What a brilliant line up this was. We used to love watching the AAA Champs in our house, compulsive viewiing.
Guy Bullock’s 45.76 would have won the 2023 British championships - it’s a shame as a European junior champion didn’t get there in the seniors - what happened to him anyone ?
That's a whole lotta whining
How come GBR is very strong at European championships but not being able to repeat the success at the Olympics in relays?
When gb had real strength in the 400m.
Das war ja gar nichts, kein Ton, kein Sieger, NICHTS. !!!!!!!!
1996 was the peak of GB 400 running: Black 44.37 Richardson 44.52 Baulch 44.57 Ladejo 44.66 Thomas 44.66A & 44.69
Such a great period of British 400m running.
What a line up. Jesus how the talent has dropped off a cliff in U.K. men’s 400m
What a field. What a race. I was at the stadium that day. 45.33 only good enough for 5th I still have the programme I watched the UK championships in Manchester in July 2023 - won in 45.9!
You did indeed make them work for it. great job keeping Ladejo out of that 3rd spot.
😅 Promo-SM
Dreadful camera work
Iove it!!
Elias won that what a carve up
wow, another close race, must have been exciting for a USA fan in 2003. what a great crowd, France really produced a full stadium, nice to see
made sense to 'sacrifice' the 400m virgin Lauren Hewitt on the first leg and then throw unfit Cathy into the 2nd. In-form Tamsyn & Jana could be relied on after that.
Michael Johnson nailed it Chris Rawlinson won that race for England because he put Daniel Caines in position to strike on the anchor leg but also Michael Blackwood messed it up by going early on the top bend to try get past Mullings the Bahamian whilst Caines waited until halfway and then attacked dropping the baton was insult to injury really
It was a great tactic because in the individual final Schultz went out very hard and wore Caines down in the home straight
웅장하다
Australia won not bcos of freeman but bcos of the 3 other aussie runners who performed exceptionally well, freeman worse 2nd leg run.
Michael blackwood always a mess in the 4x400 relay
I never like Michael blackwood on any of Jamaica 🇯🇲 relay team!!!! Always a mess!!! Only if Davian Clarke was on that anchor leg instead of 3rd leg
so sad that some of these guys were not clean
you mean steroids, or tactics during the race?
@@hermangustafson1683 Jerome life time ban for doping.
Jamaica did not change gears he forgot to change gear LOL
do you have men's triple jump?
Hallo, excuse me.Do you have men's triple jump in this game?
A very young Paul Slythe on the anchor leg 🏴
Ireland were missing Tomas Coman, a sub 46 runner. If they had him on the third leg, they’d have been up there.
They knocked the baton out Jamaicans hands . Automated disqualification
Cathy and Jana!!! My two alltime fave Aussies!
What a privilege that must have been to be a part of this race and also to have been be part of a crop of strong GB 400m runners during this time. Its such a shame that a level like that has not been seen since.
1996 was the year that it all came together for Roger Black
What?! Didn't quite "come all together"...We all know how the Olympic final went.
@@NevaUndaPressure we know Michael Johnson was THE MAN but I meant for Roger no injuries, good form and he got the silver behind superman
Matthew Hudson Smith just broke this record today!
Was here to say the same thing lol, by 1 100th again lol
@The RoadRunner yup, I'm hoping he knocks a few more tenths off, sub 44 well overdue
and again!!
Roger Black, what a legend. The 90s were great.
Apologies but what happened to Jamaica on the pass from their first to second runner?
Lorriane Graham-Fenton lost one foot of her shoes and decide not to continue the leg. Read in an article years ago she locked herself in her room after the event and refuse to talk to anyone. That aside she had a brilliant career and is still currently the Jamaican record holder over the 400m!!!
OMG, Janna is an amazing BEAST of strength. Love Dr Pitmann!
you ever wonder if she's on drugs?
Xzibit announcing the runners?
What time did Jonathan Edwards get?
I think it was around 10.6 but he was clearly capable of faster with better conditions and opposition
CHAMPION DU MONDE!! USA CHEATERS!!!
Aussie won
Aussies and English did good
Lovely video!
An old friend of mine. Top man.
What a race, remember it well - 8 brilliant British 400m runners, and you could see what it meant to England to win it, and how devastated the Welsh lads were to get so close. Never in doubt of a GB gold at the Europeans a few weeks later with those teams mixed! Well done Jared - your career deserved those two golden moments, just getting in a relay squad in that era was some achievement
Funny Australia came last, 2 years later got the silver medal at the Olympics!
Athens pal
And won this event at the next two commonwealth games.
Thanks fot uploading this, it's nice to share with family.
44.17? Who's GR was that?
I dont think that is correct as Iwan Thomas set the record 44.54sec in 1998...it might have been wrongly put up as a games record when it was probably the commonwealth record (Innocent Egbunike 44.17sec Zurich 1987)
What a leg by Clint Hill. I think the world forgot what he could do on the anchor until this race!
the blonde french athlete is very disappointed, but he did a great race. Jerome Young is a first class, almost impossible to beat face to face
@Rodrigo Antonio Rojo, fun fact: Jerome Young was on steroids during that race. He tested positive after the World Championships, so the U.S. team got DQ-ed and France was awarded first place. As a result of the positive test, Young was also stripped of the 400m gold medal he won during the 2003 World Championships.
@@ROFusion thanks, i can imagine how happy Was the french blondie athlete
@@rodrigoantoniorojo2725, you're welcome, no problem. The French blonde athlete's name is Marc Raquil and (at the time) he was the national record holder for France in the 400m dash. Since he was the fastest member of the French team, he put a lot of pressure on himself to help the team win. That's why he was so angry when he came in 2nd place.
