Wally's story really brings tears to my eyes. I can't imagine what he was feeling, locked up alone in that cage alone. Ugh. Thank you all for saving him. I hope the person who did that to him at the beginning of his life never gets a dog ever. Do you know how old Wally might be?

I didn't know about Wally till I watched "Girl with a Dog" video washing and grooming Wally. I know she tried her hardest to keep Wally's coat but new beginnings are a great restart for him and his fur coat . Seems his fur coat needs a daily brushing (maybe even twice a day) to keep any and all matting away. He's such a beautiful dog, the training will come along over time(may take a few years but one day he will be alright with being around other large male dogs too)

I love Wally. I have a Chinese rescue dog who is from the North parts of that country. He was probably malnourished as a puppy and his teeth are terrible. I have to shave him in the summer because he runs hot all the time. Even in winter. Thank you rescuing Wally. I’ve always wanted to rescue a Tibetan Mastiff.

He was rescued from a cage, but do you guys know why he was there? Were they abandoned him in the freezing winter, or did he just have bad owners at that time?

He is such a beautiful dog. I just watched his hair cut with Venessa and she had a link here to your videos.

Our Tibetan's name is Roxanne. She is now 4 years old, 64 kg, we have had her since she was 7 weeks old. I wash her with eucalyptus doggy wash every 2 weeks during summer and e dry 4 weeks during winter. In the middle of spring, she needs her coat combed out, and we will comb out 8 pillow cases full of undercoat over six weeks. During the hottest days of summer, she will sleep under the air-conditioning. Wally's coat looks spectacular to me. I would never recommend shaving, it's really irritates a Tibetan because their skin is really itchy. As to reactive, time, training, firm hand, and a bit of wrestling. We have a 44 kg husky that was a rescue. Bigger was hyperactive and hyperreactive to little dogs. After sitting on him a time or three ( wrestling), he will now lie down and let a friendly little dog approach him. Still try's to nip, but I put my hand on his mouth or in his mouth, and he gets the message and stops. He will then give the little dog a lick. I hope that helps. Wally is a beautiful and elegant Tibetan. you've done really well. Tibetan's are brilliant with children, aren't they! Much love, John

so like did anyone ask around to see if anyone nearby owned the dog? was it possible that maybe a local owned him and was maybe employed as a Great Wall tour guide or something like that, and during their shift put the dog in the cage so they could interact with people instead of being alone at home? or did you just assume that this dog was locked up by the dirty foreigners and that it was your responsibility as the Morally Superior Westerner to ̶k̶i̶d̶n̶a̶p̶ rescue him?

Why did his coat change color?

Wowzers. You guys are amazing. Thank you, humans, for loving and caring for what other humans have made into such a problem. That’s our job here, as fellow humans, I think, is to serve humanity by compensating for the baddies.

Wally is thriving because he has a FAMILY. He has someone to love and someone to love him back. You were meant to find Wally and save him! Sometimes the universe puts us exactly where we are meant to be. What a wonderful story!
