    What a beautiful concerto! Oddly enough, almost all of Rubinstein's piano-and-orchestra pieces (from the Piano Concerto No. 1 in 1850 to the Concertstück in 1889) received only quite negative reviews from critics (rather than enthusiastic praise by audiences). (For instance, in Jeremy Paul Norris' book, the author claimed: Needless to say, Rubinstein's music, owing to its trite melodies, uninspired harmony and pseudo-dramatic utterances more suited to the opera house than the concert hall, fails abysmally to recapture the beauty of Beethoven's music.)

      sadly, it is still true today, Rubinstein remains under appreciated. I did enjoys tremendously learning and playing his concertos. So glad you enjoyed this one!
