There's an interesting twist on the carpet used in KLM World Business Class. A sustainable concept was developed for the carpet in close collaboration with Desso, a Dutch cradle-to-cradle carpet producer. Since 2010, KLM stewards and stewardesses have worn new uniforms designed by Mart Visser. The old uniforms were used to spin new yarn, incorporated into the blue details of the carpet. The old carpets still in the aircraft will be returned to the manufacturer for reuse. Furthermore, the new carpets are made with sheep's wool that was treated as waste until recently, because the sheep in question were bred primarily for the meat industry.
Even when a carpet has to be repaired, sustainability is guaranteed. The pattern -- a scene of the Milky Way with blue uniform dots in the role of stars -- will always match up, and the dirt mask will camouflage any stains.
This is the first cradle-to-cradle carpet in the aviation industry and a perfect match for the vision of KLM, which has now been recognized as the most sustainable airline for eight consecutive years.

Most Americans have and likely never will fly on widebody aircraft like this. With the exception of a few long transcontinental routes (e.g., JFK-LAX) or the occasional repositioning flight (entering/leaving maintenance), the vast majority of domestic flights are on the narrow-body planes. Over 80% of Delta's fleet are narrow-body planes. Combine this with the fleets of Delta's regional partners, the figure climbs to over 90%. Delta retired these 747 planes, inherited from the Northwest Airlines merger, in 2017. They flew with Delta for only about nine years. There were only around a dozen of these planes in a total fleet of over 700 aircraft. These were only used on routes to East Asia (e.g., Tokyo, Seoul, Shanghai, Hong Kong) or South-East Asia (e.g., Manilla, Bangkok). They were also used on busier routes to connecting hubs in Western Europe (e.g., Amsterdam, Paris). It's a very odd feeling getting on a jumbo jet like the 747. Especially in America. It's like getting on a ship. It's a completely different experience than a domestic flight. The US has so many geographically dispersed medium-sized cities / metro areas. To have a variety of routes and schedules and to be economically sustainable, the options are limited to a plane that will carry less than 200 people for less than three hours. Say hello to the thousands of narrow-body aircraft in the US (e.g., Boeing 737, Airbus A320).

This is a launch 787 video for Jetstar, we went through several edits that weren’t coming together for us or the client. We decided to take a risk using their branded music and ended up with a completely different type of edit we all loved. It worked! (Be careful, this music will get stuck in your head)
The seats are quite uncomfortable as the width of the bed is too small. And then if you are seated on the window seat, it gets hot once you are in the full bed mode as the aircon vent wont reach you due to the position of the seat. I came up a few times in my sleep as I was sweating. Compared to other airlines, that you actually need the blanket because it gets too cold. The pillow is quite worn down and there were no indication that the pillow cases was replaced in between flights. Cathay food also not at par. They are mostly tasteless and bland.
We will be flying Air Canada's 787-9 from Toronto to Seoul in 10months to Phil. Looking forward to this.
