the center has its own story and the architecture is just wonderful. :) For a longer stay I would also check out: • Normafa (beautiful place to see the city from above) • the Gellért-hill gives you also an amazing view (but the top is now closed due to construction, but it's still worth a hike) • the Városliget (City Park) - it has so many beautiful buildings: Vajdahunyad castle, the House of Music etc.) and full of people (but in a good way, everyone is chilling with their dogs etc,it's so relaxing), it's truly a wonderful place to have a picnic for example • Kopaszi-gát is also one of my favourite places in Budapest • the Andrássy avenue ... and so on. :) These are my recommendations, and also so many things will appear along the way, so just look around and enjoy the atmosphere of the city. I hope that you will like it! :)
@@petrasperspective Thank you so much for your recommendations on places of interest, very kind of you. This time I will be here for 1 week and will absolutely explore as much as I can. I probably won't be disappointed.
One week is amazing, it's perfect to see the city in a comfortable pace. :) I forgot to tell you that October is a perfect time to visit Budapest, the weather is so nice during this month (most of the time). :)
So cute!!!
Yes, I love it so much as well! :) So pretty on the shelf! :)
Well one thing that is worth mentioning is the language barrier. In Budapest you can make it in English but in smaller cities it would be a whole different story. Hungarian is a notorious difficult language to learn(not impossible, but it will take a fair amount of time to become fluent)
Yes, thank you, you're absolutely right! I forgot to mention this, but maybe I will do a whole other video just dedicated to this topic. That could be really helpful. Thank you once again for mentioning! :)
Im a american and was married to a hungarian girl for 15 yrs.... I still only know about a dozen words in Hungarian..lol
I will be moving to Kecskemet as a student. I will be living in a dorm. Is living cost in kecskemet same as budapest or its cheaper?
Kecskemét is a beautiful and peaceful city, I hope you will like it! My brother studied in Kecskemét, as well and he also lived in a dorm, the living costs are cheaper definitely, the grocery prives are probably the same, since most of the shop (Spar, Lidl, Aldi etc.) set their prices nationally, but buying vegetables, fruits in local stores or markets are very probably cheaper than in Budapest. The same goes for prices in restaurants, cafés, bars etc., they are cheaper than in the capital. Even the renting prices are lower, the average rental price in Kecskemét was around 128.000 HUF (320 EUR) in march 2024. (I couldn't find a more recent data, but it's still relevant.) Compared to the rental prices in Budapest at that same period (250.000 HUF or 630 EUR), you can definitely tell a difference. :D I hope this helped, if you have any other questions, just let me know! Enjoy your stay in Hungary! :)
@petrasperspective thank you so much for help. Can you help me with deciding which mobile sim to buy if I have to use Internet more...which is good for me as a student and if I can get a job there? I will be living in the dorm too. I hope dorms are clean and good. By the way I love your videos.
You're welcome! If you would like to have a new SIM, in Hungary there are two main phone service: Vodafone and Telekom. They both have good deals, here you can inform yourself about them (with the information about the personal help): Vodafone: www.vodafone.hu/english/home Telekom: www.telekom.hu/lakossagi/english The dorms and libraries (and also the educational buildings) definitely have unlimited internet access and wifi, so if you would like to use your laptop (or your phone), you don't have to worry about the internet. I can't really tell much about how clean and good the dorms are, but in Hungary most of the dorms are pretty good, they are in good conditions, since they have to comply to the laws. For job opportunities, I think it is worth to ask the student representative or the people who deal with foreign students. I'm sure they will give you some more information about the local opportunities. Most universities build a big community around the foreign students, so you can exchange your questions and experiences with each other. I hope this helped! :)
So mam is it totally free? After a ride of 30 min if we changes our bike
No, it's not free, as I said in the video if you have a registered Hungarian adress, you can buy monthly passes for 1.000 HUF (2,5 EUR) or annual pass for 8.500 HUF (21 EUR). The passes let you bike for 30 minutes. If you don't have a Hungarian adress, the only option is the "pay as you go plan" which means that every minute you have to pay 40 HUF(which starts from the first minute). In this case you can use your bike as much as you want. The change after 30 minutes only valid for the passes, if you don't return the bike before the 30 minute, you have to pay 40 HUF for every minute from the 30th minute. If you return the bike and change for another one before the 30 minutes, you don'T have to pay the extra amount of money. I hope that now it was more understandable, but you can find more information here: molbubi.hu/en/faq/

You're welcome! I did! I added the amounts in euro everywhere, to make it easier to understand, I used the official currency code EUR. Go check it out again! 😄 Or did I misunderstand your comment? 🤔
@@petrasperspective yes right..I meant it's better to spell them.. because they were written only..thanks a lot again for this amazing video 😊
Oh, I see, now I understand! I will keep in mind for the next time, thank you! ☺️
Thank you for awesome video ! I should go IKEA on Friday !! MEAT BALL looks like yummy
Ikea meat balls are my all time favourites! :D (And also the Daim Cake.) Ikea has this promotion until June 30 (at least in Hungary), so until that the foods are always 50% off on fridays and they have other deals that are valid for only this day (different types of products, e.g. once for flowers and pots, other times for curtains and rugs etc.). The only thing required is an IKEA family card which you can get easily. If you're here, definitely check it out! :) (I'm sure that they will have other promotions like this in the future and if they will, I will inform you all in time!)
Thank you. I got a good information from your video :) I really expect my BUDAPEST life !! Also I am worried about safe problem. Are there any dangerous area or utca in budapest ?
Thank you for asking this question! :) First of all I would say that Budapest is not more dangerous than any other European capitals, so in general you should not be worried.(Hungary is in the 10 safest countries in Europe - according to the Global Peace Index.) And because there are so many foreigners in Budapest, the people get really used to them. Of course there are areas that feel less safe, but in the last decades the situation got way better thanks to some urban rehabilitation program. There are still streets for e.g. in the VIII. districts that are less safe, but the main areas are totally fine and safe even at night. A good example is the Corvin Quartier (behind the Corvin Mall), because today it's so modern and pretty, but it was a complete disaster and dangerous place like 15 years ago. Hős utca (Hős street) was also one street that is considered even today as a dangerous place, but as far as I know this situation has also been resolved. The public camera system is very well established in the city (and it's constantly being expanded) which always helps to feel more safe. If you would like to avoid feeling unsafe, walk on street that have good lights, find some people that you can walk with. I never had a dangerous or unsafe experience and I really hope that I could calm you down. If you have more questions, please, ask them, I'm happy to help and now I also consider to make a video about this topic. :) Stay safe! :)
@@petrasperspective Thank you so much for the detailed information. I think I can go with peace of mind. Please continue to make great videos. It will be very helpful to me as a foreigner living in Budapest. Thank you again ! :)
I'm glad I could help! :) If you need information about something about Budapest / living in Hungary, I will be happy to help. You can always find me here and I also added my contacts in my bio. I hope that you will enjoy your stay here. :)
