Ah good old RP. Pity more don't speak as clearly as Mr Baxter.
Recorded much later. He was only 36 in 1958.
Gotta love George Fury, looks like he’s goin to the cricket. If they panned down he may have even been wearing double pluggers 😂
Proper Group A
And then Walkinshaw stuffed any chance the Commodore might’ve had by over revving it 🤦♂️
Great memories! When drivers had to muscle those cars, insane.
It was a surprise to see that some cars were left in the side of the track for so long. For instance the Dick Johnson Sierra.
I was wondering which of the Brabham boys was in the M3 then the announced said it was Gary. Oh, dear.
it is interesting to see this old footage i was always under the impression that walkinshaw hung crap on mr tesoriero - possibly due to what i have read, but in this interview, he seems quite calm and just uses the words "damn camaro" which is quite understandable - just annoyed/philosophical about the situation, not the other drivers :) perhaps, my 54 year old brain deciphers things differently than my 15 year old brain
Cheating poms same as cricket,
Eggenberger was Swiss.....GET IT RIGHT!
I love it when someone runs their mouth, when they don’t know what they’re talking about….and they end up making an utter bellend of themselves. Kind of like you, mate. 😂🤡
1:15 Man!! So many cars in the race back then! So good!
Where's part 2 of these highlights?

Anyone know what the song name at 5:57 ?
God I wish we were back in those days.
Does anyone know where's the 25 HDT Commodore these days?
I just love the drivers having a chat with the broadcasters while fucking flying down this mountain....
Damgerous cars hars to drive moss loose championship for 1 point great season
Give me the ford falcon..... don't worry ...I know what it can do
Disqualified by virtue of illegal fuel, Brock Wins. 20 year old Rochester QudraJet And Overhead valve Tech saves the Day.
They were actually disqualified for illegal bodywork - larger wheel arches.
@@nnoddy8161 Thanks!
Tom Catted Walkinshaw. The Canny Cannae beat him. Or his cars. RIP. 🥝✔️
🥝✔️ Last of the Big Bangers. The Commodore VH and VK eventually copied the dominance of the A9X 308, but it took a long time to do it. Dickie Maybee never trusted non return valves and electric fuel pumps again. I'll bet those 5 laps of waiting to restart his 17 caused him to lean a lot harder on the full floater 9 inch axle. It takes bulk power to break one of them, especially when the Falcon weighed in at just 1285 kilos that year. Vale the 351 Cleveland..

That's one of the best views of race can ever. 💦🙏🙌

What lap did the Mike burgman incident occur on?
Lap 6 I think
that was anti climactic
That rotten Brock, is that the rotten Brock that stopped to give you a ride back to the pits when you put it into the wall at Forest Elbow?
Yes. But Dickie regretted that as a shocked but still alive passenger from Forest Elbow via HDT O5. And gave him a posthumous Sorry, and Thanks. After winning ATCC 1981, 1982, 1984, Dickie just wanted the Bathurst crown that year.
Miss the original track, as much as I miss the original Le Mans.. Yes there was a terrible crash, but every racer knows it might happen at any moment, if you're really unlucky. This was a test of both man and machine. Durability, technique and power
When Dick is polite but loving it 🤣
The last year before conrod straight said we are soft on breaks 🤦
The most unrecognised champion in our Australian racing History 🙏🦘❤️🙌
Man that commodore is outrageous coming across the top and passing everyone like they are stopped
Was this Toby Scheckter related to Jody and Ian? Edit: He is Jody's son
Within the select group of great pilots there were two who were exceptional, one was Stirling Moss and the other was Peter Collins, but because at that time they had to compete with the greatest in history, Juan Manuel Fangio, both ended up being true champions without Crown.
"Stirling was unconsious for thirty eight days".
Don't know about hanging your arm out the window.. how do you stall a camero..what a mess..
It was the Jaguar that stalled, due to a sheared clutch
Does anybody know the music used for the intro?
Oh group C where art thou💩👎
This exact coverage of Bathurst '87 is what started my obsession with the Sierra RS500, ultimately leading me to now being the custodian of one of the two genuine Brocky Mobil Sierras remaining. Despite having various cuts of this race on multiple official VHS tapes and DVDs I haven't seen that Des Lynam intro for 34 years. Thanks for sharing. Brought back great memories...!
Brock was Commodore
@@ripme6616 lol no shit but 89 /1990 he was in rs 500.
Mate are u in Australia Id love to see that car!
@@blainesellars1548 No pal, sorry. Do a search for "Late Brake Show RS500" on CZcams.

87. Definitely the beginning of the end for Bathurst
