Our family movies of the Detroit St. Andrews Highland Games when they were held on Boblo Island, circa approx. 1958. Highlights include the SS Ste. Claire Boblo boat, amusement rides, pipe bands and lots of highland dancing.

A fun jig done by Scottish highland dancers, Irish dancers, and tap dancers at a fundraiser Ceilidh put on by the Gibson School of HIghland Dance at the Lansing Brewing Company in Michigan. Members of the Glen Erin Pipe Band performed, much to the crowd's delight!

Beautiful Wedding Surprise Father Daughter Dance

My daughter didn't know what the father/daughter dance was, as we told her it was a special surprise. We began it with a tune from an old Scottish song that she grew up with to fool her. The second song begins around 47 seconds. We added the audio of when she was a little girl in a few places to that song. She loved it. Enjoy : )

I absolutely hate it when a "Look at me" piper faffs around "Tuning" his pipes (drawing attention to himself) It's NOT ABOUT YOU. Play for the dancers you insecure ego tripper. 35 seconds in and this bald bum has made it all about him. That said he's a decent piper. Lose the ego mate.

Love the minimalistic footwork of the black'n white girl. Not as exaggerated kicking and jumping as seems so popular now. Yet, why does't come the piper fully tuned?

Did you get lessons or were you and all your friends on a dance team?
They are all friends and competitors from the same and different highland dance schools. Since they are all taught the same steps around the world, they can come together for occasions like this and perform.

Everytime i try i can go for about 1:20 then my legs hurt so much they stop doing what i tell them and my lungs get about 40% of the air it needs and i collapse lol

Watching the dancers confirms my view that the "quick time" movement is a strathspey reel not even the purported pipe reel. I love this.
