I have always been fascinated with garbage trucks, as well as just waste collection in general, and this channel focuses on documenting just that. Most of my videos are from the East Bay Area, although I try my best to take videos whenever I find myself traveling. Rear Loader on Christmas Trees- WM of Alameda County
Probably not one of the most "quality" videos I've posted, but here's one of Waste Management of Alameda County's 2015 Autocar ACX McNeilus Rear Loaders picking up some Christmas trees around Albany. Not a whole lot to say other than I like the fact that there's handles to run the packer on both sides of the hopper, and not just one. Big thanks to the chill driver for letting us record a little, and the super cool supervisor who helped us track down the truck. Enjoy!

Another fantastic European installment! Very informative description on your end greatly helped to understand the truck, neat technology to watch in action. Europe's got the US beat far and away on RL technology in my opinion. Germany's one-stream-a-week collection method fascinates me. Always a treat to watch one of these videos, nice work!

I completely agree with you, I think European rear loaders are much more efficient and designed a lot better than the bodies we see in America. The insane amount of waste diversion is also really neat to see here. I’m glad you enjoyed!

Nice video Barnabas!! Thanks for coming out here! Yes the ZR's here are SUPER slow, especially the 2013 ones. WMAC doesn't care if they are fast or not so that's why. 104280 was probably the most interesting since the arm is black and the driver slams cans sometimes One of the 2024 ZR's is a bit faster than these right now actually.
Thanks! Yeah the slamming on that one was cool, unfortunately he finished up right after I grabbed those 2 clips. I actually ran into one of the newer ZRs in Hayward, and it was a little faster, but still not the most interesting truck in my opinion. Also not really a fan of the CNG tailgate either.

These workers are only so precise because of the video! The machine lifts the containers much faster than required! The same workers collect the garbage where I live and where they work, there are many trash cans damaged by their sloppy work and the fast machine!
Damaged bins are due to the cheap plastic that they’re made of, and normal wear from the lifts. The workers can’t be blamed for the cheap bins, nor can they be blamed for the speed of the truck. They’re just doing their job.
@@contracostawaste It is not true! I worked with them for 8 years! The machine is sped up so that they can finish their work quickly. The side tab on the top of the metal container is torn off, which happened because of the speed of the machine.

i suspect this actually came from the mission trail los altos operation before making it to AVI, before finally making it to PGS lol, their operations always shifts around equipment as needed and you'll find random trucks all over the place

a good number of wmac drivers haul their routes some of the bulk collection guys i've seen can get a pile done in 3 minutes

Dan really rocked the hell out of the Cherryland route, too bad their getting scrapped. 2 are already being scrapped right now and 3 more will be scrapped soon too, their planning to replace all of the WXLL MSLs by 2025. Too bad I got over here too late in November, only caught a ZR half a block from this location

oh heck yeah ive been waiting forever for this video!!! Very glad to see someone else's footage of this truck. They've actually begun scrapping the WXLL's already; 2 are being scrapped, 2 more will be soon. Not sure if this truck is still in use but i think it is. There's also one other WXLL truck and driver that does hayward. Thank you for coming out here to film this!

Very cool! I'm a fan of how European countries often separate recycling into the split stream categories of paper/cardboard and containers. Seems to make for much cleaner loads. Bright orange with the huge Mercedes emblem stand out in the snowy gray day. Thanks for documenting the scene in Hungary!
Thanks Spencer! Yeah having people separate their recycling into at least 2 different bins makes a major difference in how clean the overall load is, with a lot less contamination over all. Glad you enjoyed!
