There's 22 mins of my life I'll never get back. Guess we're just plum out of time . . .
This version had the best theme music!
Gizmo came outta nowhere! I thought it was June bug
I love this game!
Of alex trebek's 10 game shows i like Double dare for its announcer johnny olsen High rollers for its premise Pitfall for its bonus round Battlestars for the people that appeared on the show including bowser betty white and rip taylor Jeopardy for its 1st theme song 🎵 from 1984-1996 Classic concentration for its rebus puzzles and bonus round To tell the truth for the 1 on 1 format from the 1991 version
Paid a scandalous amount for my copy on eBay, worth every penny. I cherish this game.
I hope a new edition of the Definition home game can be created and sold in Wal-Mart stores.
Spotted one at a flea market in Calgary
I had the home game. I might've had two if they were still giving them out when they used my definition on the show.
Fun Fact: The background music for Door #2 is from the obscure 1977 game show "It's Anybody's Guess"...hosted by Monty Hall, and announced by Jay Stewart.
It was announced yesterday that this show may get a reboot.
18:33 - 18:38 That is the very first time I've ever seen that being done. No letters on the board and yet she got it for the maximum amount of dollars.
14:55 - 15:03 You told him to say it slow, he's doing it!
How could they not know the hot sauce was .89? I think Monte was disappointed with them and ended that deal quickly.
THE LOWSY M F ER WILL BREAK DOWN BEFORE SHE TURNS THE KEY
i hope BUZZR will get those episodes so I can see more of that model Julie. She is so pretty.
I can't believe this was 50+ years ago …
Jim Scotland pressed his cluck and ended up with egg on his face #yolksonhim
Despite the 'lower' big deal payouts there was giving away some quality prizes in this version
I heard something that Monty Hall had to step in to make sure that contestants got their respective prizes from this version. This version was a collaboration Hatos-Hall did with Catalena Productions, the same company that later stiffed Alex Trebek for his work on "Pitfall".
You know, if I took this entire 1980-81 run of Let's Make A Deal and animated it into the "South Park" style with (or without) the help of Parker and Stone, while retaining the original audio of all of the episodes, you will be seeing each episode jam-packed with flapping trash can heads and beady eyes! Sorry for being racist....
Buzzr needs to start airing this 1980-81 version of Let's Make A Deal alongside the 1984-86 ANLMAD!
I totally agree with you, man!
Don't forget the '90s lmad.
@@stevensuarez4843 They'll get to that, eventually.
Have their full run?
Yes... we stream both seasons (including these guys' run) at www.bonusround.ca and our iOS app
These are interesting to see. Apparently you couldn’t show real money on Canadian television or maybe they didn’t want to show Canadian money. I do miss Jay Stewart though. He and Monty were a great team but I know he was announcing for Barry and Enright shows in 1981. Thanks for sharing this as I don’t remember seeing them when they aired (if they did in the Louisville Kentucky area).
Monty did explain the LMAD money on at least one occasion. Since the show had both Canadian and American contestants, that money was used only on air and the contestant(s) would be paid in the currency of their home country.
I wonder what station in Indianapolis, IN aired the 1980-1981 LMAD
13:23 and 17:58: If you live in the Vancouver area and ever thought about becoming a contestant on Talk About or becoming a member of the studio audience… YOU’RE 34 YEARS TOO LATE!!!!!
Ha. We left the audience / contestant plugs in the episodes we stream.
I wonder if WANX has saved any of the episodes of Let's Make A Deal from 1980 and 1981.
I remember watching Let's Make A Deal on a station which is now FOX Rochester (channel 31 WUHF-TV).
They would sometimes coax minor American celebrities to make appearances on this show....fuck knows how but they did it. Free set of bath towels? A new Brother electric typewriter maybe?
That was a tricky non-bonus definition - didn't get it until the last letter called
4:36
My main takeaway from this show’s run: No W, no guess.
I got it off of the clue. With no letters showing.
Classic Canadian game show, as a longtime game show fan, Definition was probably in my Top 10, puns and fun galore.
Yeah, that was a tough one
Graham Jarvis & Rosemary Forsyth?
Thamks for posting...given both this series and Pitfall were produced by Catalena Productions, both series had some shared crew members (co-producer/Catalena founder Ian MacLennan, director Geoff Theobald, production staffer Cathy Okulitch, and stage managers Nick Orchard and Lyle Povah).
Believe it or not, this show was the day after a show I had recorded on audio cassette (I saw that show on CKCO-TV, on the channel 42 signal from Chatham, I think, when that station's signal came into my youth home town of Cleveland Heights, OH, USA)!
Ouch. He should have called for a G, a costly mistake.
R.I.P. Jim Perry!!!?
R.I.P. Jim Perry!!!?
Some of the puns were recycled from past episodes during the final three years of the show.
After an episode of Card Snarks, no doubt 😏
Thank you for posting this one - had wondered if Joe appeared on the show at some point.
A clever pun for the second definition
Talk About Host Wayne Cox (1988-90) The End!!!?
Joe with "Face Value!"
THANK YOU!!:)
The contestant plugs imply that they were hoping for a season 3, but the crew call-up to me says they knew it was unlikely.
Talk About was doing well in the ratings in both Canada and the United States. But in Canada, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation decided it did not want Talk About on its schedule anymore (I think they just didn't want game shows on the schedule anymore). And we are told Talk About needed a Canadian co-producer / broadcaster to be worthwhile economically This decision to cancel did not come until well after the second season final episode was taped.
@@BonusRoundCanada So in other words, the 90s happened 😆
I heard Talk about was doing so well in the ratings in one market it was actually beating wheel of fortune there.
