For me Shoe Maker is the driver that would push another driver into a wall at 200mph and not think twice about it. He would kill rather than lose his top spot. That level of win/kill is a bit messed up. It is psychopathy. The very best drivers would fight fairly and give their opponents room to drive....there's plenty of footage of drivers side by side each giving the other respect and space...for me that is the essence of sport. Pushing someone into a wall at 200 mph is cowardice.

I was there in KL at this race. I remember it well and the chaos! MSC made a strategic choice on tyres, taking Intermediates under the Safety Car while everyone else took on Wets. His logic: when it is safe to race, I will not need Wets. He was right!

Nearly crashed, ended up almost a lap down in the wet because of the pit lane woes, passed everyone back in 15 laps on inters while everyone else chose wets, and finished almost 30 sec ahead of everyone, with Barrichello also coming back from 2nd last to 2nd. Just unbelievable.

That first lap from Verstappen must be one of the greatest first laps of all time. 18th to 6th in a bloody arrows in the dry. People talk about Senna in Donington but he was in a McLaren which was a good car and it was wet which always means there are set up differences. Jos Verstappen > Senna

The drivers, the 3l V10 engines and the look of the cars they had from 1998 till 2005 was just fabulous. I have to admit today's races are very entertaining but I miss the F1 style of hat era.

My interest in F1 goes back to the days of James "The Shunt" Hunt driving for Hesketh and ended with Michael. Between those two, I admired Nigel Mansell and Ayrton, as Hunt would've described them in the days of him working for the BBC, they weren't just "drivers" they were racers. The modern era of drivers who've had charisma bypass operations, driving flip-flops on wheels is of no interest to me. Michael Schumacher was the greatest motor sports driver of all time, he took Benetton and Ferrari from passable contenders to world beaters, he had an amazing driving brain, if there was an edge to be found, he'd find it and his car control on worn tyres/poor track conditions was incredible. He was one of the very few modern era drivers who could've been transported back to the early 60s, no wings, skinny tyres with lots of sliding and be at least, competitive.
