    Estoy una nueva suscriptor! Muchas gracias para este tipo de videos, estos son muy utiles para apprender nativo hablando español en lugar de traducir! This is exactly what always wondered, if I use literal translation of some stock phrases or slangs from English, it would make it confusing to Spanish speakers. Puedes hacer un vidéo con estos ‘pocket phrases’ por favor? Perdon mi mal español y Spanglish 😂

    I LOVE YOU!!! But what I really mean is that I am so impressed with these learning techniques that you keep coming up with. For this one, if you don't have a partner to practice with, you can always use ChatGPT as your partner! Just tell it something like, "I want to play an improvisational game with you. We will speak in Spanish and I will start with a short and silly story. You will then add something short and silly as well to keep the improv going and you will correct my mistakes in Spanish using English"' Brilliant!!

    I LOVE YOU!!! But what I really mean is that this is another home run technique video! That seemed to be very painful for poor Jessie, but I'm sure she learned a lot and will be getting more comfortable next time.

  • @michaellafrance6454

    I LOVE YOU!!! But what I really mean is that I love the way you pronounce the words "focus" and "categorize." When you say focus, to our English ears it sounds like you are saying (forgive the profanity) "fuck us". Its a bit distracting, but coming from you its kinda cute! If I can humbly make a suggestion that you try to use a little French, "faux-kus" maybe. I couldn't begin to help with "categorize", there are just too many vowels in that word and they all project different sounds than normal. In Spanish, all vowels sound the same, so I understand your difficulty. High praise to you cariño.

  • @michaellafrance6454

    I LOVE YOU!!! But what I really mean is that your views and ideas on how to learn languages is extraordinary. I think you have an educational background in linguistics, because you have added a new level of learning to my techniques. Language is happening in sounds, not words---VERY Profound and true. Every time I hear a native speaker talk, I want to hear and understand every word, then translate those words to English...but what I come up with either doesn't make sense or is totally incomprehensible. Love your techniques.

    • @LingoCoachCorner

      Wow! Thank you so much for your words! I really appreciate how much you value the time and effort I put on this!

  • @michaellafrance6454

    OMG I LOVE YOU!!! Well, yes you and those curls are very easy to look at, but what I really mean is that you hit the nail right on the head with this philosophy!! I have several college degrees and every time I speak Spanish I want to sound like I have an education. I always try to translate these complicated English sentences into Spanish--unsuccessfully. My ego keeps me from breaking down my English thoughts and trying to speak like a child in Spanish. But YOU, fair lady, have made me re-think that entire process and realize a new goal--Just get the message across or as we say in English, K.I.S.S.! (Keep it simple, stupid!). The process is like riding a motorcycle, you never want to outride your skills, meaning that you shouldn't ride faster than you can control the bike. What you said here that got my attention is that one should not try to outthink your Spanish skills, meaning that you shouldn't try to speak faster or smarter than your skills allow. As you learn to navigate better, then you can go faster...On the motorcycle AND with your Spanish!!! Thank you!

    This is such a great video and totally resonates. I am doing this nearly every time I speak Spanish and have yet to come across a video that makes sense of it like this one does. I constantly try to say things in Spanish how I would say them in English, and that just overcomplicates the thought process and leads to freezing and sounding even worse. Great examples with the student and child as well. These are so helpful because they're real life examples, and are a good reminder it's normal to struggle with this. Well done!

    Omg this is sooo helpful. I just rely on Spanglish lol but this isn’t helpful when speaking to people who speak very little to no English. I’ve been speaking some Spanish for most of my life, since I was a kid so I’m super comfortable saying the stuff that I know but the minute it takes me an extra amount of effort to think of what I want to say, that’s when I fall back on English. I feel like people are going to get frustrated with me if I take too long to come up with a thought so in order to keep the conversation at a natural, fast pace, I only say what comes to my mind immediately in Spanish and will go back & forth between Spanish and English throughout the conversation but I think this is a much better method that will help me to further develop my Spanish. I had a Spanish tutor on italki tell me the same thing. He said my Spanish was great and near native like when I’m in the zone and saying things that I’m well versed in but he said I need to push myself to not rely on English for what I’m not so well versed in and to take the extra time to stutter or look for my next words in Spanish. But you broke it down even better by saying that it’s ok to just get the main points across like baby talk or cave man talk lol.

    • @LingoCoachCorner
      @LingoCoachCorner Před 9 dny

      Thank you so much for sharing your experience! It's incredibly helpful for me to reflect on others' learning processes. I hear you about feeling "in the zone." I believe we can train our brains to get into that state with the right approach-challenging yet fun, and pushing ourselves just enough without overdoing it.

    I don’t like when you point and say the wrong words. That’s terrible. It creates confusion for learning new words. Bad bad video. Just image I teach you a language Chinese pointing and saying wrong words. This is the worst idea ever used.

    • @LingoCoachCorner
      @LingoCoachCorner Před 17 dny

      Thank you for sharing your thoughts; it's always helpful to receive feedback. The reasoning behind the game isn't to learn new words by pointing at things and saying them incorrectly. Instead, it’s a short-term memory and recall exercise. The principle of pointing at things and saying the first thing that comes to mind without any criteria addresses what psychologists call "option paralysis." Similarly, in conversations, we often experience the same issue when we don't know how or where to start speaking.

    • @michaellafrance6454
      @michaellafrance6454 Před dnem

      @@LingoCoachCorner I LOVE YOU!!! But what I really mean is that I kind of agree that the last game seemed to be a little bit confusing until you understand the concept of what you are trying to get us to do. "Option paralysis" is real! Many times, even in English, when we have too many options in our heads to choose from, we pause trying to pick the best one to speak about, so we say nothing and its awkward! Just spitting out the first thing that comes to your mind is a great way to just get the conversation started, and skip the awkward pause. Magnificent! But its time for you to come clean lady. What is your Ph.D in? Linguistics? Adult Education? Tell us please!

      @@LingoCoachCorner You're welcome, Gabriela. Teachers are also students. Just a few "catches" in this video. I think you meant "mentally," not "mentality." "Associated," not "associate." Finally, "improv" is correctly used, but devote a little time to the pronunciation. IM-PROV. Two distinct syllables. Heavy on the "v". Adelante y arriba, senorita!
