    Dude, I took it a step farther on an old vintage Browning Nomad Deluxe compound today, I removed the peep and the sights completely, and adjusted the tiller for a three under tab release. I put a Black Eagle vintage 500 full length arrow with 175 grain tip in the 12 multiple times, then I got my old Mathews MQ32 out, had already removed the peep, and after a few minute sight adjustments was driving tacs in the target, I'm really glad to here your success. I also shoot a Mesa hybrid longbow 37# just as accurate

    I have always used my anchor point along with a pin sight. I use a Concho style rope release as I have always felt that I get a more accurate anchor point as the pivotal position of the anchor is farther away from the string and therefore the string is less influenced by any torque or angular misalignment on my part. Never had a need for kisser buttons either. I feel that I am more accurate than with a peep or kisser due to the consistency of feeling my exact anchor vertically, horizontal,as well as draw length.

    @tbconnor Před 2 měsíci

    I generally followed this video but I made 2 errors. First, I added a tiny bit of dish soap during my initial soak of the spurs (to loosen the skin.) This resulted in the spurs losing their rich dark color. I let them sit for a long while and the skin came off easily. Second, the skin came off so easily that it pulled the "sheath" of the spur completely off. So now I have one continuous piece of white leg bone and white spur. It's not a total loss. I can still display them. Just a good story of trial-and-error taxidermy by a novice. And if I really wanted to I could repaint the spurs somehow.

    I ditched the peep bcuz of hunting in low light no kisser button no nose nock ..my form and anchor point is solid from thousands of hours of shooting..sick of people trying to tell me that it's like a rear sight on a gun lmfao a peep is basically just training wheels for people that don't put in the time on the range

  • @OzarkHoller
    @OzarkHoller Před 2 měsíci

    Do you not have to line the pin up with the side of the string? I don't know how many times last season.I had to climb down 10,15 minutes early because it's too dark to see out of peep also struggle with idomics.

    • @HuntAppalachia1
      @HuntAppalachia1 Před 3 měsíci

      I believe the sharp points on the nose button are going to be more consistent than the round kisser. I know some guys that use both tho. The kisser for corner of the mouth and nose button for the edge of your nose. I don’t feel like I need both

    So I just bought my first bow. It has a front sight but no peep sight so I’m having trouble figuring out how to position the string to aim with the sight. It has 2 little strings that hang off the bowstring that I’ve tried using but I can’t seem to figure it out. Already lost 1 of my 6 starting arrows -_-

    You're so right on, I have always used a kisser button and I shoot great. With a peep it's so fuzzy and hard to focus on my dot. Kisser only is the way to go. Thanks for your video.

    You made it a point to prove your point by mocking what others think or say, but I'm going to prove that you don't truly trust your saddle system by pointing out the obvious, which is that you're doing all of this while being only 2' off the ground. Now don't go making a video doing this same thing 30' off the ground because saddles were specifically not designed for you to do these types of things. This would be an inappropriate use of the saddles and it could result in serious injury or death. You've proven your point that that are pretty hard to fall out of, but I've also proven my point which is that they are not 100% safe and that's why people such as yourself are not doing these demos from 30' up in the air. I point this out to you not because I think saddles are super dangerous, but rather, just to point out that even you know they are not 100% safe. As a recreation tree climber, I climb with harness and ropes and I know they are relatively safe. Note I say they are "relatively" safe. Your saddle is no different. It all depends on you using it properly and knowing where the dangerous aspect of saddle hunting are and mitigating or having a system that works for you to mitigate these aspects so it's a safe experience for you. For everyone, it's going to be a little different. There is no one size fits all because we are all built differently. You will be able to do things that an obese 55 year old is not going to be able to do. Saddle hunting can be very safe if done right with all safety protocols in place and possibly some level of redundancy, especially in the ascent and descent stage. The biggest danger of a saddle is not once you're settled in. Your video shows how safe this stage can be, but that is not all of saddle hunting. That's only one stage of it. Every elevated hunting system, be it saddle, climber, ladder, or hang-ons, carries an element of danger. It is for each individual to identify this for themselves and to determine what will make it safe for them. An all out, "saddle hunting" is safe is irresponsible because it inherently is not. The same is true of all elevated hunting systems. They all can be made much safer, but non is inherently safe. They all are inherently dangerous and are only made safe when we as the user take the necessary precautions to make them as safe as possible for our use case. Let's make sure our fellow hunters are as safe as possible by encouraging them to truly understand their choice of elevated hunting systems and letting them know that all systems are inherently dangerous and it's up to them to mitigate these dangers. The most often overlooked danger will all systems is, what do you do in the event you are hanging from your life support system and have not way of going up or going down. Yes, you've be spared a close and impactful encounter with the ground, but what now? In 2022, an Iowa hunter died simply because he was stuck in the air and could not free himself. He was a mere 6' up off the ground and he was upright, not inverted. A squirrel hunter came to his aid and could not get him down. He was 6' off the ground and he died. Why? Because he didn't have a means to mitigate such a scenario. He believed the likes of you that as long as he was tethered in, he was safe. No system is 100% safe. They all come with risks. It's everyone's job to communicate these dangers clearly to all hunters so they can make an informed choice, one that will hopefully keep them safe because all our families want us to return safely from our hunting trips. Cheers and stay safe my friend.

    Saddles are supper comfortable but how do u shoot a compound bow from them? It’s great for guns and crossbows. Ropes get in the way for compound. I hunt west Michigan public land. Crazy pressure and just realized I kill more deer off the ground than elevated. When it’s cold all the work to set that shit up is ridiculous. U wanna be light weight hunt the ground. Your gonna have to when u get old. Simple
