Great show as always. Command, Shift, T will re-open your most recently closed tab. I use it all the time, it's a life saver :)
Love the show, long time listener on the podcast and CZcams. I have a question unrelated to the topic of the video but I don’t have social media so I don’t know how else to ask without waiting till next Saturday. I’m looking at buying a $1700 card on eBay from a seller in Japan. I live in Canada. Does anyone here know whether there is duty on sports cards sold through eBay from overseas? It is a Topps card. Not sure if because it was manufactured in USA it is exempt? I have never bought a card near this amount through eBay so I have no reference. Appreciate any input!
Hey bop, thanks for your long time listening! Canada Customs will charge you 5% GST to bring the card into the country amd there may also be a handling fee usually around $10. Hope this helps. Thanks again!
@@SportsCardsLive thanks for your input Jeremy! Keep up the good work
Great interview
Thank you Orlando!

I got into Golf cards in 2001. I miss Beckett Golf Collector.
What or who was Beckett Golf Collector? Was it another guy named Mike?
Beckett made a golf collectibles magazine. That’s where I learned about a lot of cards.
I remember buying packs of UD Golf at 7-11 when they first came out hunting for Tiger's and Sergio's. BGC must have been short lived? I don't remember it. Thanks for stopping by John!
@@SportsCardsLive I have a large golf collection
@@MrJmangini How long was Beckett Golf in publication?

Write that loss down, Jeremy! Live to fight another day! So useful to hear about all the deals, good and bad. Thank you for sharing!
You bet Mookie! Appreciate you!
Hat tip to the commitment on getting this done during a Stanley Cup game 7. Sorry the Oilers never came through with that 2nd goal, was pulling for them myself.
Thank you sfo! I'd have preferred to watch the game, but as I said, I committed to covering the MC Showcase auction each month and outside of a family responsibility, I'll be there for them! Appreciate you watching and dropping a comment.
Where did you order your acrylic display case on your wall?
Pather Plastics. Great people and products.
I appreciate you sharing the loss, most people just post the big wins. Thanks for keeping it real.
Thank you Backland. As you said, just tryin to keep it real. I hate taking the loss, but in this hobby, you aren't going to win'em all and people need to realize that.
Let us know how you take the $711 Siakam sale and turn it into a winner.
That money will sit in my COMC account until I either spend it there or withdraw it. Either way, I'll try to remember to track it and update!
Great episode and the pre recorded version is a balance as far as content discussion of the cards. You are not watching the live comments coming in.
Thanks professor. I am enjoying producing these videos, and clearing out my watchlist immediately after!
Another really enjoyable show & tell. Tough loss on the Siakim…but I love your level-headedness. You’ve always had that trait and I really admire it. That thumbnail…..😂 That dual stick…Roy/Gretzky…is that Wayne’s Titan stick? What a sweet piece of lumber. I’m with you…the exterior pieces are just so nice. I really enjoy this series. Keep up the great work. Cheers!
I must admit I'm having fun with the thumbs for this series! As always, appreciate you taking the time to drop a comment, Brett! Have a great rest of your week my friend! PS - Looks like a Titan to me....
I love the fact that you shared with your viewers, the loss on the NBA card. None of us make good on every card, heck I'm happy to brake even on most. Nice to see the transparency. Some Card influencers love to show that they always make a killing on the hobby.
Thanks racin! I knew before I decided to send it to auction that I'd take a big loss but just wanted it "off the books" and the loss will bring down the tax bill next year too lol.
I love the older Artifacts rookie cards. The retro ones are clear cut and cool as well. Cheers!!!
Me too! Thanks for tuning in, stars!
Jeremy! urrrr the best on CZcams! Sportscards! BIG FANNN! Luv da showwww!
Thanks Relics, honored to have you along for the ride!
How about that that Bobby Witt jr on card auto does it get any better I have a feeling Jeremy will be buying more Bowman cause of the on card autos. It’s art!! 😀😀
Yeah FANO I love how the ink always looks so good on Bowman. If a player comes along who I find really compelling, humble and skilled, I'll grab my first one!
Thanks for taking the time to help the community David. Super underrated video and worth everyone's time to watch this video! I wish things were as simple as, "I spent $X this year and sold $X, so my profit or loss =$X" but sadly businesses like this don't work that way to the IRS. I just don't see how ANYONE is actually doing things correct. It seems like big shops on CZcams are: Someone brings in their collection. Shop makes an offer. Shop puts price stickers on cards. Cards sell. Done. That's horrible inventory management where they wouldn't know how long an item took to sell or if one was stolen, but I just don't see where they're tracking which individual cards actually sold to match up with their cost basis. The worst part is, in my experience, if you thought things were the "spent x, sold x" and now think that's not how things work, no one can help you. (They either take your money and run claiming they're waiting on you to send records of every transaction you've done for years, or they tell you there's nothing they can do without going back years to get your books in order). Literally Quickbooks won't even let you pay them to setup business books if you weren't aware how to it it for years.
So what is the future of sports cards i dont have time to watch if it even tells
Thanks for the algo bump!
Love these shows
Glad you do Stadeum!, thanks for stopping by!
Another great show guys! 👏👏👏
Thank you Mike! You guys in the chat make the show great too, so thank you!
The situation with the graded gretzky has happened to me before as a buyer... I have put a winning bid on an item I saw about to end. Won the card. I paid for it, only to have the seller refund me and relist the card at a higher amount. When reaching out to seller, they said they thought they listed it with a reserve which was total bs but how can you really prove it.
So ridiculous. Lots of low integrity people on eBay. Thanks for checking out the video!
As a big Nolan Ryan collector, i would have loved to have that superfractor, but not sure i could pay $2000 for it. Topps chromes platinum anniversary is one of my favorite sets each year and i own a 2021 Topps Chrome Platinum Anniversary red refractor (/5) auto of Nolan Ryan graded PSA 9, Auto 10, non graded higher. One of my favorite cards of his. Just beautiful!
It does seem like a lot of money for the card but sure was nice. Sounds like your red refractor is a beauty! Thanks for watching!
I would rather have the better image of Mantle in the PSA 4; centering would be less of a concern with vintage, IMO. Great topical question and great launch show!
Thanks LGC! We are on the same page on the Mantles.
Lots of shots fired! lol... Great video Jeremy!
Gotta keep it real!
Enjoyed the episode. A well centered Gerhig with good registration in a 3 - 4 is the sweet spot for value imo. Wait for the right one.
Thanks Rob, I'm gonna.
I really like this channel!
Thanks so much! Glad to have you along for the ride!
Shill bidding out of control the more you look into it ... sad panda!
Landmines we need to avoid and stop.
Thank you for sharing
My pleasure and thank you for watching.
I remember a major seller getting kicked off ebay for alleged shilling. Who was that again?
You may be referring to PWCC.
I hate seeing those low number bidders pop up. Fun video.
Cheers Stukes
Really dumb for a shill bidder to bid at the very end. That’s what you do when you WANT to win. If they had a brain, they’d shill early so the competing bids would have more time to mull it over. I’m glad these idiots are being forced to re-list.
Shilling right now is wild. eBay continuing to allow it, will ensure fraudulent buyers, sellers, and fake comp setters continue to do it. Pretty sad to watch them destroy trust in the hobby day after day
Landmines we need to avoid and remove.
Really like these videos Jeremy. That Gordie Howe auto was just awful
Thanks for letting me know Jeff! I'm having lots of fun with them too and there's something satisfying about deleting them from my watchlist after recording the show. And then the buildup of those ending starting on Tuesday night...Fun stuff!
enjoyed!
Glad you did! Thanks for stopping by!
Hey brother!
What's up bro?!
It’s a nuanced issue. I’m on some vintage hockey card group and when Salming died, there was a post saying no Salming sales for a month. (Here in Quebec we had the same thing Lafleur). I actually had a couple already on eBay as I have mostly vintage rookies, and as most do on « buy it now » I price them maybe 20%-25% higher than I’d expect to get. That week both the Salming rookies sold at 100%. I thought about the nuance between selling older players cards, vs selling after they pass, vs listing before they pass, knowing that no one outlives Father Time. I guess it’s whatever you’re comfortable with. But I kind of feel like it’s putting on the black hat. But at the same time, when they pass, there is increased demand and more people want them to commemorate them. There’s a line between exploiting that demand and getting a bit more than you would otherwise.
Really well said Andrew, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I agree that it comes down to whatever you are comfortable with.
Keep this in mind. If you are wanting to deduct your losses against your job earnings you have to have more deductions than the standard deduction. Which will be over 14K in 2024 for single and over 29K for married.
Thanks for the info, Taura.
Hello there! If you are operating a business and it isn’t a passive activity, and it suffers a loss, the loss will reduce your other income (W2 income as well) without regard to the standard deduction.
IMO ….if you are a casual hobbyist and do this for fun…..you may be limited to the level of expenses/losses you can claim against the hobby ‘gains’….as the ‘gains’ are treated as capital gains, not ordinary income. if your a hobby business, then you have more options to claim relevant expenses against your ‘ordinary business income’. Thankfully, hobby gains are disregarded in some non US countries and 1099 does not apply to non US citizens. The middle ground is where you designate yourself as a ‘hobby investor’….which may allow you to claim hobby losses/expenses against hobby gains/income.
You’re on the right track and you are correct if certain documents are filed/maintained (W-8BEN), a 1099 won’t be issued to a non-citizen. The issue around hobby vs business is pre-2018, the IRS allowed hobby expenses to offset to the extent of the hobby income. 2018 forward, these expenses are no longer deductible. If you can prove your activity is regular and continuous, even if not profitable, and your efforts are to become profitable, you can deduct your expenses to reduce your income. So, in the IRS’ eyes, hobby income is required to be reported, but no deductions are allowed. A terrible law, I know, and this is one of many reasons this income goes unreported. Great comment and thank you for watching!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Andrew.
🔥🔥🔥
Cheers HNC!

The Curious Case of the Unpaid Cale Maker UD Ultimate Shield Card: Detective Lee on the Case!
Apparently it was a "joke bid" placed by a friend of the seller. So basically a shill bid. So stupid.
I enjoyed this segment on auctions for patch & auto cards , Jeremy ! 🤍🤍👈😺👍🤓
Glad you enjoyed it!
