Trading rn is not reasonable for starters that is. Not an elite guy. You only do that when you have an elite team or a team that is solid. This is not our team. There will be trades, but they're gonna be small trades most likely involving bench depth

Spurs won't be bringing Murray back, and Trae Young is a bit of a head case, i.e., not Spurs culture. Keldon Johnson will be traded before the season or during this season. 2 knee injuries for Topic rule him out of the Spurs plans. They can get their PG of the future in a deeper 2025 draft.

Darius Garland is NOT it. The thing I have a hard time understanding is why the Spurs won’t pick up John Wall? He’s a free agent, and can help fill seats to sell tickets, and is a good, unselfish playmaker who could help Wemby get easy buckets.

It makes way more sense for the spurs to hold on to those hawks picks. Hawks are about to blow it up and enter a rebuilding period. Wemby isn't going to let the spurs be bad enough to rebuild. I'd rather hold those hawks picks as best I can and find other trade partners. Those picks are the spurs best shot at either drafting a star to put next to Wemby or as a trade chip to find another star.

As a Cavs fan we aren’t trading garland for picks. If Mitchell moves we get picks. Otherwise it makes no sense. And we aren’t trading for 6”5 dudes especially those two. It doesn’t make us better to win now with Mitchell. Garland had his jaw stapled shut lost hella weight dealt with family issues etc. garland only gets moved for young players if it’s a good big that can backup Mobley and Allen and hopefully space the floor when used with those guys if both aren’t in. Or a small forward that can space the floor. That’s it. (If Mitchell stays) if he goes… all bets are off

If the Spurs can get one elite defender guard and one elite defender forward and ideally a forward and guard who can both hits threes at a high rate and gets assists without too many turnovers…they can win mostly on defense if Wemby can get two more top level defenders alongside him.

Obviously Garland and Young are two players who would help raise the win totals next season for SA but I prefer them to get a guard who isn't a cone on defense if possible

In terms of fit, this is how I would rank the Spurs potential PG options, disregarding what it would take to trade for them: 1. Dejounte Murray 2. Trae Young 3. Darius Garland

As a diehard spurs fan and family the conversation I had with my brother today was this: (apologies for the essay that is to come) First, The Spurs putting Jeremy at PG either accidentally or on purpose accomplished many things, 1. It helped them tank just a bit more, and secure them their current picks in this draft, they took a leap towards the end of the year when they started Jones and Wemby, and moved Jeremy back to his normal position. 2. It got Jeremy exposed to what he can do better, and used to criticism, and hate, and he is likely part of the Spurs long term plans moving forward 3. It allowed them to explore Wemby's game a lot more than just having the normal lineup and not changing it. Now, not only do they know the best thing to do is surround him with good playmakers, everyone knows that and so playmakers will want to play in San Antonio to reap the benefits of playing with Wemby. They showed they can beat any team in the league late in the season by beating the nuggets who needed the win, so they are not a franchise who is losing and is going to stay losing. This makes them more attractive to free agents like, just throwing a name out there, Malik Monk whose team has reached its peak, and its not enough. I know that this free agent class is also "weak" but they really just need 3 and D players to come off the bench and Malik Monk would be a great spark plug similar to Ginobili. Second, the Spurs seem to be eyeing certain players that fit a mold of long, and defensive. With Cody Williams mocked close to 10, I would not be surprised to see the Spurs go with Castle, and Cody Williams, two of the best defenders in the draft who would make the Spurs a defensive powerhouse capable of switching everything on high screens. A starting 5 of Castle, Vassell, Williams, Sochan, Wembanyama. Devin Vassell is quite the underrated scorer/shooter, and Castle, Williams, and Sochan can definitely develop decent 3 point shooting. Then, off the bench potential targets are Malik Monk and Royce O'neale. This is without making any trades, and they would already make a pretty big jump. I feel like the goal this next year is to make the play-in/playoffs, and then maybe next season get more aggressive on trades once they get a sense of direction. I feel making a big trade for Garland, Trae, or Dejounte would be rushing things in a way that seems to be a short cut and the Spurs know there is no short cut. That doesn't mean they shouldn't be aggressive in free agency, but I have no doubt they will play this smart. Sorry for the essay!!!

Spurs have the money to sign for the needs. In the draft I think spurs should pick talent/potential. Free Agents Fultz Paul Batum Derozan Westbrook Paul George Harden Etc. They should not rush to get to championship. Develop their picks/young talents and in 2 years they should know what they have.
