That is Sooo wrong
I wish you were the person to give my son his first haircut 😭
Hey man, unusual question, but my feet are messed up and where did you get your shoes? They look great. Can you link me up on that? Ty
The Pratt probably has the best combination of simplicity, symmetry, and overall look of any knot. It’s very easy to do and it almost always looks great.
Nice! Looks good. Could additional tips : Prime your chimney - light a piece of paper or a candle and hold it up into your chimney, especially if your fireplace is cold. This will warm the cold air pocket trapped in your chimney and will prevent smoke and back feed into your home. It's a huge step but only takes a minute. Next, if you're having a tough time getting the fire to start, rather than use full round logs maybe try starting with the splits. The splits trend to dry much more quickly and might even have some loose fur out rough kindling on it that may help it catch. After your fire is moving and you have some good coals going, then you can start adding the full round logs. Finally, if you're having an extra hard time lighting your fire, maybe have some damp wood, and it doesn't want to catch, or you're getting a lot of smoke, try this. Look up "upside-down fire" and if course prime your chimney. This may use a bit more wood to start, but it requires much less maintenance to have going for a while. This method is also great if you have company and you want to dry a fire and be able to forget it for a while. Pro tips - after your first few starter logs start burning and start becoming a bit charcoal, knock them down and stir a bit. Get them nice and hot and add a couple logs. If you get a good hotbed going early you can run the fire almost down to nothing and easily throw a log on to immediately turn the temp up. Establish your coals. Also, I used to always sweep out and clean up my firebox almost after every burn. Don't do that. Just lift up your log holder and shovel everything to the middle (don't use the broom, they still may be very hot if you had a recent fire.) Stir it up so the grey and white ash fall to the bottom and the black charcoal wood becomes exposed With those nice black coals at the bottom, you'll quickly achieve a hot fire and be able to establish your hotbed early.
I tend to bundle up paper, which takes longer. Tearing strips of paper is the way to go. Great video. I actually refer back to this specific video if i have not lit a fireplace fire in a while. I still always tell myself, "Oh yeah! Tearing strips gets the fire going quicker!" Cheers from Texas!
Thanks friend. Embarrassingly, I have been using the half Windsor my entire life. This is much neater and precise➕️1️⃣.
Thanks!

I just bought a house with a fireplace, and I just assumed we would buy the Duraflame logs like my mom bought when we were kids, but GOOD LORD have they gotten expensive!! Guess we’re gonna have to learn to use REAL logs !! Thanks for the video.
Just followed his instruction and it worked like a charm. Thanks buddy!
Although an amazing point with ultron he was beat by getting hacked . Spot shouldn’t be last he caused more damage to the multiverse than scarlet witch . Kang has yet to prove he’s a threat, he not.
nice!
I know this tutorial is a bit old or outdated as some would call it, but I have to say, it's the one I followd today (in 2023) to cut my LO's hair. Best one I've seen. Thanks so much!
use top down method. works better with less smoke! This video does it the other way around. You should use bigger pieces on bottom and build your way up. And the wood should be split not round so that the wood can actually catch fire easy. The outside of the wood prevents this from happening.
Hi. I put paper under my crate and there was smoke in my lounge. What did i do wrong?
Cómo se llama el corte
Такой лапочка белокурый. Терпеливо выдержал 🤗
Nice, thank you!
Just want to thank you again...this method is superb and is actually saving us money: we use your method but with fewer pieces of wood and we no burn with virtually zero waste. Our fire lasts for hours and it's much cleaner than our bottom up method. Thanks.....!!
Powers out here in my spot of California through all these storms and flooding. My 4 year old and I thank you.
This dude descended from the caveman who discovered fire. 😳
Thanks so much for the great tutorial! Excellent instruction!! Never mind the stupid comments; if they weren't busy marrying their cousins they too might have a nice fire. Thank you so much for a great video!
Some videos show three or more logs on bottom and multiple logs on top. I don't know about other folks, but when I do that the flames are shooting up the flue and looking like they could start a fire either in or outside of the house.
Here in texas, about to have a freeze. Whats the metal holder supporting the burning wood at the bottom called, please?
Thank you for this video. We have a severe cold front coming and I don’t want to use my heater non stop, so this may help. My dad didn’t show me how to do much growing up, so I’m slowly learning all these “man things” on my own thanks to videos like these. Thanks again bud, it’ll help keep my family warm
This is how you get better man. Forget about somebody teaching you everything. You’re doing it the hard way but that’s how you learn the best. Good luck.
The news paper at the bottom is the keys starting the fire... Got it Thanks for the tutorial
Shouldn't you have a window cracked open somewhere for airflow to the fireplace? I didn't hear you mention that at all.
My log grate is not like this. It is more open. The gaps are very wide. I am good at starting a fire but it is such a pain using my grate.
Take it out, see my other video

How was this so forgotten
Just subscribed thank you :) our other channel is Sega Girl adventures 💖
Trying to start a fire in our fireplace its hard!
nonsense . the reason you get a long slow burn is because the temp is much lower having exhausted the faster burning starter pieces first . look at the smoke that is being produced because the combustion is at too low of a temp. after the big logs have burnt enough to create hot coals then what . well now you have a normal fire which could have been created much faster with the bottom up method . aside from that an open fireplace i's worthless in heating a house ,and environmentally horrible due to unburied hydrocarbons .the so called long slow burn only exacerbates this situation .
Wrong
" Wrong " omfg , thousands of years that people have been building fires and hundreds of stove makers world wide ALL showing instructions of how to start a fire with kindling on the bottom and now this you tube guy says they are all wrong . 😂😆😂 from the video - " after forty minutes the logs are ignited and burning well " that's insane . the logs that i put in my two ton soapstone oven ignite in less than 60 seconds and are fully abalaze in two minutes . lighting top down or bottom up both make fire , but the bottom up is waaay faster . one of the biggest problems with the internet is that any fool can make a video and spread inane sht influencing the 🐑 out there that are inherently gullible . some " wron " ? Not wrong , just better .
Miss you OC!❤
I've never had any problems lighting a fire, but dang, I've never thought of putting the tinder under the grate. I'm wondering why I've never thought of that
Life long learning. 😂
You rock and the 'stache is amazing! Don't listen to the haters and keep up the good work. Thanks for the tips.
❤
My nuts stay small and concentrated. Gotcha.
Will the fire stay going?
Hell ya
for a second I thought this was a Rick Steves travelogue
Hubby won’t normally let me make a fire but I got the chance so took your advice. Thank you. My first attempt went out as I don’t think I put enough newspaper underneath, so tore up some more and put it under. Lit it. What happened? Yeah it worked 🎉🎉 thank you again. You’re a star
You go Cathy!🎉
what about the damper??
😂

Yes it that exact color blue. #hauteroute
This place is awesome. #hauteroute
I’m new to all of this as well. Great video. Thank you, but everytime I light a fire my house fills with smoke. Yes the airway is open completely. But the smoke just seems to go out as opposed to up. Any suggestions? Thank you.
Have your chimney cleaned. Could be a bear stuck in it. Also crack a nearby window till the fire gets going.
I am here because I now live in a house with a fireplace. Lol! Great tip! Thank you so much!
Welcome.
