Hi I Am a family caregiver for my wife's grandmother who's has gone from one extreme to the other her care team was calling for her to be transported by ambulance, across a crowded city at rush hour from a rehab center where she was in bed to heal an inoperable fracture in her Pelvis near the hip. The Rehab offered to send her to a center one block away or perform the treatment in house. The issue was very urgent as NaNa had not had any dialysis in over Two weeks at that time, The blood labs or any testing done in hospital or at the rehab were of a type that the doctors decided to do the treatments. When our family told the center she was treated by for 2 years hung up on us. Then called us after 15 minutes later and stated the doctor (the director speaking) decided function was back no more dialysis would be needed but Nana would need to come and give a lab, again all the way across town. The rehab center called them and asked if they could simply take the blood for the lab and keep their patient from a long and painful trip that could easily cause her a set back. The director hung up on the admin from the center and Nana is going on 6 weeks without dialysis and has not looked so healthy since the day she day her Nephrologist. It is a Shame that his treatment center does not offer social worker services or home dialysis which my wife and I begged to be trained to perform as then We may have known years earlier that she did not need Dialysis. What you do sounds wonderful.

I'd like to hear from dialysis patients who are plagued with dry scalp and dry skin. I am trying to cut down on any phosphorous that I can. I am using head and shoulders shampoo and using coconut oil as a mask for my scalp. I am using gold bond ultimate healing lotion on my hands and arms which have dry skin flaking off, as does my back. What else can I do? I am grossed out by my scalp and body and need help. Thanks!

Actually when returning the blood after finishing treatment there is a clot that is formed at the very end of saline line where it meets the blood and that clot is pushed to the arterial because it is procedure to do so causing the clot to keep accumulating on the graft every treatment as the clots like grafts. This issue is not appropriately addressed as I always saw the techs doing this and my wife had clothing on the graft and needed to get declotted 2 times in 2 months. After that I started to tell the techs to push the blood to the Venus so that the clot gets stuck in the filters and not my wife's graft. Since then her graft has not had blood clots and it has been 3 years and a half.
