Nice.
Owned and raced a Moto Ski. 1979 250 cc IFS. LOVE TO OWN one again.
I had a very nice Skidoo Citation back in the mid 80's. Same day I bought it , I decided to do some drinking that evening we ran out of beer so I volunteered to get some. There was plenty of snow in Fargo so I fired up the sled. I had made it to the bar so I figured I better have a shot of schnapps along with a 12pk to go. I was 3 sheets to the wind by now. When I left the bar I had gotten my directions mixed up. I was on a frontage road going about 50mph , eyes were watery and freezing. Next thing you know the road ended & made a hard left. I didn't come close to making the turn. I ended up missing the large black and yellow sign & hit the berm left behind from the plow truck. I hit it & went flying like Super Dave Osborne. Hit the frozen ground, beer went flying of course no helmet. A guy driving by saw it happen, he helped me get going again and I limped me & the sled home. That's when I learned not to drive a snowmobile drunk.
I had a 294 Silver Bullet & my brother had a 72' 340 TN'T. My dad had a 73' el tigre 440 free air , it would eat those Ski-doo's like a Cat eating a Canary 😂 Still good times & great memories.
Great memories my 88 elan is mint . Never owned a car just trucks I can honestly say I have driven a elan more kms than a car. Used them on my trapline from 74 to 2001 was so reliable never had the feeling if it broke down I couldn’t fix it to get home. Modem machines are more reliable but if it breaks out in bush you can’t fix them.
I had the '73 Silver Bullet behind it. It was a great machine. Then an '83 Citation for a pair.
I am looking for a shop manual for a 69 Seadoo?
And I thought only Mopar Hemi’s were found in barns!
So the hoods were slightly wider too. Thanks for the great vid!
had a Nordik 377 with the same single carb setup when i was a kid, was one of the best trail machines i ever rode just enough power to have fun, great on gas and light enough to dig out if you got stuck
Sure looks like a ski doo
Im not sure why they built sleds without a jackshaft, after the f/a sleds had them in 74
A good question would be how many 85s were built and where is the first 1 built and last 1 built. Both museum worthy if you ask me
Im from the NWT, i grew up on a.1969 Nordic 399, loved that machine. Your videos are very well done and your knowledge is really appreciated.
Holy cow!! Awesome sled! I'm from Caribou, Maine and we get many feet of snow each winter. I've been snowmobiling for years but never seen nor heard of the Moto-Ski you're sitting on! I love it!
That's amazing!! I didn't know Moto-Ski made a minibike! It looks just like a "Rupp" Roadster.
There was the second generation in 1981 with the 444 liquid cooled rotary valve engine. First generation in 1974 had a 28 hp rotax piston port twin.
That thing started right up too
The "foot steps" seems very narrow?
I always wondered who sold Moto Skis? For some reason I feel like you bought them at Canadian Tire?? Am I wrong?
For 32 years Ive made a living fixing Pwc on major large lake and bombardier make me a very good living.
First ski doo I drove was a brand new '76 elan 300SS that my dad bought. I was 8. Loved that sled! Would love to find one again someday!
this sled felt light years ahead of the late 70s Skidoos the 464 was a great engine too the only downside was the battery was housed way up front near the nose which could sometimes affect the handling sled was good for 80mph on an open road, which was amazingly good for a trail machine at that time
My 1st riding experience were in 1972 on a TNT but it was silver,, possibly a 71.
My brother had a mirage special with the 377.
It was 20 to 1 back in the day.
My old man had a 775. One of the first modification was to add a larger handle to start it. It was a beast to start. Back in the day, not many sleds would go by him on the lake.
Had a tnt 440 fan in the early 90's loved it. Also I saw the moto sonic 250 had one of those also around the same time loved that one too. I remember it had the bump outs in the sides . Still have two motoski zefers need restoring but they bring back great memories
Is this sled forsale?
Team Vincent, you stated the tilitson carb had no fuel pump. ? It's nothing but a fuel pump!
I remember seeing the 1st consumer RVs..75-76.. my eye's bugged out, thinking they just started production of their winning race sleds. They were nothing like the old blizzards from just a few years earlier.
I have a 1978 340 Nuvik. I would love to get some info to the best places to buy decals, and other parts. Anyone out there, it would be so appreciated. I am in Nova Scotia, Canada. Thank you.
For sale? In Kitchener.
I can’t believe these were actually only made for 25 years and it’s now been 27 years since they ceased production. They seemed like they were everywhere and would always be available. I loved my 1979 Elan twin cylinder passed down from my brother.
Bought a 1977 TNT 440 FC new. Was a top speed of 60 mph on speedometer
My brother had a moto ski super Sonic. He bought a new ski doo formula plus in 91. Tge super Sonic was faster
Awesome sled. I remember when they came out. Grew up in Minnesota on the lakes. They definitely are a sharp snowmobile. My Uncle & my brother had 340's. Eventually I got my brothers. I've had many sleds over the years, this is one of my favorites .
,That colour-stripe combo was unique to that year of TNT. Owners are proud that look.
Got two of the Mini Sno’s. JLO engine. Thanks for the Great Video.
as a sport item it doesn't fit. If it was fully enclosed with heat... then it would have a use as a rescue vehicle, pulling a trailer that was also heated it could be used as a "centerpoint" for skidoo group, so if a storm rolled in or someone got hurt, or to cold, they could be moved "inside" a heated compartment. the Snowbulance trailer for example would pair great, as you could have a 2-3 people sitting in there for heat OR carry a stretcher there for injuries. Add to that, people who live in off grid cabins who have to bring family up to or back from a cabin in an emergency, a fully enclosed cabin would protect from extreme cold and allow the travel to and from. (leading almost to the requirement that the heat be separate from the engine, for example a Diesel heater 2kw, fed from a battery that could be charged from the snomobile. giving the user several DAYS of heat in a true emergancy such that if trapped in a serious blizard... they could simply shut off the engine and run the heater on battery and its own fuel for days if needed till rescue could arrive.
I had the 72 TNT 440. Fast pretty reliable. I liked it... Traded it for a 77 tnt 440. Junk. Bought Arctic Cat Eltigre 6000 and never looked back.
Was the Cat an 81 6000? That sled was light years ahead of the TNT's of the seventies. I had both, Doo's and Cats.
@@xcpilot618 actually a 79 6000 cross country. Then I replaced it with a 87 5000 tiger. It wasnt the fastest thing by rode like a dream.
I had an 81 Supersonic.
Bet ya wish ya still had it !
That thumbnail looks like one of my pictures of my elans, lol.
My first sled, in '76, was an Elan. I have 4 of them now.
Dad traded his 1971 Olympic 339 in the fall of '73 for a new leftover Elan SS 250 twin..73-74 was lousy(New England) snofall,warm...those twin carbs(tilliotson?)..would bog down...Dad had it converted to the single carb(mikuni?).that helped....when Dad upgraded fall'75 for a new TNT 340...the Elan was my new ride..fun nimble machine a true classic..miss those days of yesteryear..🤟
I have one.
another great video, keep them coming
It's pronounced Zeeeeeeeee, not Zed!!!
Agreeeeeeed :-) Cheers
Is that the Grand Prix that you picked up earlier this year? I had a 340 single Sachs engine in mine.
Thank you, it's a pleasure bringing these videos to BRP fans and motorsports enthusiasts.
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it. Every time we start work on a video we also learn more about the subject matter. I (Phil) also learn more after the fact when collectors contact me with bonus info and corrections too :-)
I so appreciate that you’re producing these videos. I never knew that Moto- Ski, along with other manufacturers made these smaller displacement sleds. I thought that the Arctic Cat Kitty Cat was all that was available for that time but I was mistaken. Great job!
There a few companies back then producing children and you sleds. Alouette had the Jr Brute, Yardman had the Snowcub, and then were Snow-pony and SnoPrince as well. Hit the google search and you'll see some cool stuff. Thanks and cheers.
1972 Panther would kicks it’s ass
I remember racing my buddies 72 Cheetah, 440 vs 440.....you just brought back good memories of old school field racing. Thanks! (Oh, I beat him every time )
The problem with the beavertail was when you got buried in deeper snow, it made for a very difficult time lifting the back of the machine up.
I agree, it looked easy, but wasn't.
I finally picked up a sled after about 12 years. I bought a near mint 03 800 Ski-Doo Rev with the x package. First Ski-Doo I have had in 23 years. It has the beavertail delete. I enjoy your videos very much. I am in Collingwood, I might take a trip down to see you at some point. My oldest son is 11, I may pick up a 340cc for him for next year. Hopefully we get some snow soon, fingers crossed.
