    Thanks. I just went through the same process on my 83 SECA Although I did not recondition the pads. Solid pressure in system but stopping is poor. I guess I need to either replace or recondition pass?. I hope I don’t have to drain down the system again it was a bitch!

If everyone was a bike mechanic, there would be no need to pay those with special tools. Of course the ones who don't get your money thinks this is stupid....lol.

    Really enjoying your videos on the ventures. I have an old 1984 that has been neglected. I know a way around motorcycles, but this is my first venture and it’s a real basket case. Your videos have been very helpful.. what I really appreciate is your commentary as you go along not so much explaining how to do something but why you’re taking this bolt off or that cover off. Which is perfect for a fellow like me I need to know why not so much how. Great stuff.. Whole hearty thank you from NorthWest AB.

      Thank you, I am going to do another video soon on removing the carbs and replacing the choke plungers or starter jets. They shrink up or deform after 40 years and fuel leaks by causing a rich running and poor gas milage. they are expensive and hard to find parts.

    • @billybobbarker3175
      @billybobbarker3175 Před 4 dny

      @@MOAB I reviewed one of your other videos for re-re the carbs. Big thumbs up on that one. I got through all my carbs. Terrible terrible condition. The ultrasonic cleaner worked but took multiple cycles to get the jet cleared. There was one pilot jet I was unable to remove, in so tight and for so long that the head stripped off by the screw driver. Able to blow through it though. I did remove and clean all the choke assemblies. Did not notice any swelling or leak potential issues on this one. Only thing on the carbs I have not done yet is the balancing with vac gauges. That I do not know how to do nor do I have a gauge set to do it.

  • @ValPascale-f5h
    @ValPascale-f5h Před 9 dny

    I am looking to balance my carbs on a similar SECA 900. I thought that the YICS requires that you plug the channel that balances vacuum across all carbs. I read that you will get the same reading unless you use the tool to block the individual YICS ports???? How did you make out without doing that? DId it run as expected?

    • @MOAB
      @MOAB Před 8 dny

      You got me thinking now, that was a while ago, and no I am not satisfied with the way it is running. The float is sticking on carb one and I have to remove them again and I will balance them again and check my manual for that. I think you may be right. thank you B

    • @MOAB
      @MOAB Před 5 dny

      You are right, my memory fails me after 40 years. I just checked my shop factory shop manual and you do need the special tool P/No 90890-040681 to block off the YICS. I will make one or see if I can find one and add it to this video. Thank you.

    Torch tip cleaners work good on plugged up jets. Just go easy, they are tiny round files. Once or twice in and out call it done. If you go too many times it will change the shape and size of the jet hole.

    Thanks for this. 👍. I have resurrected a 1984 venture royale. Runs stronger and stronger each time I ride it. So much better that am now getting clutch slip when I really lean into the throttle. I am thinking the slave cylinder may be gunked and sticking. The clutch lines were completely dry when I started the project. Am also getting light smoke on muffler in that area. So it may be leaking brake fluid on the muffler. Not enough to leave a puddle under the bike, but enough to smoke a bit in that area when riding. Probably leaks only from cycling the clutch while riding. Plan to take it out and clean it and change seals. I hope that fixes any stiction causing the slipping and the whispy smoke from that area. I will also open the clutch cover the check and clean discs as well as replace the clutch springs during the same maintenance session. Should be a 3 beer long job, the slave cylinder and the clutch springs.

    Thanks for this video. I have been resurrecting an abandoned ‘84 VR. It sat for over a decade. This helped me figure out the carbs plan before going in. These ones here were a horrible mess of tank rust dust and green scale. An ultra sonic cleaner Got er done and cleaned up the jets. The Bike runs. After test rides, it feels like I will have to do carbs again. The tank is badly scaled inside. Am on 3rd fuel filter change in just 75 miles of driving. Any ideas about what to do about the tank would be helpful.

    • @MOAB
      @MOAB Před měsícem

      I think I would drain & remove the tank. That is no easy task. Then pour about a cup more less of drywall screws into the tank. Shake very vigorously, roll and turn, than do it again and again. Than flush tank out with gasoline or lacquer thinner or cleaners. Than thoroughly dry before using a tank sealer. I use POR 15 tank sealer and have had good luck with is but some people use other tank sealers. Good luck, it's a dirty job. Bruce

    • @billybobbarker3175
      @billybobbarker3175 Před měsícem

      @@MOAB Any ideas of how to clean the tank in place? I was looking at draining the tank, removing the level gauge bung, fill with water and perhaps a mild acid, then setup a powerball on the pressure washer or a swirler of some kind on a drill through the bung hole. Vacuum out with a shop vac after a few hours. Repeat as needed until it “looks” better. I am not committed to keeping the bike, yet. So wanting to keep the time investment to a minimum. Tank removal is least desirable option. When I did ride it though, loved it. For a fairly large heavy bike it sure is nimble and easy to handle.

    I’ll bet you they stripped the drain plug bolt. Otherwise at that mileage there’s no way it would be off or leak otherwise. The front cavity goes under the front crank case and when I had mine off to replace the water pump mechanical seal it seemed apparent to me that it keeps the clutch bathed in oil as it resides at the front of the engine.

    You must be new to keeping chickens. Two nesting boxes is more than enough for three or four hens, it is actually enough for up to 6 or 7 chickens. Most hens share the same nesting box, they like to lay their eggs most of the time in a nesting box where other hens have laid their eggs. I had four nesting boxes for 12 hens and they never used more than 3 of them.
