Nice 'translation' that mixes past tense and present tense in the very first scene ("there once was a ship...this ship continues its voyage). Mareni is crying tears of blood. "They are dark wings, achieved by layers of a dark green, deep, and almost transparent" -- what exactly is being 'achieved' here? The darkness or the winginess of the wings? "A port city at the time it starts bustling, like the sea corals spreading their tentacles and welcoming the evening." -- You know, in English sentences actually have to connect to one another. You can't just hang random descriptions that are unconnected to one another and expect it to read naturally although such prose may work in Japanese. "Drawing close to clients at street corners, prostitutes with experienced body movements" -- the syntactical flip here is so awkward. Why topicalize the action in front of the agents of the action? And you're describing prostitutes cavorting around sensually with clients yet the language you use is so unsensual. "It is a mundane port city's activity lacking in novelty, but the twilight is granting the tone of a magic lantern's picture." -- in Japanese this is such a beautiful description but you render it in a way that is the epitome of mundane. And "granting the tone" is such an awkward construction (also with a verb like 'granting' you have to specify the receiver of whatever is being granted: "granting IT the tone...") . Consider the following alternatives: bestow, immerse, convey etc... -- all work better than 'granting'. "And she is a mysterious figure from behind, further heterogeneous and isolated inside all this." -- what does this even mean? How can a person be 'heterogeneous'? Is that like being a heterosexual? Are you saying she has a split personality, that she has many heterogeneous personalities inside her? Jesus Christ. "There are people and more people crossing paths and almost touching the tops of their shoulders." -- Firstly, what sort of grammatical construction is "people and more people". I've heard of "more and more people" but not "people and more people" -- such an awkward way to render 人と人. Secondly, the syntax of this sentence makes it seem like something else is "touching the tops of their shoulders" rather than each other's shoulders. You could have just used the common expression: "rubbing shoulders" to solve all problems here. "A clatter a bit too crammed" -- do you mean "clutter" and "cramped"? Though these aren't particularly good word choices either. "This figure, this figure from behind, as if choosing beforehand the moment, aah, she turns over." -- you are not skilled enough pull off Free Indirect speech. This does not sound like natural English at all. Not gonna crit the rest because there are too many English travesties to deal with. I suggest you get way better at English before attempting any sort of translation. Especially a translation of Mareni. Or Shuumon Yuu for that matter, but too late for that I guess. And if I see anyone whining at me for hurting this poor widdle Fan TLer's feelings with harsh critique or telling me stupid shit like "then why don't you go TL this VN for free huh?!", only thing I have to say is: Jesus Christ people, have some god damn standards.
