How much do the potential consequences or outcomes of a decision impact decisions in these matters? For example, the potential consequences of saying that we can no longer have spaces just for women and children could lead to dangerous situations or lack of privacy if misused. Will that be considered, or does the focus remain on the case at hand or a discrimination lens.

Another question should be whether ideology or religious belief, or a diagnosed mental disorder as defined in the DSM-5-TR, can be imposed on others, especially if that then infringes on the other party's real or perceived rights or ability to hold their own differing beliefs.

Yan has been on the forefront of women's rights, and lesbian rights for decades. Transpeople need to understand they are not men or women in the 'wrong' body. They are beings different that need to be reclassified. There are more than two sexes, and until this is recognized, so-called transpeople will try to fit into something they are not.

It was through my art (painting/collage etc) that I was able to get closer to understanding what I was feeling and thinking. How odd, yet it was a pathway, to help me, understand how I had no words, no language and even when I finally did, I got backlash and silenced. How odd. Even by my grown children, family, friends. How devastating. How enlightening.

What I love about this discussion about the book is that ART , if allowed, can reflect real life. What I hear is that this "art" (book) lays out, trying to understand the culture one finds oneself in, consciously, and through experiences, trying to find oneself, as a womyn, when the very culture of patriarchy IS to disconnect us from our true selves (and each other). That IS what patriarchy DOES; disconnects. So shifting out of it, is confusing. It is a back and forth , repeat, process, that I can hear in how you are talking about how the author gets lost, after presenting such a great revelation. Patriarchy...what a mess..ugh. The only HOPE "is" in reaching to move out of it, a system that is thousands of years in the making of it. The programming AND the epigenetics and whatever else, we don't know yet, have been conditioned IN, in everyone. ALL so damaging. And as Dr. Carol Gilligan sought to wonder "Why Does Patriarchy Persist?"....learning that Bowlby's work had some other insights...because humans are wired to resist infection and patriarchy is an infection. I feel grateful to have access to these kinds of video's to help understand and find ways that I can take, to shift out of this. Thank you.

I think this book is very well done. I like how the female characters have these short sharp masculine names and the male characters have these long pretty names. That was a nice touch. I like how the genitalia was talked about. In Patriarchy men seem to have pride over their penises but women are extremely critical of their bodies, so what they did with Patro and his "shamebag" made sense. But I do have a little bit of criticism. The rape scene and what follows. In our patriarchal society, if a man heard that his daughter was raped he would most likely kill the man that did it. If not then there's a chance he might not have believed her.
