I Push the Kent Trouvaille to the Limit

This is my fourth ride on the Kent Trouvaille. I almost lost control several times during this ride. I try to climb a mountain that is too big for the stock gearing, and I try several rocky downhill trails that are too rough for the stock suspension fork, tires, and brakes. I take a good beating but manage to keep the rubber side down, barely. I filmed this in 4k 60fps on my GoPro Hero 11. I pi...

In this video, I am riding my GT Aggressor Pro around Pyramid Peak in Phoenix Arizona and recording on my GoPro Hero 11 mounted on my chest. This is recorded and uploaded in 4k 60fps Hyperview. This is my first attempt at making and editing a video entirely with the GoPro Quik App on my phone. I learned a lot about the Quik App with this video. The edits and cuts might be a bit excessive, but i...

1st Ride Kent Trouvaille

I bought a budget bike from Walmart. The Kent Trouvaille was on sale for only $190. This is my first ride on the Kent Trouvaille. I start slow to build confidence in the bike before I have some real fun with it. I am pleasantly surprised with the performance of the Trouvaille. Clearly, I underestimated its ability. I ended up having a lot of fun with the bike. I made this video with Microsoft C...

ONEUP BASH CHAIN GUIDE Install and Test Ride
how long did this ride take? i am going to go do it tomorrow morning.
I did 1.5 hours that day. I didn't ride any route. I just explore around. What I have found is just the tip of the iceberg out there. Trails fork off everywhere. Have fun.
@@ArizonaJake yah it seems that way!
Wild cable routing lol
I noticed that dropper cable too. Whoops! I made another mistake when assembling my new bike. I have a new 160mm fork to install soon. When I do that, I'll try to clean up those cables for you.
All that trail work won't matter once the monsoon storms come. Without proper drainage the trails get washed out and happens every year. You should go up to the antennas next time
I was planning on climbing to the antennas, but I couldn't get the bike ready for this ride. I was installing a new 11-51 drive train on my GT but had the wrong quick link. When I finish it, I'll see how easy it is to climb to the antennas with the new gears.
Ikr
Use an impact. Much better. You wont use the tool right if it's not in the bolt straight. 🙄
Geez I think it's aluminum bolts so probably Break stuff
Thats me
Every time I'm working with a cassette 😂
Rim brakes are much easier and reliable. Disc brakes are a pain
Facts! They are lighter too.
That was close! Where are these trails located? We rented in Goodyear this last winter. Road mostly Estrella Park and FINS. So many rocks. This trail looks more sooted for a couple of old guys. No snake problems in Jan to March.😊
maps.app.goo.gl/wXDMDCKS4igBve8HA It's the open desert, so you never know what you will find there.
People park here maps.app.goo.gl/3QSnjLQMSt2L6ogJ6
We also rode McDowell one day, very nice. Going back to Goodyear next winter. Live in Green Bay, WI.
Had the same thing happen to me a few weeks ago in Tucson. It was close enough that I lifted up my left leg as I went by.😮
It's almost enough to make me want to ride with someone else, just in case. The snakes are everywhere!
Also my name is jake lol
I rode mine down a gnarly little rocky trail today, she held up nicely. I was flying though so I had to squeeze the brakes pretty hard tbh but I was sending it none the less.
The rear brake was fading this ride. I recently bought some hydraulic brakes for this bike. I will upgrade soon.
How have they held up ? Im curious to know. Im about to do my 700x35 tires
The inserts have made the tires harder and maybe less grippy. I only have 4 riders on the tire liners. I found thorns in the tires only after the first ride. I pulled them out with tweezers. Maybe 3 or 4 thorns. They were small thorns so I'm not sure if the thorns reached the tire liners. But, no flats after riding 39 miles on desert trails. But, to be honest, I don't trust them like I do Tubeless.
@@ArizonaJake cool thanks for the response. Ill be strictly on pavement so hopefully i notice a differwnce with flats
@joshuawest5967 I would definitely try them again on one of my road bikes. I get a lot of flats on my road bikes, and I'm sure they would help prevent some flats.
Come and n bra. That’s a full suspension. Try a hardtail.
i have a wobble not side to side but somewhere up and down, what can be the problem ? (wheel hub e-bike)
Could be a flat spot created by an impact, or the wheel is out of round. Either way, that's going to require specialty tools and skill to fix.
I would do what I'm doing on Monday. Taking all my parts off my GT Aggressor Pro and putting them on a new Poseidon Norton frame then I'm probably just going to list the GT Aggressor Pro frame on FB Marketplace for free. I had a great 4yr run with it but it's time to upgrade to something with more modern geometry, with a rear thru-axle and boost spacing. Or I might use my spare leftover budget parts and build a beater bike to use during the snowy winters in WI.
I get too attached. I don't think that I could strip it for parts, although I have thought about doing that. I actually just bought a new11 speed 11-51T deore groupset for the GT. Should be here soon.
@@ArizonaJake yeah i went nuts with mine. 120mm Rockshox recon fork, WTB wheelset, Shimano Cues U8000 groupset, SRAM GX Crankset, Shimano Deore M6100 brakes, 180mm SRAM Centerline floating rotors with copper colored titanium rotor bolts, Brooks leather saddle, basically replaced all the bolts on the bike with copper colored titanium bolts, PNW Loam grips, Truvative 760mm bars, but a really cheap ZTTO stem that really looks cool with a burnished copper color, lol. I actually replaced my $100 Race Face Atlas stem with this better looking copper colored $20 stem. All in all I have about $2000 worth of parts on it and that not counting all the other parts I've bought for it over the years and switched out, lol, probably about $3500 worth of parts. With this new frame arriving Monday I hope to not spend anymore money for a while with upgrades. I will eventually buy a new fork with thru-axle and a thru-axle front wheel but not anytime soon.
Jake, what is a good trail in AZ for an absolute beginner?
I wish I knew of more places, but North Mountain Trailhead and Apache Wash Trailhead are nice. They both have extensive flat single track to explore as well as some climbing to try.
Pemberton loop at McDowell Mountain is great for beginners. 15 miles with a very smooth climb if you go counterclockwise.
The snake said the same thing!

Terrifying man!! 😮 I drove my roadbike on a lizard yesterday. Didn't feel a bit like this.
It made me very jumpy. I was seeing and hearing rattlesnakes for the rest of the ride, imaginary snakes everywhere.
@@ArizonaJake Holy.. Omg! That's too much of a shock. I can feel it. I had same stuff happen to me when riding motorbikes. Anyways.. Happy that you're safe after all man! Take care!! I'd have stopped and checked my leg immediately.. Because these things are too fast and we might not even know if they bit us.
That has happened to me 3 times. Twice in the Mojave desert and once hiking above Courtright Reservoir. Scary but none were hits.
That songs not bout that
Nice
Love mine, got it for 200
That was a big ol' coontail.
I never heard them called that, but I know why. Good one.
Its a cowboy term for the western diamondback Its the striped tail, as you figured. Very Arizona-western New Mexico name.
I have the same GT. Modified of course. That snake was startled and ready to strike. Nice scenery. Thanks for the post.
I saw the snake slither away, but I had no idea until I saw the video that the snake had quickly recoiled into a striking position before I had passed. I can't believe how fast it moved.
@@ArizonaJake When they want to, they can move like lightning. Happy that you are OK.
WOW! That was a close call Jake. Get'n hot out der and critters out in full force. Glad you are okay!
Everything was out. I saw a jackrabbit and a coyote, but the footage was terrible.
I'm from San Tan Valley, where is this trail?
That video starts here: maps.app.goo.gl/yy2NH7MQqyJ36p9W6 Either way down is fun. It's between Apache Wash Trailhead and Desert Hills Trailhead.
How do people keep finding these walmart deals?
I live in Arizona and I’m curious what trail this is. Also I’m considering getting this bike. I know where I can get a good used one .
It is a mountain top between Desert Hills Trailhead and Apache Wash Trailhead. It is Here: maps.app.goo.gl/MLWVMmSGg7gjQaLC7 I ride down the North side.
Like for the music.
I got it for $190 and am loving it!! I converted it to tubeless also
Tubeless would be my first upgrade.
@@ArizonaJake it was mine also. all you've gotta do is tape the rims. the tires hold air and everything.
Incredible deal!!!
Cool review Jake. I'm guessing with a few simple mods like changing the seat out, grips, and maybe the peddles this thing would be perfect for street and trail on a budget. Keep doing what you do and God bless.
I was going to get this bike for 190 but it was sold out I was so mad
I wonder if they will get more?
@@ArizonaJake no, the reason it's so cheap is because they discontinued the medium size frame without the dropper hole.
Excellent 👍🏻
Why is it in Arizona we have 0 banks?
I know. I was thinking the same recently. It would be great to keep some speed around the corner, but everything is for hikers.
Go ride Desert Classic trail at South Mountain and you'll have all the fun in the world. But try not to go there on the weekends
Just got an Gt Pro brand new for 380$
goat heads u wanna get the lowest number of threads per inch tires tuffys ruins the ride you wont enjoy them
Goat heads....
I'd enjoy the ride over pushing it home. 😁. Bikes are heavy when you're miles away.
It was one of those moments where if you didn't record it, no one would believe you but you did record it hahaha

Thanks for posting! Got the same deal for my son he's just getting started in the sport. The fork is junk though and will be replaced immediately. You're right about the cable routing though shifter and rear brake on one side internal dropper post cable on the other. There's a grommet at the back/ base of the seat tube to run the cable in......in case you didn't know. 😎👍
It seems to be a nice beginner bike to fix up. I already fixed up a GT Aggressor Pro and don't want to finance doing that again with the Kent Trouvaille. It seems to be a better starter bike than my GT was.
Got it for the same price, easy enough to put together. On my test drive the fork vibrated badly when braking. Wasn't sure if the store would take it back (online said it needs to be in the original packaging) but they did, no problem. Too bad, I thought I had a sweet deal on a decent bike.
I'm hoping the vibration will lessen after the brakes are worn in.
Man, your ass is going to be skewered by a cholla cactus if you take that on those Phoenix trails. I guess I would watch that video, but I want to see you safe bro! That fork looks sketchy as…
czcams.com/video/f2wa-Nn9HVU/video.htmlsi=otosbKU9W2TVQEty
Wow, that is a great deal on the bike. The vibration when braking is a little scary to think about. But with a bike at this price, it would help to get people on the trails.

Great voice over, it is not easy to do. I agree with all of the stabilization that GoPro does, it makes the rides look different than reality. Great job on a hard tail!
Will be interesting to see ride videos with this bike.
Personally I think you ruined that Mike put too much aftermarket parts might as well keep that bike
I love mountain biking it’s my favourite sport
