The 'non-J' model has a tilt-only stand.

That's the 'active area' (overprovisioning of pixels). Refer to the 'Best Settings' video where this is covered. The image will move around periodically and sometimes the right and bottom borders will be larger.

My unit had updated firmware (pre-release), there weren't any particular issues with the firmware.

The calibration and the settings I used are covered in the review - pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-g32qc/#Calibration. Be aware that the review sample used a Samsung VA panel. Samsung no longer produces LCDs, so you can expect differences in how newer units are calibrated as well... Not that copying somebody else's settings is ever optimal due to inter-unit variation.

Probably because you're viewing those settings under SDR and the monitor isn't receiving an HDR signal.

@@PCMonitors HDR is on in Windows settings and I can select HDR Game etc but DisplayHDR is not there. I wonder if they removed this option on my monitor

@@PCMonitors Nvm I had multiple displays and when I removed it I got an HDR signal.

It should be, supporting 100 - 240V AC at the mains. But from the manual: "The power cord and video cables included in your package may vary depending on your country. Please contact your local reseller for more information".

You should contact ASUS about that, but even without running the cycle it wouldn't cause such rapid and sudden burn-in. Sounds like you got a faulty unit.

If you like your monitor but wish it had a glossy screen, possibly.

You can't tell that sort of thing from the video. Quantum Dots (or Quantum Dot LEDs) are often picked up with a strong red tint on cameras due to their strong and broad peak of red energy, but your eyes don't perceive the image in that way.

Give them a go and see how you find them. But per the video introduction, individual units and preferences vary. There's no such thing as "best settings" for a particular game, really.

You'd have to weigh it up for yourself, I think either can work very nicely. The screen surface differences are quite significant, even if both are 'glossy'. QD-OLED provides superior colour volume for HDR, which is certainly nice - but brightness also dips a bit more than on the ASUS for brighter HDR scenes. I share some thoughts in the conclusion.

No idea, haven't had access to the monitor since the review. But I don't see why that would change anything. As noted in the video individual preferences and units vary, so even without considering firmware they're only ever going to be a suggestion and aren't optimal in all cases.

@@razor2049 crap panel that everyone except LG uses? And it does have warranty, ask customer support, then ask them to email you the transcript. I have it in writing it has 2 year burn in warranty

VRR on the monitor is provided via Adaptive-Sync, which the PS5 doesn't support. The PS5 only supports HDMI 2.1 VRR, which this monitor (and all or nearly all FHD monitors on the market) lacks.

This model (and the ViewSonic version) remain the top dogs for HDR performance outside of OLED when all characteristics are considered. And top dogs full stop when it comes to outstanding brightness capability for bright scenes. I and many people hoped they might release a new version with similar capabilities but a faster panel - that hasn't happened. So I definitely think this one (or the ViewSonic version - pcmonitors.info/viewsonic/viewsonic-xg321ug-150hz-4k-g-sync-ultimate-mini-led-ips/) is worth stongly considering.

@@PCMonitors OK great, any chance of getting the Viewsonic in for review? Also do you think swapping the IPS for a fast VA panel version (either asus or viewsonic) is worth it to get even deeper OLED like blacks and maybe brighter smaller highlights with less blooming in general? but you would lose some colour brightness and viewing angles would take a hit. I think if they combined a high enough contrast panel like 9,000:1 native panel contrast with a nice wide angle layer, so at least the colours when viewed straight on and close to the screen are more uniform like an IPS/ADS. Like they do on TVs, it could work to get even closer to those OLED blacks and small highlight brightness with less bloom. And for colours they might need to over saturate them as the screen gets brighter to match the colour brightness of an IPS. Maybe then it could be considered an OLED beater in the making? 😄

Won't be reviewing the ViewSonic - but it's very similar to the ASUS based on extensive user feedback I've received (including here - forum.pcmonitors.info/topic/thoughts-on-viewsonic-xg321ug-compared-to-acer-x32-fp/ ). There aren't any comparable VA options on the market and very few "Fast VA" panels are actually particularly fast. It's still a good technology for Mini LED models, a higher end version of the AOC Q27G3XMN would sell very well I'm sure.

@@PCMonitors I had a look at some reviews of the ViewSonic and it seems very similar to the ASUS and a bit cheaper but the contrast measurements were a little low on the toms hardware review. I'll have to check some others. About VA panels response times, isn't the Samsung G7 one of the fastest ever for an LCD even beating IPS panels? So it can be done if tuned right. 😀 And do you agree with toms hardware that Racing Mode was the most accurate mode for SDR? Is that what you used in your review? It also seemed to suggest that both P3 and Rec2020 for HDR were over saturated for colours, did you find that too? I'll have a look at the AOC, thanks. Keep up the great work!

It uses the same panel and both are tuned to some extent by Nvidia. Lower contrast measurements are due to methodology or possibly a bad sample, nothing to do with the monitor model in general. The Odyssey G7 has impresive average response times, but still have some slow outliers which IPS models don't - forum.pcmonitors.info/topic/is-the-samsung-odyssey-g7-c27g75t-the-best-27-va-option/. Extensive observations on the PG27UQ were made in the written review under SDR (calibration) and HDR. I last used the monitor 6 years ago! So, I'd recommend reading that, nothing more I can add really. :)

'Game Mode' is a set of (generally poor) presets, as covered in the video. Probably greyed out because you're using HDR. The PS5 doesn't "recognize VRR" because the monitor doesn't have HDMI 2.1 and the PS5 doesn't support Adaptive-Sync, which the monitor uses exclusively for VRR.

Well it has low input lag reliably recorded (~1.68ms), so if you've got the monitor set to 165Hz you should get a very low signal delay. Could be something else you're perceiving, such as dips in frame rate on your system or if you're coming from a monitor with a different resolution or pixel density. Which can affect your perception when interacting with the monitor.

You can't (outside of changing resolution and suchlike).

Unfortunately it's unlikely as LG are pretty useless here in the UK on the PR side. 😔
