Radio Airplay is a Scam. This is an old video. Sometime around 2022 (maybe 2020) they changed things. All the "promotional/marketing" sites are as far as I can tell. I am very sad that CDBaby partners with Radio Airplay. CDBaby used to be 100% artist friendly and legit. Now I am considering using a different non-subscription based distributor for our music releases. Makes me very sad.

You're absolutely right man. I was a music composer. I spent literally thousands just on equipment, mastering, VSTs and other tools to finish a few songs. When I found out that even after years of working, I had no chance of getting ANY money, I completely gave up on it. It wasn't until new AI generators (Udio, Suno) came along that can produce listenable music in literally minutes that I came back, and I don't care that a lot of people b**ch about AI, because if I wasn't honest about the fact that I was benefiting from AI, no one would even notice. So I'm sending it out there to Distrokid in droves, and maybe this will be also the reason why the music industry goes to hell... So what ? I've already wasted so much time trying so hard that I don't give a single sh** anymore.

I like the idea of people releasing song downloads thru purchase only. People streaming from their own websites can be good too

I'll sign the petition, BUT this is EXACTLY why I don't stream music. I buy the music, even if it's a digital copy. I tell independent artists all the time to drop their Bandcamp link.

It's very disheartening. I found indie hiphop in 2001 and that rabbit hole changed my life. It's criminal how artists like Aesop Rock and others have consistently made great music and still get no respect from the masses. Now that 120,000 songs are uploaded a day it's become even more difficult to be found and shown love. I plan to make a deep dive and give love to all the indie artists that I've found who never got the appreciation for their talent and hardwork. Good luck. You have a new fan.
