IMPORTANT UPDATE Whilst the Tactix Charlie/5X are still great watches and the video on that front still stands, Garmin have now released a more closely aligned G Shock competitor with solar power which sells for less than the GBD H ...
Fenix 6X x 2 unboxing - DO THEY HAVE THE DREADED BLUE SCREEN?!?
zhlédnutí 2,2KPřed 4 lety
I ordered two Fenix 6X sapphires after having no luck with two 6X Pro's (both blue) and a 6X Sapphire (start/stop button turned mushy after a week but had a good screen). Here I unbox them both and test them out!!
GSHOCK BEST EVER.
hope to see your feelings after an ultra
@@DuyPN-fu2tf Haven't done an ultra but have done a 3 hour long run and my only criticism is that it would be nice to have the side/front pocket combination that the Salomon has You loose a bit of extra space that I personally utilise for nutrition. It's not a deal breaker but nice to have.
@@richt3993 it seems that everything you mentioned is resolved in my Evadict 10l vest
Hi Rich, thanks for the video! I did take a look at this vest, and my only concern was the opening of the main compartment at the back seems quite small. Have you had any issues getting kit in/out etc., or have you found this ok? Thanks!
Cheers! I agree it is a touch small but not a deal breaker. It's fine shoving in a dry bag of mandatory kit. Of course it doesn't compete with the side zip opening on the 12. It feels bigger than the opening on the Adv Skin 5 if you're familiar with that.
@@richt3993 great thank you!
Looks good, thanks. However, I’m really looking for a vest that can carry 4 500ml flasks, with easy access, for hot weather running. I prefer soft flasks to a reservoir so that I can keep track of fluid intake. Anyone know of an option?
Absolutely. The Inov8 Ultrapac 8 has side pockets for flasks AND front pockets.
My trusty well-used, several year old salmon adv skin 12 is finally starting to die - frayed cords etc. This (and the 20…!) look of interest to me to replace; nice video! I’ll check this and the 20 out. Really competitive pricing too.
100% worth checking out. One extra point I neglected to make is the materials and stitching look and feel a lot more durable than the Salomon. However it remains to be seen how this translates into comfort during an ultra.
@@richt3993 thanks for the reply. Good extra info, thanks. And you’re right - the importance of buying and testing before a race! Cheers.
its diffrent! the richest featured watch vs the toughest watch in the world
Do I have to be bald to wear g shocks?
Generally I believe so 😂although Jake Gyllenhaal carries them off well in his last two cop movies (The Guilty being the latest which is an awesome movie)
@@richt3993 ahahah, I check it out
Bald here :)
I look for fuctionality vs price. If you look at garmin there is more fuctionality in there. G shock well its a gshock nothing else. Additionally gshocks price is a bit on the higher end considering the fuctionality it provides hence i would go with garmin. If i want a good looking watch then there are a lot of low cost gshock options out there.
Straight too the point 💯
One question: can you make customized running routines with the Casio app? Asking because I wish to upgrade from my Garmin 375 soon and yes, money is an issue and also I’m a casual runner. But I really like and it’s super useful making customized runs in te Garmin connect.
Garmin is more versatile than gshock. I have been a gshock fan n use gbdh1000 but I think it will not satisfy many users in terms of features
@@vipulrathod510 Thanks
G shock can't compare to a Garmin. Garmin has great apps to support it. Garmin have been doing this for to long
GBD H1000 is more like shock resistant filthens bracelet. This watch is not watch any more. They move alarm in settings. Hour beep does not exists. Sunrise and sunset does not exists. World time does not exists. Only timer is better. Disappointing. Very Disappointing
Which Watch Face is it on your Garmin in the video? I have bought the tactix delta solar after watching all the reviews and simply love it. The watch face though I am struggling to find something decent but i like the one thats on your watch
It's actually the stock Tactix Charlie watchface. You may be aware that each iteration has 1 unique watchface. However you can get a great copy on Connect IQ!
G shock was not designed as running watch it was meant as a tough survival watch , garmin blows g shock away in running and stats ,and g shock blows it away in the toughness and survival features and sensors, hope both stay that way ,we have way too many fitness watches but we got only one tough survival watch, hope g shock doesn’t go to fitness trends and let garmin do the job
I don't see how G-Shock "blows it away" on sensors? Garmin has better Altimeter/Barometer/Compass and ofc GPS(not to mention HR and Pulse Ox).
but casio made the first watch to feature a step tracker
Both are great watches, but the garmin you showcase rivals the casio g shock GPR-B1000 for military GPS map functions.
You cannot even begin to compare these two if you're using for fitness. Garmin is hands down better. The Garmin has the exact same mil standard rating at 810 so the G Shock isn't even more durable. People just assume it is because it says G Shock. Scratches are not an indicator of durability. Being able to survive being banged around, resistance to dust and other particles, withstand extreme heat and cold. That's durability. Not if the screen gets scratched or not. You can completely freeze the Instinct and it will still be ticking.
There’s no ticking.
How have your buttons held up? I had my left side, more specifically the Up/Menu button went mushy with a “camera shutter button” feel. Seemingly out of nowhere. Felt perfect for first couple weeks :(
They held up okay actually but I believe it's a fairly common problem. If its within warranty you can send it back however I dont think it impacts performance. Just annoying
Dude. Thank you for your opinion!!
Thank you !
My pleasure Monssef
Wow i had 2 6 pro had to take both back phoned garmin they said they mever heard of issues with blue screen what a bunch of lies that was!! Just bought 6 pro sapphire from a watch company screen is perfect fingers crossed it lasts
I've had 2 garmins fail on me, last one lasted 18 months. I'm considering switching to Gshock.
Which ones Mark?
@@richt3993 forerunner 735xt
@@markchatten9484 How did they fail? I think all brands have some issues and Garmin are certainly no exception but the Casio screen and metrics are just not great for serious running. I tried the Garmin Instinct too which looks similar to a GShock. Good metrics but small screen. I actually ended up with a Fenix 3 and HR strap from Ebay for £85/$100 which is great
@@richt3993 you can’t fault the garmin really, but I just don’t want to pay 300/400 quid for something that doesn’t last 2 years. I’ll go try on the G-Shock, which will be too big for my wrist, I’ll probably end up with another garmin. To be fair they have offered me a replacement for 150 quid, but I just fancied trying something else. I’ll let you know what I end up with 🤣
I recommend GShock
Would have been better if you mentioned the models on the title
I would definitely go for gshock
Of course you would!! You need something tough for Mortal Kombat !!😂
I will go for G shock. Dont want another watch which i need to baby
G Shocks are awesome but the Fenix is hardly delicate with sapphire glass and milspec for impacts amongst other things.
I did a tourcher test. The g shock broke from a 100 meter drop the garmin didn’t have a scratch on it.
@@donniehadon280 hahaha...my garmin broke after i wrong look at it
@@krayziekray9509 funny clown
@@krayziekray9509 Haha bullshit. I've seen this particular Garmin frozen in a solid block of ice and it was still ticking.
Thank's! Clear, useful and honest!
Is it ok to wash the Garmin watch thoroughy twice a day with soap due to this corona virus situation? Will the waterproofing take a hit?
I wash mine every day after activities anyway so I hope so!
the gshock hurt my wrist to wear ....think it was the wierd heart monitor circle on back, i tried on an instinct and was super comfortable. Thinking of getting the delta as an upgrade.
Yeah I think the Instinct is a ton more comfortable for the majority of people. The GShock is just huge! I would check the fit of the Delta before you buy though as it is quite a bit bigger than the Instinct
very useful information, thanks@!
Pleasure!
I am using GShock GBD H1000 for couple of weeks. Believe me you will start loving your watch and u will forgot what other charging watch experience has given to you so far.....Love 💘 the GShock GBD H1000.....
I use GBD H1000 when I train and train hard...The watch is built like tanks
I wanna buy the GBD H1000-8 Looks like a really cool watch.
Garmim all way but garmim needs to consider upsizing it’s display
Have you looked at the Fenix 6x? Its huge, but expensive! Or did you mean the Casio as the GBD has quite a small display for the size?
I have to agree with you that Garmin has better function for exercise, but I still believe gshock get serious to be part of this market share. They eventually catch up with garmin very soon. I went to the shop looking on both Garmin instinct solar and GBD H1000. At the end I decided to go for gshock.
why did you go for gshock ? was is because the durability factor?
@@frozeball I chose Gshock, because I am a gshock fan and I love its look and toughness. If you want to use it for running and others exercise, I will recommend Garmin.
I definitely prefer the look of the GBD over the instinct 100%!
G Shock is not even in the same realm as Garmin when it comes to fitness and they aren't catching up anytime soon. Let's stop kidding ourselves lol.
G-shocks are awesome ( I own 5 solar-powered models; 10+ years old and function flawlessly) but can't compare to the stats Garmin offers. For the serious trainer, Garmin is about the only option... not a fan of Garmin's aftermarket support though. I've used Fitbit... doesn't play well with other apps... and the Apple watch Series 5.... more of just an iPhone extension.
im sold now! i was about to buy the gshock before i saw your video. garmin it is!
g-shock better all :D
I think it really depends what you are looking for. Ultra cheap (for the lower end stuff) durable and cool looking then absolutely the G Shock. Functionality, fitness metrics and smart capability then it has to be Garmjn I think.
as you said compare something incomparable. dlc vs resin. of a gps map on watch vs smarphone gps. for my part I prefer the gpr-b1000 which does not need wifi or smartphone to operate and an unbeatable battery
@@champagnejunior They are very comparable and aimed at a similar market. Casio launched this for the fitness market which Garmin and others also target. There are however differences in features and construction but they are still aimed at the same market. Much like Fitbit and Garmin where the latter has maps. GPR B1000 is similar in some respects to the Charlie in that it has a navigation facility but it isn't for fitness. As for battery yes it's great but functionally it doesnt compare. Personally I would simply get a cheap solar battery and have Garmins functionality. G Shock succeeds because of its loyal following (of which I am one), mainly because no other watch looks as kick ass. But for functionality, they are appalling for the money
@@champagnejunior I meant incomparable because the quality is so much higher on the Garmin. Ie the Casio doesnt compare rather than it is not possible to compare. Sorry for the confusion
Hi buddy can you also include amazfit t rex review along with other 2 watches
Thanks for the message. The watches were actually my own. I have the Tactix and I bought the G Shock to see how it compared but sent it back
Nice one! This gives me hope... I've been waiting a month for my 6 Sapphire to arrive in Australia after returning my 6s Sapphire with the blue screen and I'll be GUTTED if I have to return another one! Cheers.
Good luck!
@@richt3993 Just confirming... New Fenix 6 Sapphire arrived hot-off-the-production line today and it has the CORRECT SCREEN. 👍👍👍 It's so new it didn't even require a software update. I'm one very happy Dude. Cheers Bro!
