Le Puy En Velay to Conques | Via Podiensis | GR65: Walking The Camino in France
Walking on the GR 65 from Le Puy-En-Velay to Conques, September 2022:
After walking several months on the Camino de Santiago in the spring and summer of 2022, I returned to France last September to visit some friends. I was prepared for some days of walking, because... 'You never know right?'.
Le Puy-En-Velay was nearby, therefore I gave it a (re)visit. Five Monts earlier I left Le Puy to start the biggest walk I've ever made so far.
The legs felt good, the weather was nice, so I decided to spend some days on the Camino again. This time to a picturesque little town in the Aveyron region in Central France: Conques, 200km down the road.
Subscribe and/or follow me on instagram if you want to join me on my next adventure: Walking from the most northern part of The Netherlands to Santiago de Compostella in Spain.

    Makes me think of when I did the camino and I just want to get back to it and keep on going, and going, and going, and once I get there, to Santiago, to just turn around and go the other way. Such a great way to live and spend your time: walking and meeting nice people.

      Nice! France has a lot of beautiful sights to offer, every other day you'll enter a total new environment. Enjoy! I am starting a new journey this April. Leaving from the most northern part of The Netherlands, all the way down to Santiago. In France I will follow the Vezelay route, in Spain the Del Norte and Primitivo. Can't wait!

    This is truly inspiring for every soul here. I really enjoyed watching this video for many reasons, but its calm and peaceful environment, I have to say it's just amazing. Being part of nature is something I was doing all the time until I lost it, moved to a big city with the hope of making it big and the mindset that it's going to be easy. Lost any kind of adventurous spirit and lack of discipline. Your video helped me bring all these memories and feelings. As I am slowly starting to understand where I need to be and the changes to make, your video keeps me on track. Thank you and wish you all the best this year :)

    Did you have to book your accommodations ahead of time or could you just show up at a gite or place and find a place to stay? When I did the camino francais in Spain we just showed up at an albergue, but I heard that it's different in France.

    • @janmol
      @janmol Před rokem

      It is not necessary, although most people do book ahead. Sadly, this creates a culture where people get a bit stressed and start booking 2-3 (or even more) days in advance. Unlike in Spain there are no big accommodations, most of them can hold +- 10 people. If you want to be sure that you don't miss out on a place like 'Le Sauvage' or 'L'Alchimiste' in Naverrenx, I'll advice to book ahead. In this camino I booked one day in advance till Cahors, after Cahors I didn't book anything, always managed to find a great spot! Last September I went back to do the Le Puy-Conques part. Managed to do so without booking a day in advance, and again: it worked out fine!

    • @123benny4
      @123benny4 Před rokem

      @@janmol Okay, thank you so much. I like the fact that you should just go with the flow and trust the camino and not book ahead. I will take your advice on those two places you mentioned. Buen camino.

    • @janmol
      @janmol Před rokem

      @@123benny4 I've never found such a thing. If there is a list it most be a long one because there are a lot of gîtes you can find along the way! I really recommend buying the Miami Miami DoDo guidebook, all the information you need regarding the route, accommodations, waterpoints, etc. is in there. It is in French but very easy to understand, also for non French speakers/readers. In the Le Puy cathedral is a shop where you can find it ;)
