You're so far in experience that you completely forgot about how a beginner mind works, like an adult that don't understand a child's mind. Mocking people that teach like that is ridiculous. Just like every 3D model is different, every student and every case is different. There's certainly room for a strict teaching methodology. Artists can not make informed decisions about when to break the rules if they don't learn the basic rules first.

Ijeaaah... To be frank, with such a type of established characters, I would've cheated. I would've created a Lora for the Char and have an AI generate proper reference images for it. In cases where it isn't an established characters who has enough references. Yeah, perhaps that could come in handy, though usually you would have access to proper references. (Likely through yourself if you are solo or through the artist in the pipeline, for whatever project you may work on)

For everyone that does not own an RTX GPU: There's a library by google that achieves similar results called 'mediapipe'. There's also a plugin for Unity called MediaPipeUnityPlugin. Setting up is a bit of a pain, but appears to get the job done (VTube Studio has this as an alternative for face tracking).

just had a question, not sure if its a addon but how in blender do you layer your textures as it looks like at 35:20 when your texturing the eyelashes its a different layer than the other head textures? it might have to do with the texture slots?
