Looks like the majority in the away end that day were singing it? If you're implying that those singing it in the United end aren't United fans then you're the simpleton. It's literally impossible to get away tickets in the United end for any game (never mind a Champions League game) if you're not a season ticket holder and haven't built up your away credits. The away end here sold out well in advance of this game.

They’re singing “Fck the Pope!” Even though some of their own are Catholic! The IRA bombing campaign was a disgrace end of story. However I’d just like to point out that when Celtic sing “IRA” songs it’s about the originals in particular the era of the Easter Rising 1916 where teenagers were fighting the British army on the streets of Dublin. Don’t forget the Brits did a fair bit of terrorising of their own back in the day.

I remember Brian Robson going over and all the Celts showering him with scarfs with his daughters by his side. The United fans invading the pitch and going over and climbing fence to shake hands with the Celtic support. United and Celtic always had a bond mate. No need for “Fck the Pope” chants. I have no shame in singing of my ancestors struggle against the British empire but draw the line at bombing innocents in England. Bit of respect both ways bud.

@@liamkeogh5135 I am British through and through and I totally agree and think you and us should both be able to feel proud of past even if there are bumpy parts- for me the line is drawn when names such as the IRA or UVF are used that’s then too far. United fans have every right to sing anti ira chants because as I said they were massively hurt by ra bombings, but with any team don’t care who it is I don’t think politics and religion should be brought into football. I don’t think utd/ Celtic is much of a thing anymore to be honest I know it used to be but I think those ties aren’t relevant anymore plus sir Alex was ex rangers player. Let’s be honest though pal, politics shouldn’t be brought into football full stop, but I do feel we both have the right to feel proud and patriotic 🇬🇧🤝🇮🇪
