  • @HartenDylan
    @HartenDylan Před 7 dny

    The first wedding I shot was a small gathering about 5 years ago for a couple friends of mine. They had 0 expectations and simply wanted someone to document the day, and being my first wedding it was a great first kick at the can. Ended up using a full-frame and aps-c duo, with a 35mm f/1.4 and 85mm f/1.8 combo. It worked really well because I could use the 35mm on the full frame for the wides/mediums, and the 85mm on the aps-c for ~136mm full-frame equivalent to get the tighter shots. If there was a point where things were moving a bit slower and I had time to swap lenses, then I would effectively achieve ~56mm and 85mm for a bit of visual variety before switching back. I definitely agree with the recommendation of a 35mm in your kit, or if you're considering shelling out for a 24-70, consider the 35-150 f/2-2.8 as a great all arounder (its on my wishlist).

      @trentandjessie Před 7 dny

      That sounds like a cool way to do it 👍🏼 We have the 35-150mm for video and it’s a great lens. Have used it a couple times for photos and it’s a pretty nifty lens, although becomes a little front heavy.

  • @lesnayalesichka
    @lesnayalesichka Před 8 dny

    I am going shoot events placing 3-5 lenses in my backpack. They are 16-35/2.8; 35/1.2; 50/1.2; 85/1.4 and 135/2.8. Sometimes 70-200/2.8 (depends on location). All are the Canon EF full frame, but camera is RF full-frame.

    I'm upgrading my gear and definitley picking up the 35mm 1.4, but I'm having trouble deciding between the Sigma 85mm 1.4 or the Tamron 70-180 2.8 What would you select? Thanks.

    • @mcm111able

      @HartenDylan Před 7 dny

      If it's available for your body, the Tamron 35-150 f/2-2.8 is a great all arounder. Prime like apertures at the wide end, and up to a 150 is near enough to a 180/200 for large variety of situations.

    I am just an amateur photographer and I never shoot a weding yet, but I would think 35mm is too wide for me. I would probably take 24-70mm (f2.8) as the main and most versatile lens.

    I would add a couple of things to this.I use my Canon digital SLR's with an on camera flash that tilts and swivels.I bounce light off the ceiling or sidways off a wall to avoid harsh shadows being thrown on the wall behind your subject. Also my camera has a flash exposure compensation setting. This made all the difference for me when I was trying to get it right. cheers Geoff

    Interesting video, thanks! It would be very interesting to see how the original digital file was and how you have edited to match the Portra 400 colours!

      Thanks so much! Maybe we should have included the original, un-edited versions in the video. We'll keep this in mind for next time :)

    Nice Video and great comparison especially at 1:36 rely like the warme tones and the softness of the Film but on the other hand the Digital has way more details when shoot against the Sunlight.

      Thanks so much! We really love the tones of the film too. When looking at the backlit film images, we realised we should have exposed more for the shadows. Overall we really love the look of the film ☺️
