I'm sorry, but you are wrong. Please do some research before you assert a claim. Router's distributes the information across multiple connections, there are both wired and wireless and combination routers. Modems takes the information being transmitted, whether it is a cable, DSL, Dialup, or FIOS and changes it to something your computer can interact with. You may be thinking of the Modem/Router combo's that are more prevalent now days, which FIOS and most cable companies use/provide. Just because it does not sound like you are logging on to AOL, does not mean it is not a modem. (Those are sometimes referred to as Analog Modems because they decoded audio signals and not electronic signals)
