Last couple or so months for me. Missed out big time. I wonder how many started with the first Nocturnes shows around Los Angeles in 2008 (besides friends and family) and kept track up to now. Quite the ride.
Great blend of voices here. On another performance in 2016 (ERR solo w/ violinist accompanying), ERR introduces this as "a very old song".. a real gem either way. Someone on the other video was looking for the lyrics. Shucks, I can't find them either.

I was at this show and it was the first time I saw them live. It was excellent. Pallbearer and The Atlas Moth were there and good too. And the whole show was free!
I’d love to see them do an acoustic set (or indeed any set) in a cathedral.

@@filipkocis3351 lol, the song is day is done by nick drake. It’s obvious it was the song that was it’s biggest influence but patterns in the ivy 2 is completely it’s own thing. The melody and solos are drastic changes. The chords are different too. It’s not like benighted which is the closest thing to a rio off. The intro is just a straight up copy of never let go by camel. Patterns in the Ivy 2 is a great way to have song that’s heavily influenced by someone else.
@@tylerjacobson8012 Yes, I completely agree. I just think the guilt of it being ripped off influenced them to not put it on the main album. Of course it’s its own thing I was just being dramatic. I love the song. Also a great reminder of Nick Drakes work. Some great records he has put out ;)
@@filipkocis3351 it’s not ripped off though. It’s an influence. Rip off would be something where there’s blatant copying. Like Benighted. Listen to Never Let Go by Camel. It’s literally the same intro. The rest Mikael copies of sings a very similar melody of a song by Abba. I read somewhere that Mikael didn’t want patterns 2 released wider because he wanted it to be hard to find deep cut. And yes nick drake is awesome. Love nick drake. Mikael has a great taste in music .

I looked for 2 hours for that song because you mispelled it (thank you). 2nd of all... maybe the intro just sounds the same, but Patterns in the ivy II is completely different... I mean COMPLETELY.
