Flying Bee Wind Chime

This type of chime is typically bought more for visual effect than because of the sounds it makes; the tubes are not tuned and, being small, they produce a light tinkling sound - which is nonetheless quite pleasing.
The decorative item in this instance is the bee - produced from resin to give a "stained glass" effect. It's lighter than glass and more robust - it won't shatter if it should fall to the ground.

15 bamboo chimes are arranged in a spiral below a section of giant bamboo. The word "chimes" is something of a misnomer as bamboo, typically, does not resonate like metal tubes. What the manufacturer describes as "glass" is actually resin; nonetheless it makes an attractive addition to this chime. The cord which supports each tube is attached to a small metal rod welded inside the tube, rather than passing through holes drilled into the metal. We're not entirely sure why this one is so named - though the wooden components could be described as similar to Cornish slate, China Clay (mined near St Austell) or perhaps it's resembles driftwood.
