The Nib looks dashing from behind lol
Thank you Mark. Clearly you know style when you see it🤣
A clever way to solve the problem.
Ah the adventures of motorcycle touring. I would only do that if I could stay in Air BnBs or cabins in caravan parks. Someone to come and do all the cleaning so I can jut ride away the next morning. The fuel gauge on my Can Am Spyder is very inaccurate but does not have a distance to empty to feature which I find annoying. Fill up when you can not when you need to is a god rule to follow. Enjoy the rides and I look forward to more videos.
Yes, that was a night to remember. If you don’t laugh about it, you cry and give up.
I had ridden two-wheelers for many years. My most recent bike was a Kawasaki Vulcan Voyager 1700. I loved it but it reached the stage where it was getting too much to get up off the stand and to handle at low speed in town. I decided I wanted to keep riding so I went for a Can Am Spyder. I have a 2012 RT Ltd. I considered the Ryker but I wanted a few more creature comforts and the bells and whistles that go with the Spyder. For someone who has never ridden a two-wheeler there is nothing to unlearn but for a former two-wheeler rider I had to unlearn all the skills I knew and learn some new ones. This is tricky because I also own a Suzuki Burgman 650 scooter. The extra stability of the front wheels is a big safety feature. For an elderly person (like myself at 71) or someone with a slight build the challenge of holding up a big bike is not a problem and so the Ryker or Spyder is a good option. I hope you have many hours of enjoyable riding and I look forward to more of your videos.
Yes, Tom being a 2 wheel man would agree with you. I love the Spyder’s but it’s affordability for us; AND, I don’t think I would be allowed to legally ride one because they are not fully automatic 🤔🤔
@@RelishtheRyker-Downunder That of course is a bonus about the Ryker the CVT twist and go is just so much easier.
Nice to see you have got the 900 Rally, some of these laws are crazy its the same bike just 300cc more and both can do well over 100 kph and not that much different in weight, why would they let you ride on a 100 k road at 90ks so everyone has to go around you, sounds more dangerous to me, and other states you are allowed to do 100ks on your Ps.
Thank you Bob and well said. 👍
I know you want to promote the Ryker as an alternative to motorcycles for seniors and of course it is a three-wheel machine but it is still classified as a motorcycle and therefore you are required to take a stay upright course before you can get a permit. Further only the 600 is LAMS there is a 900 version that is not LAMS. It is true that it doesn't lean and if you've never ridden a two-wheeler you have nothing to unlearn but as someone who moved onto a Spyder from a two-wheeler I had to learn a whole new set of skills. Of course you can't put everything in one video and I know you were trying to give an introduction to the machine but I feel the points I made are important for potential buyers to know. I hope you have lots of hours of fun riding the Ryker.
Thank you for commenting. I have commented on future videos regarding the LAMS and the licensing process. It is all so different when it comes to 3 wheels. I do wish the rules were the same across Australia. I have had comments from some other countries and in New Zealand and Norway, a car licence is only required. In Texas, USA, they are very strict, more so than here.
I own a Can Am Spyder and love it. I can see the appeal of the Ryker - three wheels with a twist and go operation. The Ryker is an affordable option for those who want the safety which is the reason I went from a two-wheeler to the Spyder. As you no doubt know you must take a stay upright course to get a permit to ride a Ryker as it is classed as a motorcycle. I see now that in some states there are specialised three-wheeler training courses but you must supply your own machine. I hope you have many hours of enjoyable riding on the Ryker.
Nice trike, and I am looking forward to many more trips.😂😂😂
100kph in S.A also for learners and P platers. Congratulations on the new trike. I hope you get lots of fun out of it. I hope the weather is a lot warmer if you are going to get a new mud guard for it .
Thank you David, I plan to get lots of trips and fun out of it. 😀
In Norway you can ride three wheeled bikes on a car license. There's an exception because of the three wheels.
I think that is the way it should be here as well. Thank you for commenting. We have been to Norway, it is so beautiful.
Hello, I think your videos are very good and very informative. I can also learn something about your country. It's fun to hear your stories. I come from Sinn in Hessen / Germany. Thanks for the great videos. Keep up the good work. best regards Juergen
Thank you for watching and commenting. We appreciate it. We love showing off our country and need to start planning another trip I think (bit cold at present). ❤️
Here in Texas they have a special 3 wheeler provision you can get on your drivers license. They want you to take the two day 8 hours each day class. There are 8 hours total of classroom time and 8 hours total of on the cycle time. You are not allowed to use your own bike. You have to use the big touring spiders that are provided. Then there is a written exam at the end of the two days. Then you simply wait a few days for the school to electronically notify the state that you passed both the driving and written tests. You walk into the department of motor vehicles, you give them your current license. It is simply replaced with a new license where you are endorsed for automobile and the three wheeler. You will not be able to legally drive a two wheeler. . In California when I lived there, you did not have to have a special provision for a three wheeler You could just use your regular automobile license. I took the class anyway while there and had a blast. I easily passed the class. However the big C then happened, then some financial issues happened. I then did not want to finance. So I have been saving. And will have cash to pay in about two months. Texas requires that you take the class in Texas because the rules of driving on the road are different than California. So I should probably begin looking for the class. Hopefully there is not a waiting list. I want to drive Route 66 next summer after I get back from Spain. I think I am going to get the 900 cc engine. The USA is so huge ( as is Texas…..lol…). That it would be difficult to get anywhere without spending some time on the freeway. But as much as possible I will avoid the freeways and drive what I really enjoy which is the country roads through all the beautiful small towns and smaller cities. I am not a big city girl. I also live out in the country like you.
Thank you for your interesting feedback. Wow, I thought Australia was strict; that’s very intense. It annoys us here in Aus. that there are different rules for different states. We don’t understand why it can’t be the same across the country. I guess it is understandable in the USA having 50 states but still annoying. Interesting about the touring spyders that are provided. We have to use our own as 3 wheelers are not provided. If you are going for a two wheeler licence and don’t have your own, you have to pay quite a bit to hire one of the training centre’s. Of course, I speak for NSW and the company I went through but it could be different in other states. I too have suffered the big C and the process was horrid. Grateful that I and yourself are here to tell our stories. Our next video to come is exciting for me and I hope you see it. We wanted to record today but it is miserable weather with rain coming so hopefully in the next few days. Thank you for watching. It makes us happy. 😊❤️
I am 66 and hopefully in two months or so will be getting a Ryker. I am soooo excited!!
We are excited for you. You won’t regret it. ❤️
Watching you near the end and seeing how much trouble you were having getting on the bike reminded me of why I'm getting a sidecar fitted to my bike and why a Ryker might be a good choice for those that can afford one.
Good point David. The shaft is such a saving in time and maintenance. As for remembering, I need a script on the bike to read from but I fear the wind would blow it around way too much. I promise to improve. Wait, thats a big call, let's just say I'll try harder😂. Thanks for the comment 😊
Don't worry about it. You're doing a great job.
Hi guys, I still love your channel I will try to catch up on your video. My old tablet give up on me so im using phone it's to small. Thank you for the ride
As I was watching you repairing the air filter housing all I could think was that duct tape will fix the problem 😀. You forgot to mention the best part of the Ryker, the shaft drive. It makes looking after them so much easier after you have been bush on it. I used to have the Spyder but was always worried about the belt but with the Ryker that's not a problem anymore.
Enjoyed the video. Are you planning mods? I have a Ryker 21/600. 82 yo male in Florida, USA.
Thank you for commenting. ☺️ No plans on the 600. So pleased to hear you are enjoying your Ryker at 82. Not sure I will be able to get my leg over the seat if I reach 82. We have only been to Alaska and Seattle airport in the USA but maybe one day will go further afield. 😀
Someone was saying the Ryker Rally seat was a bit thicker, better suspension and ground clearance.
@bobeden2067, I'm guessing we can call you Bob, stay tuned for upcoming videos because Wendy may have some interesting info on that side of things, cheers 😁
All your motocamping makes me jealous lol 😂 will have to explore further afield once summer returns here in NZ. Age may suck but you guys are still enjoying life on your bikes unlike so many that just sit doing nothing, pretty awesome 👍
Thank you. Hopefully many more adventures to come 😀
Its gone poopy in it's trousers sound's like a John Codogan comment. lol
Yes, I think that is where Tom might have picked up the comment. He used to watch John Codogan a long time ago. I’m not a fan though. 🙂
I'm turning 50 in 2 days and sometimes I think that's a big one, when I see you guys having a great time at 60 it instantly lifts my mood. Keep it up you guys are great.
I'm 48. I love this trike so much that I've just enrolled in a pre-learner course in Sydney.
Oh we wish you all the very best on your course and thank you for your inspiring comment. 😀
I'm turning 50 in two days and I think I'll buy one too.
@@marcins6655 Happy 50th coming up. It has been a bit of a life changer for me. I love it and always look forward to our rides. I also use it most times to go into town as we are about 18 klms out and to visit my Dad in the care home which is about 25 klms away.
It's been great catching up with you guys, good camera work as always and glad to hear use got home safe. Thank you for the ride and all the best for your Dad and Baxter.
Thank you Russell. Our camera has been returned for hopefully a repair. We are concerned they will say that we caused the problem. I don’t think we did. Not sure how long before we get it back. There is still a video in Toms editing suite, formally known as as the kitchen table, waiting to be loaded and hopefully that will be OK. Baxter is fine at present and Dad’s nursing home is full of Covid. 😫 Dad is OK for the moment. Cheers
Beautiful spot
Sorry for the late catch up but I'm still here for the ride
We are so happy you are. 😀
Great to see the Ryker being used the way it should be used. I should have watched this one first.
I just found your channel and subscribed. I was hoping to see some dirt road riding on the Ryker as I think it would make the ultimate adventure bike because it has three wheel, shaft drive and you don't have to worry about it falling over. I'd love to get one but the bank manager says no. I love the colour of it as it reminds me of my old Spyder. I use to like taking the Spyder down dirt roads but was always worried about the belt . When I saw the frog it reminded me of the rock near Tungkillo in South Australia that keeps getting painted white as it looks like a polar bear. It's good to hear you are riding in your comfort zone and just enjoying the experience.
Hi David Thank you for subscribing. As for dirt riding, the 600 is not really cut out for it because of ground clearance and I’m limited to the 600 for another 4 months. I would like to get a 900 Rally but it will be down to affordability. If I do, we hope to be in the dirt a bit more. I do go on dirt now but very slowly as I am only 1 year in with riding. We hope to keep doing vlogs once our camera is fixed. We have been to Sth Australia (12 years ago) but not on bikes and would like to ride there one day. Cheers. 😀
What a great road, beautiful area thanks for sharing 👍 😊
Our pleasure 😀
Hi Declan, Wendy is currently carrying the weight of a small person in luggage, maybe 50 kilo🤔. She says she cant notice any difference. So im guessing a small pillion should be fine. We dont go over a 100 kph either, so, hitting bigger speeds with 2 up may be difficult too. You have a fairly wide car tyre on the road up back, so stabilty seems good. Summing up, if the 600 is as far as the budget stretches, and you both are average size, I reckon its do-able. Hope this helps, ride safe👍
Thanks for the video. Can you please tell me if the 600 could carry a passenger . Thanks
Great Video, I am 71 and thinking about a Ryker. Thank you
You won’t regret it. 😀
Hi Just found your channel enjoying the ryker ride, I ride a can am as well I'm Currently on a ride at the moment, but enjoying yours as well keep up the good work cheers dirty socks.
Thank you. You enjoy your ride as well. We are heading 2000 klms back home next week. 🤓
$90 !!!!
Yes, $90 for a Tomahawk steak. It has better be so good but I will never spend that much to find out 🥩
Wendy you can't blame Tom 😂😂😂for this dirt road
No, Russell, I guess I can’t - damn it. 😜
Terimakasih berbagi videonya kawan👍 salam from indonesia🇮🇩
You are very welcome 😊
Another good ride and nice weather. I'm having a good Monday catching up on your videos, stay safe and enjoy your trip
We are very happy that we keep you entertained. Rain has set in again today so I’m pleased we went to Port Douglas early. 😀
Still a great footage and looks beautiful, good to see it's sunny and no clouds.
Professional or not I love your videos, keep them coming 😅😅😅
great vlog Kuranda has definitely changed since the 90s I remember the water fall and there was no sky chair. We went up by train and back by coach. We also went to Port Douglas I remember maybe council worker's knocking coconuts off the parm trees along the beach so they wouldn't fall on people, did a boat ride on the Daintree river man those croc's are hard to see on the mud banks.
how it comes is just fine for me.
Cleaver great work
How stable are the Ryker when trucks are passing? Love your videos
Thank you for loving our videos. For me (Wendy) I find it depends on the size of the truck, how fast the truck is going and the wind speed. I have been knocked about a few times but handled it OK. Tom says it’s more stable than being on 2 wheels when a truck passes. 😀
That's the in joy meant of your video's.
Looking forward to part 2
what sort of bike is the 2 wheeler and he said he was thinking of trading it in so what were you thinking of getting? Are you happy with the Ryker or are you moving up too
Hello Bob, Tom here. My bike is a KTM Duke 390. I'm going to hang on to it till Wendy trades up to her Ryker Rally. Then I will ride it and reconsider what I want to do. I like the Ryker 600 but I want to try a 900 first. Wendy really likes the 600 though is looking forward to a 900. Cheers, Tom.
And I'm glad to hear Baxter is still enjoying life
Thank you guys I have just watched both videos, bad weather but still good looking part of the world
I bought my Ryker 600 3 years ago when I turned 60. Best Birthday Present ever.
I could not agree more 😀
can you please tell me if the 600 could carry a passenger or would you loose to much power? Thank you
I'm like you two when I wont to go for a ride, it starts too rain and if, I'm going to work it's fine. I do like your rides around that part of Australia.
Thank you Craig. More to come soon from up here.
