I have a mental obsession for classic vehicles. I do paint and body, I modify suspensions, build axles, swap axles and metal fabrication. I'm just here to share and show my work.

65 f100 build pics, It was insane to start this project before moving 2800 miles but just couldn't leave this f100 sitting in the woods I doubt anyone is actually following but I'm moving back to my shop in NC, more videos to come on the GTX (clone) and 80 Toyota as they already got moved.

circumstances caused a 5-day paint timeline. Extremely tiring and long days of prep, my buddy Evan definitely put in the time and the work shows. thanks to my son Kane for putting the video together.

This is just another way to do it. I may eventually swap everything out later with all ford parts from a 77.5 to 79 f250. For now this is how it will drive, to keep everything on a budget. to do this right, parts list 77.5 to 79 f150 dana 44 to 8 lug 77.5 to 79 f250 hubs, spindles, rotors, brake brackets.

Rubicon Trail, Exiting the Gate Keeper
You pointed out all the flaws you found on it when you were negotiating with the seller. IT'S A 55 YEAR OLD TRUCK. What did you expect?
The buyer :" I started looking for all things" ( defects ). There are plenty of new trucks at the dealers with no irregularities. You know ! let me know if you want to sell it, as is.
@user-ez7hx4vr7e It is tempting to put a price on it, that concrete was a considerable set back. I just don't know if I'm ready to sell it. I feel like the crazy cat lady with vehicles sometimes. I will eat top roman while I drop 3k in car parts!
Beautiful Truck 😊
HOW MUCH DO YOU WANT FOR THE T J
@@jjtt7408 dana.chick@yahoo.com
SEE IT'S A 69 FORD P/U 55 - 65 MPR THAT'S IT / YOU F IT UP AFTER REBUILDING THE MOTOR TWO TIMES WTF ?
Well, I can't control the push rod breaking and destroying a roller rocker things happen. I don't drive my vehicles hard by no means, I've gotten alot of grief in the past how I baby my rigs. The truck just felt good that day I was just stretching her legs to say, the motor was definitely not screaming. The water pump went out and yet I still take responsibility for the motor, all reality, if I wasn't on the interstate, I probably could have stopped in time and again if I was going a tad slower in the slow lane. If anyone has never done anything stupid in the world of automotive by all means through the first stone!
beautiful
This truck is pretty nice. I come from NY and these just rotted away.
@@brianmatthews9697 you gotta travel to get one.
@@danachick6898 Well that's a nice one. I remember those hoods rotting like that. If they only painted them right! I had a '79 Chevy and the leading edge rotted. The steel was pretty lousy then too. Fluid film helps a lot on these. I drill the rockers and spray them, works good. Over the rear fenders too. I'll be watching to see what you do. Like the color and the white roof.
@brianmatthews9697 thanks, it might be a bit before I start tearing into it, but definitely keeping the boxwood green with the white roof.
I love this truck I wish I could find one
@@RayTuttle-of5qd thank you, I love it too.
W\what Brand wheels are those you have on this truck? Looks Good!!
@nellaob4229 they are just some old 16.5 x 9.75 steelies I painted up. I found them on marketplace it was a tad bit of hunting to find a set.
@@danachick6898 I was thinking about buying a used set of Hurricane wheels that are 16.5x9.75 - then I went to look for tires and there is only one maker that even makes 16.5 tires now, so the tire choices on 16.5 wheels is almost zero now,..... bummer!
Nice Collection Dana! think hard about rebuilding the FE. mine was 8k + all done for my 66 F100. wish I had done a coyote swap honestly. Cheers!
The ford's are expensive to rebuild, the problem is that motor has roller rockers and other goodies that's hard to walk away from, so I'm honestly just looking for another block with pistons and use all those parts.
N.I.C.E
Too cool for school my friend. Makes me want mine back! The color choices are great. Hope your move went well and looking forward to more original builds
Thank you, the move is definitely going great, alot of work setting up the shop still boxes everywhere. Currently stuck in carpentry mode. I would love to get some more videos up.
Lookin good! Love the paint
Wish it had a more natural aged look
Me too, I was really wanting a original ratty mopar to build, this was my first try as making some ratty patina. I've seen a few others that actually rust the metal, obviously I wasn't willing to do anything like that, if I decid later to repaint and make it look nice that's still an option.
@@danachick6898 I agree, I'm sure it's hard as hell to try replicate mother natures patina. Still cool you tried though, most would chicken out.
This is one of my new favorite genre of cars
Me too!
So could I just swap the spindles and brake parts from a 76 f250 to a 78 150 call it a day. I just got axles from a 76 250 and I don't like how corroded the steering knuckle is on the front axle i got out of the junkyard. But if I can just swap a few parts and buy new rotors and calipers. Then I won't need to swap the whole axle out.
Yes I believe that will work because the 76 had front disc brakes, you may have to use the outer knuckles. Regardless you have a lot more parts to do the swap then I did. Also you can sell your f150 brake brackets and put money back into your build those brackets worth good money, look them up haha. Don't worry too much about the corrosion on the cast parts they will clean up nice. Give them some good primer and paint. Hopefully this helps and good luck on the build. You can email me at dana.chick@yahoo.com and I'll give you my number if you have any questions.

Dana i really miss you. Enjoy your time away. We will hang out again in person if i manage to stay double A
Thank you
@@danachick6898 keep the videos coming.
As far as mopars go the 68 gtx to me is the best, well other than the superbird or daytona.
Fantastic look Love it the bed is awesome color is perfect great job 👍🏽
Thank you, I really appreciate it.
Good job, I had a 66 Mercury truck, same difference….well done chap!
Now that cool specially the Mercury letters on the front above the grill!
Good lord ! That’s some talent 👍🏻
Thank you, I really appreciate it.
Where did you get the wheels?
They were old re centers, I bought off a guy on marketplace, just paint and clear,
Very nice
Thank you
Nice lookin truck dude! I like it. Had a Caribbean Tourquoise short bed 2wd in the late 90’s. Walked by the cab yesterday shaking my head about why I tore it apart to paint it 🤦🏼♂️
Paint back to the original.
I like it when they look like they've lived some, battle scars are cool 😎.
Nice build love it, where did you source the wheels, awesome job!! Thank you
I ment to reply back a while ago, I found the rims on marketplace a set of 4 for 60$ they were close to matching 2 one style and 2 of another. Then I saw 3 more on marketplace that matched the other 2 for 20 each only had to drive about 3 1/2 hrs. So I got the matching set sanded them real good and gave them a white base coat and clear coat. They are 16.5 x9.75. I love the old steel rims.
What is that incredible color?
Toyota olive 637
Looks more like cow pie green😂 other than that color, it’s Soo nice!
@@darkdesertgoose2112You’re right, Beige would be so much better 🙄
@mevford My original plan was olive 653 which is more brown then green.
Who said anything about beige? Sorry to get your panties in a bunch!
I bet it rides like a dream... I am building a 65 F250 4x4. on original leaf springs it's gonna ride like a chuck wagon! Cheers! subscribed.
The coils and longer control arms help. They can make some fairly soft leafs nowadays, you might be surprised.
Nice work
whats the tires godyear wrangler what ? are they re caps
36x12.5r16.5 Goodyear wrangler, old HMMWV tires that seem to be in remarkable condition considering they would have to be around 15 years old!!
what a beauty. i had a 68 roadrunner with firestone grand national tires in the back. they were 12 inches wide so i had to use shackles. was not crazy about the idea but that was what i could afford. later got delco airshocks and ditched the shackles. i will bet all the negative folks here never had an original gtx or roadrunner. keep the faith.
Thank you, I did buy springs for the rear the shackles are at the lowest setting probably about 1/4 inch above stock. People may not understand but I like the shackles, it gives an authentic look of a muscle car from that Era, these cars were not built with a bottomless budget. People have their preference, I see 18s on classic mopars and I manage keep my comments to myself. Thanks again and I love the tires I went with just because nobody is running them haha
since the seventies when i had my roadrunner parts prices have gone crazy. i am always amazed at what stuff costs now as opposed to when i bought them.@@danachick6898
Nice!
Sweet.
Yes it is!
Hell yeah beautiful truck 👌
‘68 Plymouth b-bodies my favourite had a ‘68 Sport Satellite but Canadian winters took its toll on it
For a dyi that looks impressive I like that end result
Thank you, definitely wasn't sure if we would make the time line without having flaws in the body but the car was pretty straight rust free.
I could be wrong but I thought the GTX all had autos on floor. Not sure why column once had a shift.
Not a mopar expert my friend, the car was originally a 318 auto satellite cloned to a GTX, I still haven't changed the column. The car is currently a 440, 4speed a833.
Thanks for the explanation! Sweet sounding 69 no less
Looks amazing!
He's just saying that because it's his car.
Such a bombastically muscular beast of a classic 'ole muscle car!
Beautiful truck. Love everything you are doing to it.
Thank you. I really appreciate it, it's taken some work to get this far.
Very nice. I am jealous. I would love to have a Comanche.
They are rare, fortunately I believe they are still more affordable then 80s toyota pickups.
Amazing truck The flat bed is cool
Mantap bosky sukses selalu kawan😀🙏
Terima kasih
Coming together really nicely, love the height I think you nailed it just right!
Thanks, I was definitely measuring everything out prior to the lift. Even then, sometimes you just don't know how much lift you're going to get from certain springs.
Is it just the angle of the camera or does it have an ever so slight Slant to the back? Like I say could be the camera and if it is sloped lower in the back it is a super small amount? I know your on a tight budget but can't believe how great it looks.
@goleafsgo8496 The back end is a little higher then the front about an inch and a half, if it wasn't I would have done 1" blocks in the rear. No squated truck here.
@@danachick6898 the "Squatted Pickup Truck" WTF is wrong with the younger generation! 😳
@@goleafsgo8496 I agree, I prefer everything ass up!
Very nice truck
Nice
Beautiful finish, wonderful to see step by step. But the song? It's fun, but that version released in '64? "American Woman" "Hitchin' a Ride" "Spirit in the Sky" "Lookin' Out my Back Door" were all on the charts in '70. Maybe a song from '70 more apropos?
Thanks, I agree it would be cool with the right period correct music, however I'm not really concerned with the perfect selection of music or video editing quality, I'm making video's with my phone. Just simply sharing my work here.
@@danachick6898 Well, it's a beauty!
