I'm wondering (after reading today's article in the Guardian / July 26) if Claire really GETS Nabokov. In short, does she realize what's "in there"!?!?!?! You can almost cast aside the stories per se, and read for so many other reasons. Surely they teach you to read more deeply/carefully and with more insight at Trinity. I just don't understand/can't understand reading Nabokov on such a superficial level--especially after claiming to have re-read Lolita, say, numerous times.

So interesting to hear from Claire how some of this book came into being. And I am so glad it did. I loved the real life pace of the book, how the toddler reality gave it shape, and that a book was be able to be made out of a time that seems so hard to grasp. Fantastic interview, the book sounds great! I love books with themes of the harshness and cruelty of nature and religion. Currently my favorite is The Mercies by Kiran Millwood Hargrave, but this sounds like it could definitely be a contender.

I loved the book! The characters were so real and multidimensional. Louise Kennedy paints vivid pictures through her descriptions. I grew up a Catholic in a small town in Canada and could relate to many of the characters.

I am enjoying this series so much. From across the ocean, near Buffalo, NY. Thank you. I hope they continue!
