My Dad had played guitar since the 50's, when I was 10 he took me to get my very first personal guitar, he had 5 guitars picked out and ready for me to try, at that time he had been teaching me a bit here and there for about a year, well when Dad brought me the five guitars one at a time I wasn't allowed to know the price, so I played each, and that day he taught me one of the best lessons of my life, and I've carried and used it throughout my life, he said you pick the guitar that you think sounds the best and that ones the best, well the one I picked was the second to the cheapest, I learned that day that just because somethings more expensive doesn't necessarily mean it's better. I'll soon be taking my daughter down for her first guitar for her 12th birthday, and even though Dads been gone years now, part of him lives on in wisdom that I can hopefully now pass on, thanks dad, I miss you everyday ❤️

Taylor has way more voice, the Yamaha is surprisingly warm and inviting though, I would pay 200 all day for that sound, the Taylor is going to be way better in the studio, will give you so many more preset options just because of how wide the sound stage on it is

Eddie Van Halen could make a broom with fishing lines scream. I think it’s more the musician than anything else. If you suck then a $5000 guitar isn’t going to save you.

My conclusion, Taylor is an overpriced guitar.

The Taylor, hands down. For $200 the Yamaha sounds great, but the low end sounds like a cardboard box... less sustain in the upper register, too. Subtle, but you can easily hear it... The Taylor's low end is solid and the upper register is bright with more "bell tone". TBH, cost wise, a $1000 Taylor is one of the less expensive they offer, but it's a solid player that will last forever. (full disclosure, after many years of playing, Taylor is my choice for acoustic guitar and I currently own 8 of them). 😎👌🎶
