We offer a Hi-Speed service for foot passengers and cyclists (28-minute journey between Southampton and West Cowes) and a vehicle ferry service (1-hour journey between Southampton and East Cowes).

Thoroughly enjoyed seeing a few years back on a British Documentary channel about one of your (I imagine by now senior) Master's Alice Duncan, and her rise through the Red Funnel company. I believe she did another marvelous interview about Careers at Sea, and certainly a wonderful role model for many youngsters considering a working life at sea.

Voith Schneider Propeller Ferry
There’s pictures of the control mechanism, and a commentary on how it affected the cause of the accident, in the MAIB investigation of when they run over a yacht and grounded in Cowes. Quite interesting.
I loved the 'Buff Funnel' (?) paddle steamers, sailing from pier to pier along the South Coast. They took little draught and could turn on a sixpence. One could look inside the engine house too and see the reciprocating machinery. This was in the 1950s and into the early '60s.
