Gore-tex, plasticated, and elasticated fabrics... These don't perform as well as this guy is implying, and these leaps 'forward' were at the behest of big business. (Um, hello Technofeudalism. You were saying something about ecological terrorism, colonization, and cyberpunk, right?) The 1700's, 1800's, and early 1900's might have been the scene for the creation, popularization, and passing around of toxic dyes, and then everything got so much worse with the 40's, 50's, 60's, and 70's new material boom (Fossil fuels and war baby!). Thing is, without going too far into the oppression of women and racism I think it's hard to explain the material culture that's been cemented into place as a norm, and ultimately, an unquestioned good. I'm a fan of both tech wear, and green design, and when I started my fashion life, I thought they were much more in conflict, and where there was one, I nearly always reached for the techwear leaning solution, because I thought it was more durable, and would last longer, thereby using less resources overall, and saving me significant hassle. Over the years, I have been somewhat disabused of the notion of techwear synthetics having that simple, or significant of an advantage, as I had imagined. What I have come to realize instead is that construction matters, and old ways of constructing natural materials, tend to be easier to mend (as well as head and shoulders above, when it comes to recycling). Not only that, but the secret factor, the thing to make, or break everything, the question mark hanging over my head, was laundering. I do my own laundry. I wasn't a fool, going into things. I had a clue. It still continues to surprise me what intersections between materials, use, and laundering technique, make themselves known in the care of a garment, and then become the deciding factors for its life and use. So, construction wise, a lot of the looks we rely on in mainstream vernacular, and in futuristic looks, rely upon serged seams, and a further lack of adjustability. Layering, and having loose layers can be good for that, but you know what's infinitely better? Clothes that tie in place like the split side skirt and pants developed from eighteenth century petticoats. There's more historical adjustability than you can shake a stick at, but I like the modern example of Sasha Starlight's adjustable palazzo pants. And you know what? Before elastic, there were technologies like knitting and sprang, to breathe with the body. Which... breathable fabrics are another thing natural fibers do so well. I have one last point to make, which is whenever the status quo is lifted up as evidence of a naturally better future, where problems have been dealt with better, it is irresponsible not to bring up the people this technology, and great production rest upon, and the condition of their lives. Textile production is notorious for polluting, enslavement, and... There's abuse all over the place, but as one example, workers involved in viscose production are working with caustic substances they are not adequately shielded from. I kid you not, these people are the matchstick girls of our time. They get disabled and killed at a terrific rate, because of these poisons. Now, I got my information from a documentary a while back, and it is something that has stuck in my mind. Generously speaking, I'm not anything more than an armchair expert. But this is a pretty clear illustration of the powers at work, and how little people making the decisions care about lives their decisions effect. And maybe a bit of self control on our collective part, or a little reimagining of what could be, would go a long way. We tend to operate from a zeitgeist norm, especially with fashion, and so it is so important to leave room for humane technology in what we envision, for that to become popular. I know, cyberpunk, versus solarpunk, but does it really need to be split that way? Really?

One thing with the skate pro, sometimes you may get ingrowns from wearing them while skating then i find i would sometimes get ingrowns compared to something like converse

These are one of my grails I'm thinking of getting them only if they last long. How've they held up so far? I found a listing for about 500 usd for a size thats about half a size or 3/4th more than my tts. Do you think its worth it?

I've always leaned towards a mix of cyberpunk and goth clothing, but as my wardrobe is overflowing, and I don't wear half of what's there, I decided I'm going to recycle a bunch of the articles by destroying and combining them into a more straightforward 90's cyberpunk aesthetic. As I'm watching this I'm combining a worn out pair of grey jeans with a black denim jacket I got from a charity shop for €3.
